“Amazing oasis in the hustle and bustle”
Reviewed 11 May 2014

My partner and I have just returned from a great trip Marrakech staying at this amazing Riad. Upon arrival we were led through the streets and alleys and were a little dubious about where we would end up. But upon entering this Riad all negative thoughts were put aside. The place is amazing, calm and welcoming. The rooms were perfect with lots of space and some great personal touches. The staff were always very helpful and could not do more to assist you. There was nothing about this Riad that I could fault. Tip: book their transfers from and to the airport brilliant service and cost 30euros.

Room Tip: Request a room on the first floor

Stayed here between 30th April 2014 and 3rd May 2014 with a friend.
First impressions were that the staff were excellent, assisted us with completing forms when booking in and we got the room earlier than normal check in time as our flight was a morning one.
Room was well equipped although a desk or another table would have been handy, all the usual towels, bed linens and shampoo/shower gel etc. Bed was very comfy so no problems with sleeping, we had the turquoise suite which is on the first floor.
We ate dinner twice in the Riad and it was excellent both times, three courses was only 220MAD each.
I can not fault this Riad in any way really and would recommend to friends and family who are thinking of going Marrakech.

Room Tip: Try for a first floor or the second floor suites as ground floor may be nosier as they open onto com...

My wife and I stayed at Riad Pachavana for 4 nights after Easter. The hotel is well located, being 10-15 minutes from the main sights, and is like an oasis of calm among the hustle and bustle of Marrakech. Beautifully furnished and equipped the hotel is run by a team of excellent and very helpful staff. We took dinner at the Riad on 3 nights and found the food to be of wonderful quality and well priced. We cannot recommend Riad Pachavana highly enough and plan to return as soon as we can.

What a great hotel! We loved Riad Pachavana, as well as the top notch service there.

First tip: they offer taxi pickup (20 euros) from the train station/airport - GET IT. Our cab driver could hardly find it (since the translations from French to Arabic aren't that great for some words, and it's a small narrow street)- with the money we spent on the cab as well as a local guy to bring us to the hotel, it was the same- but would've been much less of a hassle if they had picked us up.

This isn't to say that it's hard to find, it's actually 2 turns and a short 10 minute walk to the markets of the Marrakech medina - it's very convenient, just difficult to find on your first time, for sure.

The rooms were beautiful with a great central courtyard (like all roads) and an even better roof deck! They helped us arrange transport to Ouarzazate (which for us, included a surprise visit to Ait Ben Haddou!). The breakfast is great, but the service is really top notch! We truly loved staying there the most during our 2 weeks in Morocco and will definitely return there when we return to Marrakech.

I stayed here for one night while passing through Marrakech on a bit of a road.
Sure it looks quaint inside, the pool is more of a pond but the staff were very friendly and serve small bottles of beer at €5 a time with a smile.

But the big question is it really worth the hassle of getting to? Taxi drivers don't know where it is and take a while to find it, which increases the tension about the argument over the fare and even when they drop you off you have no idea how to get there from the street. You have to follow youths who lead you a long way round, through dark alley ways and then demand excessive money for their troubles. All part of the Moroccan fun? Maybe, but it's more intimidating than amusing and I'm well travelled and familiar with various environments and am aware when intimidation tactics are being used.

Stay once at a Riad and then book into a hotel in Marrakech away from the medina and Souks, it's pointless staying in the medina as you can walk into there from the square anyway and won't have to pass through it when you are trying to get home at night, in the dark, lost with hundreds of locals hassling you.

Ps - don't get a room on the ground floor unless you want to feel like sleeping in the reception/breakfast room of a hotel.

Hello,
Thank you for taking the time to comment, even if I have been surprise on some points. We always offer our guests a shuttle service from the airport to the riad to avoid inconvenience you have encountered, and often make that people pay at the end more than the service we provide with our supplier, who knows the riad and accompanies the guests to the door of the riad. Concerning pools in the riads, they are related to the size of the institutions, and I think that you are more used to big hotels. I regret that the experience of the riad does not agreed you (luckily for you, it only lasted one night), but fortunately it suits at very great majority of our hosts! I'm sorry if you have experienced a little noisy people at their breakfast, this rarely happens.
Cordialy.

We recently chose to spend 4 nights here based on previous reviews, and like others would 100% recommend to anyone who wants to experience daily life in the old city.

Our taxi driver from the airport wasn't familiar with the Riad as it is located off a narrow cobbled lane, but after a quick phone call he found it and helped us with our luggage. Once through the main door you are in a peaceful and beautiful oasis of calm. As a base it is great as not in a noisy neighbourhood or a touristy one but close enough to the souks and main square to be walkable. The petit taxis offer a cheap way of getting round too.

Our room (Rubis) was large and tucked away on the first floor. As we had let them know our visit was to celebrate our wedding anniversary the room was scattered with rose petals, I was touched!

All the food we had there was lovely. We ate in one night for our anniversary dinner and requested a pastilla - the cook made us a beautiful one.

The Riad has a small spa and massage room, so we had a hamman and massage their rather than having to go out, which was handy. Good too.

The service from Khamissa, Abdoul, Mohammed and the team was first class, lovely genuine people, we were very well looked after.

We wish the Riad Pachavana all the best for the future

Room Tip: Rubis was our room and so would recommend, but they all look good.

Riad Pachavana is one of the best places I have stayed in the world. It is located only 10 minutes away from the main square and offers guests tranquility and peace after a day exploring the bustling city. The food served at breakfast and dinner were the most delicious meals we had whilst in Morocco. The staff, especially Abdoul, Mohammad, and Heemsa, were very welcoming and friendly and made sure we had a fantastic holiday. I can't recommend this Riad enough - please stay here!!!
