In general this is a wonderful riad in a great location. The rooms are nice and the overall ambiance is terrific (lots of flowers, drapes, sunshine). The morning breakfast (comes with the room) is great and you will not walk away hungry. You can arrange to have an evening meal and if you do you will not regret it. You will be served on the roof-top terrace (we were all alone) and the food was wonderful. Everything is very fresh. The staff are very helpful even though some of them struggle with English. The riad is located mere steps from the hustle and bustle of the medina but provides a quiet oasis once you step inside. The only drawback to our stay was that there was a large group also staying at the riad and they tended to get back from dinner late (after midnight) and have loud discussions until very late. This was annoying to the guests who had retired early.

Le Coq Berbère was absolutely charming and we loved the Majorelle room.
Bachir, the housekeeper was wonderful. He was polite, very attentive and most efficient.
Everything worked perfectly - WLAN / WiFi included.
Our only regret was that we could only stay one night.
Hope to be back soon.

Beautiful riad with lovely and helpful staff. Our room was tastefully decorated and really clean. Breakfast was plentiful and the strongest coffee i have ever tasted. Fantastic roof terrace, which is a great place to spend a sunny afternoon. Take advantage of the free airport pick up as you would never find the place on your own in the maze of the medina.
Would recommend this riad to anyone and will difinitely go back if I return to Marrakech.

Picked up at airport. Stayed 4 nights (plus one on return) in two charming rooms. Clean, comforable, quiet. Great roof top patio. Enjoyed the splash pool. Helpful and friendly staff, those who do not speak English are fluent in body language. We felt very much at home, welcomed with mint tea and pastries. They arranged guided tour on request, plus booked hotel in Atlas mountains and Zagora (with overnight trip in desert), helped with rental car and bus tickets. Great dinner on roof top one night, real home made cooking! Recomend this Riad for all of you who don't need the standard hotels, but are looking for a memory to treasure.

Le Coq Berbere is an excellent riad in a picturesque setting. The staff is very helpful and you feel from the first moment you arrive at your leisure. Rooms are clean and tidy. It is great to retreat on the tranquil rooftop overlooking Marrakech and enjoying the sunset, after the bustle of the Medina.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
At the beginning there were two friends, Barbara and Elizabeth, and the charm of the Red Town. In an afternoon, walking in a quiet part of the Medina, called Riad Laarouss, close to Ben Youssef Mosque, they saw an old woman with a tattoo on her chin, standing in the street door. The woman was making great gestures to invite them into her house, which seemed very poor. In a corner of the courtyard, there were gathered together a lot of furniture and fittings, as waiting for moving. In fact the old woman said to the girls that the house has become too small for her family and she would like they be the new owners. According to the traditional Moroccan hospitality, the old woman offered them mint tea and cakes. She also introduced to them the last born in the family, Idris, a few-months baby, and Mustafà, a gentle and wise man who was living like a Hermit in his ... more   less
