We stayed for 4 nights to complete relax and get away from hectic lives. We loved every minute of it from the gorgeous private plunge pool, the delicious food, great service and very welcoming hosts Francis & Dawn. We would love to come back with a bigger group of friends.

If you're in real need of a holiday and need to guarantee that you and your family will have a a superb time, this is the place. WONDERFUL English hosts who have built a luxourious estate with 3 huge and private villas to stay in. Fully catered and trips to tempt you, if you so wish. We travelled with a 2 and a 3 year old and they were content from the moment they awoke to bedtime. A superb place to go.

Four of us [two couples] stayed at the Villas for two nights. We wanted to stay outside the city to avoid the noise and bustle and Dawn and Francis's villas provide this.

The rooms are well done with an artistic eye and a creative touch. They would be perfect in warm/hot weather as everything has been done to maximise space, shade and cool air. It wasn't too warm when we stayed but a roaring fire in one of the rooms and the aircon set to 'hot' helped us to get through the chilly nights. The water temperature in the showers fluctuated quite a bit - annoying but we coped.

All the food is carefully prepared and well done - tasty and fresh. It would be very easy to stay in the villas and never venture into the city - if you have kids, a couple of day trips would probably be all you'd need in a week. You could spend the rest of the time lounging by the pool, on your roof terrace, in the plunge pool outside your villa or in the gardens. There is a mischievous donkey, a goat, peacocks, dogs and cats to share the surroundings with - all good natured and friendly.

The villas are set in lovely gardens but are in the middle of nowhere. As others have said, it's a 20 min cab ride into the city centre which costs approx 300 dirhams [~EUR30 /GBP25]. Between four of us this was fine and we planned so we didn't spend a lot of money going to and fro but it's something you need to consider.

We visited a hammam recommended by Dawn [both she and Francis were very helpful re tips and guidance but never encroached on our privacy]. Le Secret was 'ok' - a bit too much spa and not enough steam, we felt. Les Bains des Marrakesh was better [when we went a few years ago] but be aware that their booking system can be 'forgetful'.

The villas offer a sanctuary outside the city but if you want independence and options for dinner etc then you'll need to budget for cabs or hire your own transport. Or stay in the city, but then you'd be missing a real hidden gem.

We visited in March 2010 and we had a lovely time, I would recommend booking your transfer through Dawn and Francis as we found our driver easily at the airport and he knew exactly where to go. Don't be daunted by the drive it is a bit crazy to get there, yes it is off the beaten track but once you see the yellow buildings fears of being in the middle of nowhere dissapear!!!!
Dawn and Francis were lovely, it did feel like you were in someones home but we also had our privacy so we really did have the best of both worlds. It was really interesting to have chats with them about how they started up and it was great to be able to ask for recommendations on restaurants and things to do which really was invaluable. We stayed in the Lak Lak upstairs room which was beautiful, with its own terrace, I would really recommend this room to any couples. You must go in to the medina one night which we did and shared a cab with another couple which was great for all of us and we even ended up having dinner together in a lovely restaurant recommend and booked by Francis (who even drew us a map!) The restaurant was exactly to our taste, you wouldn't believe there was such a hip place in the middle of all the markets!
The food was very nice and great value, I wasn't very well for a few days if you get my drift(!!!) but the staff were very caring and went out of their way to find something I could try to eat!!!
This not a hotel or a self catering apartment but it is a home from home (well I suppose if your home is chic and sunny!) Our stay was so so lovely and a perfect location for a wedding (hint hint to the boyf!!!)

Well this is my third trip and it just gets better and better. Since my last visit, the gardens have matured (all the trees and plants have really come on) and there is now an outdoor sitting rooms with open fires which is just so cosy and inviting in the winter. Ir just gets better and better, and we have recommended it to anyone and everyone who will listen! It is not in the centre of Marrakech, this is true, but that is all part of the charm and it is a perfect place to dip in and out of the medina from. The donkey is rather naughty and cheekier than the last time we were there but that does add to the atmosphere of the place and the relaxed feeling.
Already looking forward to 2011, thank you all so much for a wonderful stay, again....

This was our third trip to Villas Fawakay, and as before we had a wonderful stay.
Dawn and Francis were perfect hosts - nothing was too much trouble.
They happily organised excursions for us, and recommended some wonderful restaurants that we would have otherwise missed.
We would (and have) recommend Villas fawakay to anybody

We had a fantastic week at Villa Fawakay. We stayed in Villa Lak Lak which was beautifully presented, including a great sun terrace and two great bathrooms. With two energetic kids in tow we were looking for a location where everyone would have fun and we definately chose the right place. The kids loved it all - unlimited pool time, kittens, dogs, peacocks and Doris the donkey. We loved the relaxing atmosphere, staff who were efficient and courtious, and delicious food every day. Another great plus point was the ability to go for trips to Marrakech and the Altlas Mountains and then escape the hustle and bustle and return to the villa as and when we wanted (usually when the kids were tired). The owners, Francis and Dawn, were lovely and made us feel at home straight away. All in all a great holiday!!!
