“Perfection!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 March 2014

We stayed here for 5 nights and loved every second.

The rooms are authentic, clean, comfortable and above all else so peaceful! Every day our room was cleaned and tidied so it was a great place to return to after a long day of exploring.

The roof top terrace is (again!) so peaceful, comfortable and a great place to spend an afternoon with lots of shaded areas to hide from sun.

We ate breakfast in the Riad every day and had dinner here twice. All meals were tasty and with PLENTY of food! We were offered alcohol every night (which is very difficult to come by in Marrakech!) and the price of the food and alcohol on our bill at the end of our trip was very reasonable.

The best thing about the Riad is the staff. They were all so welcoming and had great suggestions of where to visit and where to eat. We were constantly offered more food and drinks... we felt very looked after!

We highly recommend booking a taxi to and from the airport to find the Riad but once you know where it is it's very easy to navigate around the city from there.

Thank you to all the staff and we hope to see you again soon!

The riad is nice and quiet. We stayed there for 2 nights and we were the only clients there, so we felt as if its our own place. The girls that work there are very friendly specially Hyat, she received us with a warm welcome and she was always smiling. The breakfast was fine. It is standard in all the riads, pancakes, bread, butter and jam, along with coffee and orange juice.
The door has no lock and the safe box did not work. It is safe but you can never trust leaving your valuable things.
It's quite far from the medina, about 1.2 km far, but it was fine with us as we used to go in the morning, and return at night. Although we were the only clients, but the workers start their action at 7.30 am and so do we as we were checked in in the first floor.

As has already been said, this Riad's location is great-right in the Kasbah but still quiet and just a few minutes walk from the Djama El Fna Square. It was a real oasis of calm after the mayhem of Marrakech. Its traditional style around the inner courtyard was just what we expected and were looking for. Our first floor room was spotlessly clean and very stylish with enough space for a comfortable sitting area. The shower was rather dark but we soon got used to it. The best feature of the Riad was definitely the staff!! They were always ready to help and the food was so good we ate in three out of our 5 nights there. They adapted the menu to suit us, preparing three different delicious soups when we asked and spicing up the mains. Breakfast consisted of freshly squeezed orange juice(lovely), a choice of hot drinks and a variety of rolls, pastries and pancakes. There were also yoghurts some days. Fresh fruit would have been nice but I'm sure if we'd asked they would have got some for us. I'm certain that an extra yogurt would have been no trouble. The roof terrace was also a bonus for quiet sunbathing and reading- you need somewhere to chill away from all the hustle and bustle!!!
I'm glad we asked them to organise our airport transfers-a bit more expensive but worth it when we saw the standard taxis and the maze of alleys to get to the riad!!! They also sorted out our day tour to the Atlas Mountains which is a must-but don't think it will get you some respite from "pressure sales" because there are still stallholders at the top of the walks!!!! Lunch at tables actually IN the riverbed was one not to be missed and the food was surprisingly good.
Thank you, ladies, for your attentiveness, hospitality and unique insight into life in Marrakech.

Room Tip: Ask for a first floor room as they are more private.

They had messed up our booking and we had to change rooms after the first night.
Breakfast was plain and a bit boring. One day there was one small yoghurt, but only one - we were two.
Room was small, bed was horrible, my back is still hurting....
Bathroom was very dark, and water pressure so low at the zink that you have to go in the shower to wash your hands
Rooftop very nice for relaxing
Pool is not at real pool, it more of a place to dip your toes
On our bill we were charged for airport pick up, but we weren't picked up by the Riad
I would not go back to this place
The staff showed us brochures to places they work together with. We want to a hammam the recommended and we hated it.
The staff did not feel like a family
We felt no advantage of staying in a small Riad compared to a big hotel
I would go back to Marrakech any day, but I would stay at another place

The decor, building, staff and general feel in this Riad were just wonderful. It was definitely the best part of Marrakech for us. Loved having the plunge pool in the courtyard (I wouldn't recommend staying somewhere without a pool in their summer!), and very few Riads in the Medina have pools, so it was a real bonus. And the roof top terrace was a really lovely area. The rooms were large, and very nicely decorated.. i want to build a house like this place! We had a couple of different staff while we were there, the first Moroccoan girl just the sweetest kindest person ever, the second was good fun with great English and told us a lot of interesting things about life as a woman in an Arabic country. And the French couple with the cute doggy 'Pepet' were very kind too. Loved how Pepet 'guarded' the Riad when he is only a tiny little dog.

Only reason for not giving 5 stars is dont expect 5 star luxury - the rooms and place are fabulous, just a couple of small things like old looking towels (which didn't bother us anyway). And it is a fair way from the main square, souks, restaurants, ATMS etc, but given it is so crazy busy in that area its kind of nice because the Riad was so peaceful.

Breakfast was plentiful (I couldn't eat everything that was put down) but would have been great to see some fruit, but orange juice was lovely and fresh.

And we booked a tour to Ourika valley which was a great day trip. We just didn't realise that after paying the fee for the trip, we would then also have to fork out another 200dh for a guide once we reached the valley (we thought the guy we were paying for the trip was our guide? If not, it was a lot of money to pay for someone to just drive you out and back as it is not very far) - we should have clarified this beforehand. And then the guide and driver made us get lunch at a particular restaurant in the valley rather than us choosing one, but I must admit the food at that restaurant by the river was the best we had, so this worked out in our favour in the end.. But this isn't the Riads fault, but we did book it through them and just wish we had clarified what it included beforehand.

However, do go to the spa Alambra that they will recommend - fantastic massage in lovely setting and probably the best price I could find for an upmarket clean spa in Marrakech.

Marrakech was so much more expensive overall than we thought it would be, but this Riad offered excellent value for the accommodation and I would 100% recommend this to people travelling to Marrakech to escape the maddening city that it is.

Room Tip: As others have said, the second floor rooms are much more private and definetly the preference. We h...

This riad offers the best location, in the Kasbah district, 10 min walk to the Djama El Fna Square, enough distance to be your safe house away from the buzz and fuzz of this vibrant city. The Riad Aliya facilities are great, specially the brilliant and very friendly staff.

Stayed here for 5 days & was absolutely glorious. The staff are attentive and freindly. We stayed in the orange room which was beautiful & i preffered this room as there are 3 rooms on the second floor and 3 on the ground floor all centered around the courtyard & pool. Being upstairs was preferable for me-more private & no noise (although overall the riad is very peaceful) from people in the morning.
