“so good we went back!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 September 2011

This was our second stay. Still loved it and will return again. This year my son took a friend with him . The wow as he walked into the riad's courtyard said it all. Stayed in the two rooms at the far end upstairs this time and we were all happy with the size etc. I think this riad is in a great position with no need for taxis when visiting most of the old town. We went to Imlil with the driver from the riad and had a fantastic day. Would recommend using him. Look forward to going back again next year. Inshallah .

Read mixed reviews ahead of arrival and we booked taxi via the Riad for ease and were met by Hussain at the taxi (Euro15 each way). Short walk through alleys to lit large wooden door to cool, clean space. Mint tea provided and assisted with luggage to our room. Room on the first floor, large bed with air conditioning and shower/wc.

Breakfast provided each morning, coffee, orange juice, bread, jam and pastries/local pancakes. Meals could be booked as well as trips and beverages brought during the day. Supermarket short walk through the market and wall, located under Riad Mogador - good for fruit and treats.

Would stay again if in Marrakesh given location to square and restaurants

Local restaurant opposite the Katoubia mosque - Portofino Italian air conditioned restaurant which has good pizzas and fresh well presented salads, peppered steak also very good. Coffee shop on the corner in same location good to watch the hectic world pass you by.

We stayed here in October 2010 and really enjoyed it. It's a very small riad with approx 6 rooms, with a little pool ( didn't venture in but looked nice!). The rooms were nice, pretty basic but perfectly adequate considering you don't spend too much time in your rooms. The staff were extremely friendly and helfpul, breakfast was minimalistic but we enjoyed all the local pastries and cakes provided. Nicely located, however down loads of little alleys so hard to find at first!

I have just returned after a 4 night stay here with a friend. I had read reviews, good and bad but decided as I always do, find out for myself. I'm glad I did. The Riad was lovely, the staff very helpful. There is obviously a language barriar but if you can speak pigeon French you can get by. We had clean towels on the 2nd day. There was plenty of hot water. The breakfast was pleasant, tea, coffee, juice, bread and pastries. We had breafkast 30 mins before the normal time on our last day so we could leave for the airport. The Manager arranged a transfer from the airport for us. When we arrived we had a welcome drink and a chat with the manager to find out about the local area and where to visit. We didn't waste any time, got changed into something more appropriate (38 degrees) and found the main square where we got the tour bus. I can recommend doing this. There are 2 routes and your 24 hr ticket covers both. All the tourist attractions are relatively close to each other and it is easy to get around. We had quite a bit of trouble getting taxis and when we did, they wouldn't agree on a price, trying to charge way over the correct amount. On our last night the riad arranged for their driver to take us to a local restaurant (Al Fassia - run and owned by women, highly recommended) and I wish we'd used their driver all the time. A few times we didn't get our change back after a meal, the staff obviously just presumed that the change (quite a bit) was for them to keep. The hassle received by the locals, shop keepers, taxi drivers, men standing on corners of street, men standing outside the entrance way to the alley for the Riad was very tiring and sometimes intimidating but, once the door of the riad was closed shut, you could relax. We booked a trip through Discover Ltd to Kasbah Toubkal which is in the Atlas Mountains, well worth the visit. We had a lovely stay.

Room Tip: Use the driver. visit the sun terrace on the roof

Travelled here with friends, and must confess to be being a little nervous after some of the reviews - this is a superb Riad, the owner organised our pick up and drop off at the airport, the trips which we wanted plus recommending others all cheaper than we could find on the internet. we ate at the Riad on the 1st night - the food is delicous, breakfast was also good, besides pancakes you would get cakes, bread rolls jams etc. The owner came to see us on our 1st full day (we arrived in the evening), he speaks excellent english, told us to treat the house like our own including putting our own wine in his fridge! You can buy alcohol at the Riad, we took ours with us and that was fine, we could sit around the splash pool relaxing or on the balcony, (you dont have to drink in your room!) I would highly recommend this Riad and as per the owners recommendation if we do go back will book directly with the RIad . All of the staff are very friendly and helpful - loads of hot water (despite some comments from other reviews) each room individual/authentic - loved this RIAD

We just loved this lovely riad ! We were a bit frightened after reading some bad reviews on Tripadvisor, but it was a nice surprise when we arrived in this riad. We preferred going in a riad, above going in a big hotel outside the city center, and we never regret it !!!
The location is great, a 10 to 15 minute walk from the central square, in a narrow and quiet alley. Entering in the riad brought silence after the business of the city. Even on the roof you could only hear the birds singing...
The staff was really friendly and helpful, where possible. We had a lovely room, decorated in an authentic way. Loved the cosy bathroom ! (even if some parts of the raid could use a little painting or renovating)
The breakfast was a little bit annoying after a couple of days, but we understood that a 'real' moroccan breakfast doesn't exist. And at least the pancakes were original :-)
For one who does prefer authenticity above big luxury, this riad is a good choice !

First of all, anyone writing bad reviews must have had unrealistic expectations. It is a Riad, not a Grand Hotel. That means it's a house. That said, it's a nice house, with a beautiful courtyard, and the service was very pleasant.

If you take the airport pick-up, you won't have to worry about finding the place the first time. After that, the Riad is not hard to find and walk home to. Overall it was a good location, within walking distance both the main square and the newer part of town.

The manager upgraded our room to one with a big bathtub for the first part of our stay.

There were a few technical issues with the place: some cracks in the plaster, leaky toilet tank, and a power outage one morning. But I guess that is to be expected in the Medina.

The service was excellent, and an interesting microcosm of Moroccan society, with an Arab manager and Berber servants.

Breakfast was fine and always served with a smile. Expect Moroccan pancakes and rolls/croissants/bread with butter/jam, very nice orange juice, and coffee/tea.

The first evening we ordered dinner, which was delicious, but a little expensive compared with the other dinners we had in Marrakech. I suppose you pay for the convenience and comfort of eating in your hotel . . .
