“Stay in MK”
Reviewed 14 July 2014 via mobile

My wife and I went to Marrakech for the first time. We loved the city and the atmosphere. And we also loved our Riad.

The location was really good (10 minute walk to the heart of MK), in a place that always seemed absolutely safe for tourists. The only caveat is that for the come back to the hotel late at night, I would definitely recommend to walk through the main avenue, surrounding the Medina. The Medina after 10pm can be quite scary and there is absolutely no chance to find any Riad, through those streets.

About the Riad: we really had no problems at all. The bfast was simply great, the service always ready to help and the Suite was tidy and extremeñy clean. We experienced no problem at all in 4 days. We also had dinner once and it was really good, too.

My husband and I stayed 4 nights at the riad -arranged by British Airways.
The Riad is very clean, so is the room with air conditioning, bed very comfortable and the toiletries smell wonderful.
The riad is well situated - easy access to the square and the souk.
Breakfast is excellent and the staff extremely friendly and always ready to help and to please.

Good experience for our first visit to Marrakesh and very glad BA chose this riad.
Fully recommend it.

Room Tip: Everything was perfect

A beautiful riad in a great location - just a 10 minute walk from the main square in the medina. The riad in general is beautiful and the room we had in the modern part of the riad was lovely. All of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the breakfast was amazing! Particularly great service from Abraham who helped with our bags and served our breakfasts everyday. We also booked a day trip to the Atlas Mountains through the riad which was quite expensive but definitely worth it! Overall, a lovely calm oasis in the middle of the craziness of the old city!

We stayed here for 4 nights, booked through BA holidays. It was a perfect hideaway, down a maze of alleyways. Once through the busy, and sometimes, smelly souk, you are greeting by a peaceful & tranquil courtyard, where upon checking in are served mint tea and asked to fill out the paperwork. You are then giving a tour, shown your room and given and explained a map of the main attractions and directions back to the riad. The house boy, Abdul, is very attentive, and nothing is too much trouble. All of the staff here are fantastic, and speak fairly good English.
The rooms are basic, although all have ac. Don't expect a fridge, TV or mod cons if staying here, but expect traditional service and facilities. Breakfast is a delight, and different each morning.
I had a hammam whilst staying here, all organised through the riad, and in a room off the courtyard. Definitely not for the faint hearted, but felt great afterwards.

Room Tip: The riad only has 6 bedrooms, and each of them different. Quiet an echoey

We spent 4 nights at Riad Ambre et Epices in May 2014. We traveled with family and stayed in 3 rooms in the more traditional side of the riad. After reading online reviews regarding the more modern annex, I was worried I would be disappointed with our rooms. However, I ended up liking the more traditional side of the riad much more than the modern side. The riad is very clean and charming. The bedding is luxurious and comfortable, the toiletries smell wonderful, and the water pressure/heat/etc are great. I did not see a single insect (and I was always on the look-out). The location is perfect and I much preferred staying in a riad versus a more traditional hotel. The service and breakfast were excellent. The room on the roof was my favorite. Although not considered one of the "deluxe" rooms, it had windows that allowed fresh air into the room and was very private. Overall, we loved Riad Ambre et Epices. As previously mentioned by other reviewers, the rooms are a bit small and the bathrooms in many of the rooms do not have doors, just some sort of partition/curtain from the bedroom. I am a very private person and was able to deal with this quirk without a problem. We would definitely stay here again. Fairly-priced for what you get!

We stayed here for 3 nights for a short break to Marrakesh. The location is perfect! It is just under 15 mins walk from the main square and souks and still in the old town so plenty of the old atmosphere. At first the narrow alleys are daunting but you get used to it. The Riad is clean and spacious. I liked the fact there is different breakfast every morning but the down side is there is no choice. The room we had(deluxe) was again clean and with a lovely shower. On the down side for a 4 star plus accomodation there was no supply of fresh water every day and no fridge or ability to make hot drinks. Also with no telephone in the rooms if you need a drink then you either go to the shops (nearest cafe a bit far) or to reception. The management were friendly enough but you never got the impression that they would go out of their way to assist. SO all told lovely building, rooms etc but customer care could be better. Also oddly no credit cards are taken and airport transfer for 275 dh for 2 each way for a 10 min ride by taxi is excessive when you can buy (not from the riad), a whole days's trip to the Atlas mountains mfor 250 dh. SO watch prices for all extras as not good value!
