“Amazing Villas, Fantastic Holiday”
Reviewed 2 June 2014

I have just returned from a week at VF and the experience was excellent. I arrived with friends after a short drive from the airport, I was very impressed with the friendly welcome and the traditional, spacious and cool rooms (It was 40c when we arrived).

One of the great strengts of the villas are their location, a short drive from Marrakech means that you can easily reach the City for a day trip. You are also in an idyllic and tranquil location which contributed to a very relaxing break.

During our trip we visited the Souk, the Atlas mountains, played golf at a nearby course, went Dune Buggying and spent some very relaxing days around the Pool. The villas also has a Clay tennis court which is kept in very good condition.

One of my favourite parts of the trip were the evenings, we enjoyed a wide variety of drinks at the poolside bar with a wide range of cocktails and quality wines available. We also ate at the Villa most nights and the food was excellent. The menu was very varied with delicious Moroccan cuisine at very reasonable prices.

Dawn and Francis are fantastic hosts and made us feel very welcome, Thank You!

I would wholeheartedly recommend Fawakay villas as a top place to stay in Marrakech.

You packed so much into your time here, so glad you enjoyed everything. The boys were very envious of the dune buggying needless to say! It goes without saying that you will be welcomed back any time, cocktails at the ready! See you very soon we hope.

Just back from VF and can't stop thinking about it and working out how soon I can return. Each member of our family (Grandma, Daughter and Son-in-law, and three grandaughters) had a wonderful time. There was space for us all to do our own thing - relaxing, swimming, sunbathing, tennis, table-tennis, cookery lessons, reading, animal husbandry and eating the most fantastic food. The odd drink or two was enjoyed as well! We visited the amazing Souk and enjoyed some camel riding but to be honest, the best thing of all was to return home completely de-stressed, relaxed and with fond memories of our hosts and their delightful son, Ziggy.

Room Tip: We had a whole villa, beautifully equipped and decorated in the Moorish style and cool both night an...

What can we say? Ziggy is missing all three girls and Brian and Kipper are lost without you! You have to come back very soon otherwise we will have a very unhappy son and even unhappier pups....! As always an absolute pleasure to have Simon and Louise staying here again and an added bonus of meeting you and your wonderful grand-daughters. We'll be counting off the days until your next visit....! Thank you so much for such a wonderful review, we really do appreciate it.

Having just spent a week at VF I find it impossible to not write a review (having never done so before)! From the moment I arrived in a pristine oasis a shirt drive from Central Marrakech I was in awe! A friendly greeting on arrival followed by a tour of grounds and villa set the week up perfectly.
The villas are vast, beautifully designed and tick off all the requirements you would expect and deliver much much more.

The most impressive feat is how VF can cater specifically to your needs, whether looking for a romantic getaway, a family holiday or even a long weekend with friends all can be achieved without impacting on each other. Trips are easily organised (at short notice) including a day in the Atlas Mountains, a trip to the Medina and Souks and even a couple of rounds at Francis' golf course. The heated pool is delightful and surrounded by a vast number of sun loungers and shaded beds. With table tennis, darts and a Roland Garros-esque clay tennis court all close at hand there is no shortage of things to do.

The bar is suitably placed and far more adequately stocked, with even the far fetched requests being fulfilled. Dawn and Francis are the perfect bartenders and never let a glass go empty.

All in all, this place should most definitely be at the top of someone's list as a place to stay in Marrakech. We will most definitely be coming back, whatever the occasion!

Thanks a lot for an incredible week.

An empty glass in Fawakay - never! Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review which means an awful lot to us. And so glad that you enjoyed yourselves. We can't guarantee the weather when you return but we can guarantee that the golf club will be ready and waiting to welcome you back and the Fawakay bar will be open. See you very soon we hope.

