Words cannot describe the experience at Dar Housnia we had first week of Mar 2014! Great, clean, beautifully decorated rooms and relaxing places at the courtyard and terrace as well as clean plunge pool and amazing service. Above all the genuine hospitality by the staff of the riad! The chef at the riad called Rachida is probably the best chef in Marrakesh as she prepares fresh breakfast everyday for the guests with nice different things and in addition her dinner and lunches were better than the top restaurants we got recommended to visit! Seriously with this riad you do not need to eat outside! In addition as we were two girls vising the young guy kindly accompanied us to get taxis later in the evening and he was coming to pick us up - this was so kind of them! Moreover the riad is conveniently located close to place Moqf where you can grab cabs but also very close to the souks and some of the natable sight seeing attractions like Musee de la Photographie, Musee du Marrakesh and the famous Medersa Ben Yousef! This riad goes the extra mile and makes you want to visit Marrakesh again! It is such a great opportunity to see a project like this setting new standards and we will definitely be back! Last but not least the riad has a wonderful spa - we tried the hamam & massage treatment: it was reasonably priced and excellent! Make sure you try it too! Thank you Dar Housnia staff - see you all soon!

Room Tip: We picked the Patio room which is beautifully decorated and has a nice hamam bath and you enjoy the...

We just came back from Dar Housnia. We rented the Dar side, meaning the separate house which consists of two double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms a living room with fireplace, a private terrace and the pool "almost" privat. It's a beautiful setting, very privat but with the service of the hotel part (the other side of the Dar is divided in 3/4 rented rooms). Rachida their cook is absolutely amazing and prepares home made healthy dishes but anyway sophisticated, one of the best meals ever. The Dar is beautifully decorated and well kept.
All the services at the Riad are not cheap, but after the noise, dirt and crowded streets of the Medina, one is happy to have a hammam/massage or good meal in front of the fireplace and everything is available even on a last minute requirement.
A suggestion, do NOT go to a place called Ali Palace nor the dromedary ride they suggest. I wanted a typical maroccan dinner with local music and belly dancer and the housekeeper reserved it. It's an ugly tourist "en masse" place with mediocre dinner under tents at a fixed ripoff cost, with various bored/tired musician/dancer and horse show at the end. Concerning the dromedary ride, it's endless..... 2h of walking boring tour, back killing. Again really felt like the perfect setup for naive tourists, not what one imagines.
We would definitely go again for the Riad side.

We stayed at the Dar Housnia Riad in October 2013.... Accommodation was relaxed and beautiful. Extremely clean and great decor. Staff were amazing and made our holiday extra special, nothing was too much trouble and the food produced by the inhouse cook was fantastic. Location was excellent being right at the heart of the old town, but be prepared to get everywhere on foot as cars can not get direct to the Riad (although this was not an issue for us and added to the marrackech experience) if we travelled back to marrakech, we would definitely stay at this Riad again.

We stayed a few days with friends on the outskirts of Marrakech, but also wanted to enjoy the hustle and bustle of the medina. This is my fourth time in Marrakech but the first time in a Riad, we chose well. This beautiful haven only a ten minute walk from the Djemaa el Fna square through narrow streets and busy, colourful souks, was perfect. My husband and I went with two daughters to celebrate the 21st birthday of one of them and we stayed in the Douria suite, two double en suite rooms, beautifully decorated, very ethnic with the traditional Moroccan balcony a mashrabiya overlooking the internal sitting room with tv, music facilities etc. and our own roof terrace overlooking the hundreds of other roofs of the medina and the most beautiful seating, eating area under a carved wooden canopy. The roof area and the swimming pool area were comfortable places to sun worship and the architects nightmare, designing a swimming pool on the first floor was just so right, the temperature was perfect and it had a jet to swim against.
The breakfast was cake, pancakes, fruit salad, yoghurt alternating each morning. We're an odd family and have a few food intolerances sadly, so my daughter was allowed into their kitchen to cook porridge !!!! but the Moroccan version of eggy bread was amazingly delicious. We went out to eat on two nights, once just up the alleyway to a stall selling 'fish and chips' - boned fried sardines, fried aubergines and cold chips, which we had as take away with an awful chocolate muffin and went back to our lovely sitting room and played games. The last night however, we ate at Dar Housnia on the main terrace for a change, just such a warm friendly atmosphere with comfortable seating and a very tasty lamb tagine, and apple tart for desert. All the staff without exception are happy to help and are very friendly. I wish we had made use of the massage, but never seemed to have time. Initially, when you arrive by car on the outskirts and hear that you have to walk through the streets with luggage don't be concerned ! A man with a cart will be there, he takes your luggage, you follow him (keeping out of the way of speeding mopeds and bikes) and five minutes later you are entering a happy, tranquil home with tea being offered.
Thank you to everyone at Dar Housnia, it was a pleasure.

