“Great Day Out”
Reviewed 11 June 2013

I would certainly recommend Splash to others heading to Marrakech.
The communication pre visit was swift and comprehensive and the visit great fun.

There was a mix up at their end with our booking being placed in the diary the day after our actual booking confirmation however after a phone call questioning the lack of collection we were advised to take a taxi to a set location where we would then be picked up - this cost was then knocked off our bill at the end.
Mistakes happen. Once notified, Andy dealt with it effectively and with no fuss.

Once at the venue there was a warm welcome, in the form of sweet mint tea and smiles. There was no faffing and we were swiftly briefed and on our ways.

We had booked to use the Dune Buggies however at the last minute changed to Quads. The cost of a quad each is fractionally more than a shared buggy for 2 for the same time and well worth paying for.
There are 2types of dune buggies here - the low riding mean looking type with the sprung suspension on show and then what are essentially a quad/golf buggy hybrid. As we were offered the golf buggies we swapped to a quad each and were so glad we did. I can't comment on the other form of buggies however our group had both quads and the "golf buggies" and all were in agreement that the quads were far better value for money.

Our group of 4 males was originally put with a few other groups however after a 5mins trial drive the group was split down meaning we could put our foot down with others who were also confident in their ability rather than having to hold back for those less confident.

The journey was highly enjoyable, driving across a range of terrains and routes. The first stop off on a ridge provided great views and the sweet tea in a berber village was pleasant even if it did feel a little forced and voyeuristic.

All quads and buggies looked well maintained and the staff were all very pleasant.

The only criticism I would say would be the non definition, or if i missed it, lack of clear definition between the traditional dune buggies and the golf buggies. I don't know whether they have the same engines within however to myself and other semi motor heads there is a sizeable difference between the two and had I known it was the golf buggies I had I would have booked the quads from the off set.

Advice - to make the most of your time, book individual quads as opposed to shared buggies as the value for money is far greater with the quads; you do the same journey in a group however have to share the driving time (that is unless the other dune buggies have a different journey and are a different experience, in which case this really should be noted pre booking).

All in all - satisfied customer who would return.

“Ahansal river rafting with Splash Morocco”
Reviewed 10 May 2013

Superb rafting guides, great organisation and friendly, helpful staff - only sour note (and he didn't work for Splash) was our return driver from the river.
The scenery is absolutely stunning and with clear blue skies and milky blue snow melt water - a fantastic combination.
The rapids were very wild but the rafting guides (John and Pepe) both displayed cool skill and you never felt they couldnt deal with it!
Highly recommended.

“Brilliant service, well worth paying the extra”
Reviewed 5 May 2013

There were 7 of us and we booked the Ourika Valley trip and the Dune Buggies with Splash Morocco. On the Ourika Valley trip the driver was fantastic. We were late meeting the bus as we weren't told about the clocks going forward halfway through our holiday, the driver waited for us, he never attempted to rush us for the rest of the day to make up for the lost time. First he took us to a Berber house, then to the camels for a ride on them before taking us to the Ourika Valley were we had another guide called Brian, he was really good and really looked after my Mum who found climbing up to the water falls difficult. He really did make the day where he was so helpful. We then had a nice 3 course meal before making our way home with a stop at the Argan oil factory. The driver was more than happy to stop to allow us to take photos on route.

We also done the Dune Buggies, what great fun, it was a fantastic morning we all really enjoyed it. Can't wait to do it again. It was fun driving over rough grounds, up and down steep hills/ditches and through little villages. Had to laugh when we saw a shepherd with his sheep in the middle of no where and saw him carrying his mint tea on a tray. We even stopped halfway through the morning for a mint tea and pancakes in a Berber house. You have lockers to put your stuff in as you can't take bags in the buggies etc. Word of warning, you will get very dusty.

We booked some other trips while in Marrakesh with other travel companies selling in the main street as an extra but we soon regretted it as the service was not the same. Will stick to Splash Morocco next time for all our trips.