We stayed here for 5 lovely nights and it was perfect in every way. The villa was stunning, with gorgeous baths and showers that looked out on the beautiful gardens, big comfy beds and lots of room to lounge around in. It is far away from the Medina enough that it is truly relaxing but near enough to pop in for the evening to shop and eat. Although the food in Fawakay is so delicious its very easy to just stay there for days on end. We loved the animal vibe too with Doris the donkey and Frank and Stein the peacocks who all hung out with at the delicious breakfasts we had. And on our friend's birthday Bushra made the most delicious homemade chocolate cake for us. A really relaxing break which I would do all over again in exactly the same way thanks to Fawakay.

We've sampled that birthday cake on more than one occasion and you're absolutely right, it is rather delicious! So pleased that you enjoyed your time with us. Come again soon - we'll make sure Bouchera bakes a "Welcome back" cake.

we stayed here for 3 nights in mid-March and loved every minute of it. The owners Francis and Dawn could not have been more hospitable and accommodating. We traveled with our 3 year old daughter who made full use of the heated pool and petted Doris, the donkey, all the day long. We could not have chosen a better place to stay with our 3 year old.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review, it was lovely having you all to stay. I think we're going to have to acquire a second Doris some time soon - she's such a star attraction! Come and see us again very soon.

The weather in Marrakech was initially unkind but once the sun reappeared Villas Fawakay really came into their own. Great accommodation, delicious food, heated pool that you could actually use in January, lovely gardens, and a relaxed vibe. We enjoyed sunset drinks on our terrace with peacocks in attendance and my granddaughter made friends with a donkey.

Where to start? We arrived late due to a problem with BA to find a blazing fire lit in our dining room and another in our beautiful lounge. Francis showed us around our lovely villa, made a note of what we were looking for in our all too short break and then took our order for dinner which was served within half an hour despite the lateness of the hour and like every meal we had was excellent. The cook Bushara made a point of noting my wife's food intolerance and unlike most of her experiences of being a veggie abroad she enjoyed every single meal. I loved the food too, especially the delicate pancakes for breakfast and the tagines. All the staff were lovely, polite and considerate. You never felt you were being fussed over too much but nothing was too much trouble. We had two great massages organised on our behalf which really helped us to chill out. The drinks fridge was well stocked and the wine rack contained some surprising gems. The rose wasn't great but then at my age I ought to know better than drinking rose in January! The reds were lovely and I recommend the local beer. As for the resort itself it felt like a mixture of Gerald Durrell's books and the Arabian Nights - gardens of rosemary and thyme, an extremely friendly donkey, majestic peacocks, beautiful grounds and a slightly mad but completely soppy dog called Cous Cous. A trip to Marrakesh is essential and we found some real bargains in the Souk where a little French and Arabic, and some polite smiles ensured you never felt hassled or bothered. Francis recommended a perfect restaurant (Cafe Arab) where we had a lovely French/Italian meal and enjoyed excellent service. The whole of the villas are decorated with lovely photography and art works and while we didnt end up getting in the pool we did enjoy a few beers by the side of it. Francis made a point of making us incredibly welcome and comfortable - nothing was too much trouble and at the end we felt we saying a fond goodbye to a new friend. Whether it was writing on the terrace while trying to deter the donkey eating my laptop or our perfect evenings in our own dining room chatting over another perfect meal but we fell totally in love with the place. Francis was incredibly helpful when it came to sourcing materials and decorations for my events business or getting me fags when I had run out at 10 pm! but this isn't the only reason why we will be returning as soon as we can. With such a big world to explore and a limited time to do so it sometimes seems to us a waste to return to the same places, however lovely. With Fawakay however we think we have found the place that makes us rethink that philosophy and return again and again. And we didn't even get round to trying one of Francis's famous gin and tonics. Next time I am sure we can address that! Thank you again for the perfect break and we look forward to spending more time unwinding in and enjoying your beautiful home.

I can only apologise for tardiness of our response - no excuse apart from being busy pouring those gin and tonics for guests.....What can we say apart from thank you for such a fantastic review which obviously took some time to compose but which means such a lot to us. Whilst we love our lives at Fawakay and count ourselves as being extremely lucky to be here, it can have its challenges - but a review such as this makes it all worthwhile. We will look forward to your return visit for sure and have that large gin and tonic all ready and waiting for you.
With very best wishes.
Francis and Dawn.