My husband, in-laws and I have just returned from a magical four-night stay at Dar Housnia. The four of us were thrilled with our experience.

We had the pleasure of meeting the owners, Eveline and Marc, on holiday in December. They showed us photos and told us how they came about being owners of a riad. We had a good idea that the guest house would be beautiful, but Dar Housnia went above and beyond our expectations. It truly is a haven within the hustle and bustle of the medina. The decor is refined, tasteful, chic with just the perfect splashes of color here and there to reflect the colors you see around the city.

We stayed in the Douiria, a private apartment made up of two en-suite rooms, a sitting room with a dining area and a lovely rooftop terrace. We had our meals on the terrace under a beautiful pergola that protected us from the sun in the afternoon and the breeze in the morning and evenings.

The pool area is charming and serene. It is shared by the six rooms, but most of the time we felt as if we had our own, private pool area. The hammam and treatment rooms are also beautiful. We treated ourselves to very nice massages by Nadia.

The five person staff of Dar Housnia are fantastic. They are available for anything you need, but leave you to enjoy the guest house as if it is your home. As we were arriving late the first evening, we arranged to have dinner in. We were so thrilled with Rachida's cooking that we continued to have most of our meals at the guest house on our peaceful terrace, overlooking the rooftops and minarets of the medina. Excellent food!

We used the transportation provided by Dar Housnia to and from the airport. We would highly recommend doing so. The taxi can only go so far into the medina before the roads are too small. There is a porter waiting for you at that point to take your bags and guide you to the guest house.
They can also arrange transportation for the day if you want to visit some of the outlying areas of the city.

We really enjoyed the location of Dar Housnia. It is very convenient to get to the souks and the Place Jemaa el Fna. You get a real taste of everday life in the medina. The small street is very quiet.

There is not one negative thing to say about Dar Housnia. I cannot recommend it enough. We will definitely return, hopefully very soon, to this perfect little place in Marrakech! Thanks to everyone at Dar Housnia!

you want to be close to the suk but at a quiet place? you hate overloaden riads with red-to-dark carpets, lots of dark furniture and red-blue-green lamps? but you do want the quietness and orientalic style of a riad - mixed with the amenities western travellers like? over-average food quality, cleanliness and a caring, friendly staff are important to you? And you are willing to pay a bit more for this?

if your answer to all these questions is yes - this if your place.
Breakfast as well as dinners are served on the roof terrace. the many stairs and different patios make you feel as if you are (almost) the only guest.
Massage room (max 1 pers.) and Hamam (max 2 pers.) are really tiny - but also clean and they work for what they are built. But don't expect something like a SPA area.

This Riad is positioned right in the middle. Between the many lower priced riads which often are a bit dark, a bit run down, not too clean, places where you won't wanna necessarily eat etc. - and on the other hand the 250€ and up riads like Enja and Riad72, which are more on the boutique hotel end of the scale, but where you pay a significant fee for it.

Room Tip: for groups there is a possibliy to take an own private part of the Riad, with you own patio. This in...
