The owner (a French lady called Joelle) had (at our request)organised a taxi from the Airport to the end of the street - from the outside it's impossible to believe what a little gem this place is. We were welcomed by the owner on our arrival and shown to our room which was charming - we were offered mint tea and pastries and chatted with the owner.
We arranged for an evening meal (chicken tagine) which was excellent and unhurried and set the standard for our stay (4 nights). The trip was to celebrate a special birthday for my Sister-in-Law and Joelle was very helpful in suggesting and booking restaurants and also organising taxis/giving directions.

All in all I could not fault the place or the staff who were always willing to help and make our stay with them pleasurable.

Room Tip: Get Joelle to arrange a pick up from Airport

This is a very welcoming Riad in a central position yet not in a noisy part of the city. Very helpful staff, good food and the ambiance is one of calm and quiet. The decor is light and airy with the original features of the building being used to create the effect of a traditional Marrakesh family house. We all enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone.

I have travelled in many parts of the world for business and leisure and seldom been made to feel so welcome. The Riad les Orangers d'Alilia is beautiful, relaxing and full of the most delicious scents of orange blossom from the trees and spices from the wonderful home cooking.

The rooms are pretty and well appointed; not huge but spacious. They were cleaned each day and not only fresh linen but fresh flowers provided.

Joelle and her staff were helpful, polite and delightfully friendly; eager to please and happy to make a cup of tea or provide cool drinks at a moments request.

The traditional tagines we had for dinner on two occassions were beautifully presented and the table decorated with rose petals and candles.

I have to disagree about the Riad being claustrophobic nor was it difficult to find; especially as Joelle arranged taxis for us on request. Like all riad's in the Kashbah, once we found our bearings it was easy to find and convenient for getting to all of the major attractions in the medina.

I would highly recommend Riad les Orangers d'Alilia Marrakech to anyone who wants to experience the authentic Marrakech medina with all the cleanliness and service of a European hotel.

Room Tip: Look on the hotel website to select your room.

My husband and I went to Marrakech for my birthday and stayed for 6 nights in this splendid Riad. The owner, Joelle, was an absolute gem - friendly, helpful and generous, as were her staff.

Tired after a long journey, Joelle greeted us with tea and pastries, a most generous welcome. She then showed us to our room and ensuite, which was elegantly furnished, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The bed was very comfortable with fine quality linen, ensuring a good night's sleep.

The Riad was in a quiet position in the Kasbah and it was lovely to come back to the calm of this beautiful Riad. We looked forward to putting our feet up, either in the room or to sunbath on the terrace, and relax with a book after the colourful, hectic bustle of Marrakech. Nothing was too much trouble for Joelle and her staff who, upon request, would make a lovely pot of tea with pastries.

If you couldn't face the hustle bustle of the main square of Jamaa el Fna or didn't fancy venturing far, there were some good places to eat that were only a few minutes walk away - Squab (French) was recommended by Joelle and was superb as was La Rotunda (Italian) and Les Jardines de la Medina (romantic). However, if you wanted to eat in the Riad, Joelle (by arrangement) will organise a splendid home cooked dinner, as she did for us on our last night. The meal was delicious, the setting in the Riad romantic and Joelle's added touches ensured an experience to remember.

Joelle really surprised and surpassed all our expectation on my birthday. We arrived home to find that she had arranged a beautiful bouquet of flowers in the room together with a lovely gift of hand made soaps.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful Riad, where nothing is too much trouble, and would highly recommend it.

We booked this Riad because of the many splendig reviews. We want to warn travellers that this Riad is in a really remote part of the Kasbah, that took endless walking to find, a good 30 minute walk to get to Jemaa el Fna the center square .
It was also hard for taxis to find, we carried a map with the exact location. There are no restaurants close by, so you are stuck with walking, its impossible to hail a cab also, until you have walked maybe 25 minutes in the narrow alleys .
The riad is well kept and immaculately decorated, the rooms however give a really claustrophobic feel as the only window opens to the courtyard. You will hear everything going in in the yard, and if you leave your window open you will be heard too. Toilet in our particular double room HAD NO DOOR , an open hallway going from bedroom to toilet & shower . So, if you want privacy when using the loo, choose other hotel accomodation in Marrakesh ...

We stayed at this riad for 3 nights at the end of our trip in Morocco. This riad was about half the price of the one we stayed at in Fes but the service, food, atmosphere and decor were far superior here. Joelle, the French owner, is very friendly, charming and helpful. Even before we arrived, Joelle had been very help and responsive on email, responding to our queries and assisting us with reservations. One morning we were getting picked up at 6 am for our hot air balloon ride and she woke up extra early just to make sure we had our breakfast, got picked up, and everything was in order.

The Medina in Marrakech can be a bit crazy with cars and scooters zipping by so it is really nice to come back to this riad where it is calm and tranquil. The decor is beautiful, the main colours are white and beige/sand and this is such a nice change from the other riads which have sharp, bright colours and busy patterns. The common area with the orange tree is beautiful and in the morning the birds who have built a nest on the roof sing and tweet as you have your breakfast. Dinner is served in the back dining area which is tastefully decorated and Joelle plays excellent CDs in the background.

We stayed in the Noa room and while it was not huge, it was enough space for the two of us. The bathroom was open but the toilet area was concealed by a wall. The shower had a rainshower and the towels are luxuriously thick and fluffy - both good touches. There is also wifi available in the common area, you can ask them for the password.

The lemon and olive chicken tagine we ate here on our first night was the best tagine I had in Morocco and trust me when I say I had more than half a dozen tagines! This one was juicy and flavourful.

All in all, I have to echo the other positive reviews here about Joelle's beautiful, tranquil riad. This place is such a gem and a real bargain. Joelle and her staff are delightful, attentive and caring. I would recommend this riad to my best friends.

Marrakech is a bustling and crowded city and the Riad Les Orangers D'Alilia is an oasis to return to after a day out in the city. Joelle delights in taking good care of her guests and paying attention to all the little details that make a place special-like fresh roses in your room and soft music and candlelight in the evening. After staying in Moroccon style riads that are filled with color it is also refreshing to stay somewhere with such a cooling and relaxing palate of whites and beige. The kitchen door was always open and spotlessly clean. The breakfast was lovely with a lot of little treats we didn't experience elsewhere in Morocco. Highly recommended riad and not too far to the main square. Drawback is that some of the rooms are a bit small and the roof top terrace could be made more comfortable for lounging.

Room Tip: I liked the room called Sofia the best.
