“A haven of peace and tranquility”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 February 2010

We chose Dar Habiba because of the good Trip Advisor reports and the comprehensive Dar Habiba web site.

We had not visited Morocco before and were expecting exactly what we got - a chaotic city that never sleeps, with major traffic, hustle and bustle. If there is any order there, it's well disguised!

In contrast, Dar Habiba is a haven of peace and tranquility. It is hard to believe that you are in the midst of the turmoil of Marrakech once you are within its walls. Nothing is too much trouble for Salwa and Adraa, who always have a smile. The super efficient manager, Najat , was on holiday, so Alastair, the owner, was standing in and made us very welcome. The Riad is two hundred and fifty years old and the rooms are traditionally decorated and furnished. Alastair has obviously spent as much time and care on the refurbishment as he has in choosing and training the staff.

As we were not due to arrive until the evening, we chose to dine in the Riad on the first night and ordered our menu choice in advance from Najat. The food is authentic Moroccan, as good as anything you will get elsewhere, with provisions bought fresh each day in the markets. It is very tasty and served on a rose petal strewn table cloth! The breakfast is also excellent.

We had some torrential rain during our stay which occasionally precluded dining on the roof terrace, but the ground floor Salon was equally atmospheric. After one particularly hard day in the Souks, we relaxed in the Dar Habiba Hammam then dined there again in the evening. Convivial, good conversation, highly recommended.

Dar Habiba could not be better situated, it is only a short stroll from the action and provides a relaxing base from which to explore the sights. We had arranged a taxi from and to the Airport with Najat and it all worked perfectly and made for a stress free transfer.

The weather became glorious on our last day, but frankly, the rain didn't matter. We enjoyed Dar Habiba and the people of Marrakech very much and hope to return later in the year.

Colin & Susan, Lincoln.

From the moment we left the airport, having been picked up by a taxi arranged by the Riad, we arrived at Dar Habiba with no stress put upon us watsoever. Najat, our hostess welcomed us with mint tea and some great tips regarding Marrakech. She is a truely wonderful host and you will not regret having her look after your stay and your wellbeing in Marrakech, Dinner was organised for us on the first night and it was wonderful and authentic.
Najat went as far as to organise a day trip to the Atlas mountains, which was incredible especially as the driver was bi-lingual and really knew where he was going. This included mint tea within the valleys and les cascade Ouzoud. We were further treated to a hammam within the Riad, and this was again another highlight (one felt very relaxed and smooth after!).
Finally, let us not forget the Riad itself. A truely wonderful oasis in the middle of the bustle that is Marrakech, and yet only a stones throw away from Place Jemaa El Fna. Most importantly, it is Najat and the rest of the staff that make this place truely wonderful and one that we would definately want to return to.

Marrakech is an amazing and exciting place but it was lovely to be able to retreat to the tranquility of Dar Habiba to recharge the batteries. Najat could not have been more helpful. She came to our rescue when our taxi driver dropped us at the wrong square, and provided us with a wealth of information on how best to use our short time in Marrackech. The location is excellent - just minutes away from the main square and the souks. A lovely place to stay.

My husband and I spent two nights at Dar Habiba and we definitely recommend it! The staff and Najat, the manager, are very nice and very helpful. We were welcomed with mint tea while Najat brought us a tourist map and pointed out all the local sights. Her advice was very helpful as we only had two days and still managed to visit a lot of interesting places in Marrakech. We also ate at the riad on our first day. The food was very good and authentic, and we loved the speciality of the riad, the Tangia. The location is excellent, a few mins walk from the Jemaa El Fna and the Bahia palace. By far the best experience though was the hammam, which was a wonderful experience.

For our Birthday party we filled Riad Dar Habiaba and Alaistair made arrangements to accommodate the others next door . It was delightful and Najat and her charming staff really made it a special celebration, delivering excellent service, a sumptious dinner,
birthday cake with candles and sparklers and a wonderful hammam where we were exfoliated by candle light with scented oils with what felt like wet and dry paper.
Dar Habiba Riad is a haven of peace, a short walk from main Jemaa el Fna square away from the buzz of the bazaar traders entreating Ali Baba (watch any bearded man) every few seconds to enter their lair and lighten our purses.

Just spent 3 nights at Dar Habiba with my sister and can definitely recommend it! The staff are fantastic and (as mentioned by other reviewers) Najat, the manager, is amazingly helpful. We were welcomed with mint tea while Najat went through a tourist map and pointed out all the local sights. The room was comfortable, the breakfast was fine and a little different every day. We ate at the riad on our first night where the food was good and plentiful. The location is excellent - just a few mins walk from the Jemaa El Fna - and Marrakech itself is completely safe at any hour of the day or night. By far the best experience though was the hammam at dar habiba. I have been to many spas all over the world and I can honestly say that the hammam experience far outweighed any five star spa treatment I have had anywhere else. Don't miss this experience by going to the public hammam. You won't regret it!

This was the first time in Marrakech and it is manic, we managed to find the close by the riad but still managed to get lost luckly the manager was able to come out and guide the way. The riad is peaceful and beautiful the staff were wonderful. The breakfast was really nice on the sunny rooftop.