Thanks for the brilliant service.

“White water rafting down the Ahansel River”
Reviewed 2 May 2013

We went for the two day trip down the Ahansel river white water rafting. We began our journey from Marrakech where we got picked up from the city and stopped at Ouzoud Waterfalls. The waterfalls were absolutely stunning, highly reccomended! A warning though - we got off of our bus, and as we weren't with our splash morocco guides yet (we should have been), we were approached by a guy who said he was our guide for the day, he took us down the back entrance to see the waterfalls, which we later realised was because he didnt want us to find out we didnt have to have a guide, we could have gone in the main entrance and followed the crowds. He then took us to one of the cafes, where we didnt have a choice of the menu, were given tea, tagine or kebabs, followed by salad, melon, and patisseries. We thought that this was included in the price of the trip with splash morrocco but then 'our guide' said it was 90 durhams each! We weren't happy, but the bus driver who was taking us didnt spea ka word of english so we had to pay. We also had to pay him 50 durhams each for being our guide. Anyone reading this, you don't have to have a guide, and if one approaches you, say no thankyou!

We then began our journey up the atlas mountains to our camp, an experience I will never forget. We were driving on dirt track roads up the mountains which were very dangerous and scary at times but we did make it there safe! We then gopt dropped off in the middle of the mountains to a small village of mudhuts, where we were then taken in a landrover to the camp, again no one spoke english, and we hadn't heard anything from splash morocco so we didnt really know what was going on!

We then arrived at the first camp, which was beautiful, right by the river, with lovely little tents and the local staff made us tea. We were there for about 3 hours and hadnt heard anything from splash morocco, and as more people were arriving, many didnt speak any english, and the ones that did hadn't heard of splash morroco which didnt fill us with confidence at first! We then found a phone number on some paperwork and spoke to Andy who re-assured us our guides were on the way, and only a few moments later, they arrived, John, Matt and Pepe. We had some nice food and then spent the night at the camp.

The next day we began our rafting, Pepe and John were great, they couldn't do enough for us, and I really couldn't praise them any more. We had too much baggage to put in the dry bags on the rafts so they arranged for matt to drive it to the finishing place the day after to collect it.

The rafting itself was fantastic, so much fun, I was on Pepe's raft, he was brilliant - taught us very well how to paddle, what to do in certain situations, and gave us many laughs as well! The scenery is stunning, mindblowing at times, and the rapids themselves were great fun!

We stayed the second night at another camp, which was equally beautiful, and had a delicious dinner prepared by Pepe and John, its amazing what they can come up with in the mountains cooking from a gas stove!

The last day was amazing, spent the morning waking up to sunshine and a lovely fresh breakfast, then rafted down the last part of the mountains and into the lake - this was something else, the views and landscape was fantastic, the most beautiful ive seen in the world. We then had a boat pick us up and take us to shore while we had another yummy lunch on the water - perfection!

It was a great two days, and john very kindly refunded us for the money spent on the lunch at the waterfall. The communication was poor at the start of the trip, but we later found out that they had squeezed us in between two other groups, which is why we didn't travel up the mountains with the guides (which is normally what happens).

What is written on the website in terms of itinerary is very misleading as what happens is very different, I would suggest the company update the website to reflect the reality of the trip.

All that said, we had a fantastic two days, and this is coming from someone who was very apprehensive about doing it! Again, a massive thanks to John and Pepe, for making us feel so comfortable and safe, and for the laughs as well, they really looked after us and couldn't do anymore for us.

The only reason it didn't get a five star review is due to the lack of communication and also with the misleading information on the website. But very much recommended as a trip, great fun! Thanks John and Pepe!

Many thanks for your review and I'm glad that (most of) your trip was an enjoyable one. Unfortunately, as your trip was sandwiched between two other trips, we weren't able to provide a guide to look after you for the whole trip to the river, hence the confusion at Ouzoud. Hope to see you again in the future
