“Amazing stay”
Reviewed 27 February 2014

Marcus, Imman, Faisal and all of the staff at Riad ZamZam were delightful. THey took amazing care of us and could not do more to help. The Riad has been beautifully restored. Lovely rooms and amazing fresh fruits, juices and other items on the breakfast menu. Highly recommended. Thanks to all for a memorable stay.

This oasis in the heart of the Marrakech medina was everything I could have hoped for. From when we were first collected at the taxi stop, until the minute we left, our every wish was granted. We were a group of 14 with many different wants and needs - hammams, spa treatments, shopping, guided tours, restaurants, cooking classes and in-house purchasing. These were all catered for with grace and efficiency. Even as we reluctantly checked out, our tricky, individual accounts were swiftly taken care of. The food was the best we encountered in Marrakech and don't even get me started on the fantastic local wines. I would also thoroughly recommend the hammam and gommage treatments. An enduring memory is sunset on the rooftop with a glass of rosé in hand and the sound of prayer from 5 or 6 different mosques wafting over the breeze. Marrakech is a city of delicious smells, sights, tastes and sounds and I can think of no better place from which to experience it than Riad Zamzam

Room Tip: Each room was beautiful! Stairs to the rooms on the first level are windy and narrow (but beautifull...

Zam Zam Riad is a restful and stylish oasis in the centre of the busy medina. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful and the food was delicious. We were given all the help and advice we needed to get around. Taxis, guides and restaurant bookings were efficiently arranged for trips and in between times it was blissful to enjoy the riad's calm ambience.

We were waited on hand and foot, the best food especially the dinners was served in the road, the massages were amazing and it was great fun to sit on the roof top at any time of the day, but in particular as the sun was going down - the wines especially the red and rose were superb! My only complaint was trying to be fitted in with the high demand for the massages and there are only 1 or 2 people who do this (I wasted 5 hours waiting for my turn, only for it not to happen, but it was rescheduled for my benefit 8.30am) perhaps book at your time and make sure its not when everyone else is having one (we were 15 of us). Enjoy, its fabulous, fun, beautiful and exactly what you could ever want.

Room Tip: We experienced or I found Morrocco allah expensive, but it was worth it. I did not pay for the room...

Riad Zamzam proved a wonderfully situated, beautifully appointed and extremely hospitable respite from the hussle and bussle of the Medina. The staff were wonderful, the food delicious and we couldn't have been better looked after. I would happily recommend Riad Zamzam to anyone visiting Marrakesh.

I booked Riad Zam Zam through Fleewinter.com. I had a idealistic vision of an indulgent exotic long weekend with 13 of my closest girlfriends to celebrate my birthday. It was everything I could have hoped for and more. The Riad is beautiful but what makes it extra special is the care and attention of the lovely staff who couldn't do enough to insure each and every one of us had everything we desired, no mean task I can assure you. Throw into that mix, sunshine, the sights fragrance & colour on the medina, fabulous Moroccan wines, delicious food, the best we had while in Marrakech and a beautiful environment and the result was 14 very happy and revitalised ladies. We found the location of the Riad, out the way from the main hubbub, but still in the old Medina, perfect as it allowed us to enjoy an insight into Marrakech life just walking the winding alleys to and from the Riad and letting it unfold before our eyes. Sleep quality poor but that was due to the call to prayer in the early hours and I don't think you could escape that anywhere in Marrakech, nor would you want to. I couldn't recumbent Riad Zam Zam more highly.

We spent 3 nights at Riad Zamzam, and it is a lovely oasis in the midst of the maze of the Medina.

We actually stayed in 2 rooms as we had tried to book the Palm, but it was not available for all 3 nights and Marcus offered us the Harem which was free and the option to swap to the Palm if we wanted to. Before arriving we decided to swap as the Palm is slightly larger, however both rooms were great (but think we did slightly prefer the Palm).

Our experience at Zamzam was great. We were well looked after by all the staff, with nothing too much trouble.

We had the Riad arrange taxi collection to / from airport, which I would recommend even though it does cost slightly more, as the taxi takes you to as close as possible to the Riad and then walk you to the door. I'm not sure you would actually ever find it if you arranged yourself ( and I don't think any Riad in the Medina is accessible directly from a road either).

Give me a map and I love exploring so was a little unsure about the suggestion of having a guide organised by Marcus for our first morning, but again would really recommend it. Mohammed was our guide, and collected us just after breakfast and showed us many things we just would not have found alone. I'd like to say we also knew our way around after that, but the Souks really are such a maze, you'd need a week of a guide to do that.

All the food we had at Zamzam was great.

We ate in on the first night, and had a superb 3 course Moroccan meal, waited on perfectly by Faisal. The second night we went out to eat (at the Fandouk, which had been recommended to us by friends who had been previously). We only had to mention it and it was booked for us and Aziz walked us to the Restaurant (as mentioned above, it is a maze), and collected us at the end (you could see many diners giving business cards to the staff to call their Riads for collection).

The Restaurant was lovely, and had a great atmosphere, but the food was actually better at Zamzam, which decided our plans for our last night.

We were originally going to eat out at the square, but decided in the end to go and see the square at night, then come back and eat at Zamzam again - and they were more than happy for us to come back as late as we wanted to eat. We were the only ones eating in, so is a little strange, but we had another great meal - and it was quite nice being the sole diners.

Overall we had a great trip, but seeing some previous negative reports, it is probably worth noting that the Medina is not for everyone, it is pretty chaotic, and some of the locals can try and take advantage of those who lose themselves in the endless narrow and often run down lanes. Also, the Riad is on the north side of the Medina so you have to cross the Souk to get to the square if walking (but a taxi is only 3 euro and is a bit of an adventure itself).

Personally, I loved it, and never felt unsafe at any time, even when walking back alone after dark, but can see how some who were not expecting it to be like this would have quite a shock.

You could not fault the comfort of Riad Zamzam, the great food (breakfast and evening meals) or the service we were provided.

A great experience and a great place to stay.
