Naoura Barriere left me with mixed feelings. On one hand the location is excellent and the rooms are newly refurbished. However the property as a whole is old and the wear and tear shows even in the rooms - just look behind the many curtains in the rooms.
We had problems with air conditioning. Many others were discussing the same issue. Our bathroom smelled mouldy - also black fungal growth in the shower. One of the sinks was clogged. Curtains in the balcony were torn and sliding doors poorly cleaned. A word of warning: look out for the balcony doors. If you go to the balcony and close the sliding doors, you can't get back in. The doors lock once you close them and you can't open them from outside.
I also checked 'the Riads' and I'm not sure if paying extra is worth it. The Spa is not up to date. For a five star property the service is errand. Chaotic at best and at times non-existent.
Comparison to the Pearl
We stayed at the Pearl for three days. Naoura Barriere's location is better in relation to the Medina but in all other aspects the Pearl, that fairs surprisingly badly in TripAdvisor, is superior to Naoura Barriere. We also checked Sofitel. Similarly to Naoura Barriere, Sofitel's public areas are worn out.
When checking hotels in Marrakech in this price bracket I would recommend you to check other properties too before booking Naoura Barriere. In general it's fine but you can easily find better places to stay, too.
