we have just had the most amazing time in marrakech, riad karmanda was clean, the staff were friendly,Ahmed arranged our transfer from the airport which we are pleased that he did as we would never have found it on our own,as it was down a narrow alleyway, well worth paying 20 euros each way for our transfers, Mina greeted us on our arrival and insisted she carried my case up the stairs, she made us a lovely home made morrocan meal on our first night which was very welcoming after our journey, Mina made breakfast for us each morning, pancakes, bread, jam marmalade, freshly squeezed orange juice and coffee, the room was nice and clean, shower was broken, told staff in the morning, by the time we came back from a few hours out the shower had been repaired very prompt service, the staff were always smiling and happy to tell us how to get about, and places of interest,it was also quiet easy to get to the main square about a 10 minute walk, and quiet striaght forward,we would definately go again as it was like home from home.

We have just returned from this trip to Marrakesh which we thoroughly enjoyed. The Riad was fabulous and everything that we envisaged. It was typically Moroccan with very friendly staff. Ahmed was so helpful giving us tips about the visit -and the breakfast was lovely. Also had a hammam (scrub) at the Riad which was fab. Would highly recommend this Riad if you want a real piece of Marrakesh -its a 5-10 minute walk to the major site of the central square.
This is the place for you if you want to feel part of the culture -and not afraid to venture as the Riad is down an alleyway -but so peaceful, when inside.

Room Tip: This Hotel is a typical Moroccan venue with 6 rooms around a central courtyard. There is a roof terra...

We stayed at Riad Karmanda for 7 nights during late November and early December. The Riad staff were helpful prior to arrival promptly confirming booking details and our questions about our stay, also arranging a taxi transfer for us, which was invaluable as the Riad is in a narrow alleyway that would be near impossible to find without assistance.

The manager and staff were very welcoming, and the Riad itself has a homely feel about it, where there is always a member of staff on site, mostly to allow access as you are not given a key to let yourself in.

The Riad and our room were clean but very plain and neither the room or the Riad as a whole offered the luxury that is maybe implied by the official pictures from the Riad. The bed was very comfy but we were limited to sitting or laying on the bed as the table and chairs in the room were more for appearance than use.

Some issues with our room included a broken shower head bracket, sink taps that would occasionally start leaking, nowhere to hang anything (wardrobe only had shelves), these issues are minor but just illustrate how plain the room was.

As for the Riad on the whole there is a roof terrace, which was small but perfectly useable, there is however a room that leads onto the terrace so if you are in this room you may have people outside your room constantly during the summer.

The Riad can be very noisy, this is inherent with this kind of building, and it only takes one group of guests to spoil a peaceful afternoon nap by being loud, something that happened to us a few times.

Breakfast consists of bread and batter. Crepes, crumpets, bread, muffins with butter, jam and Marmalade. Accompanying this, coffee and freshly squeezed juice. This was nice for a couple of days but became quite tiresome and repetitive.

Our major gripe with the Riad is the limited security of the rooms. We had a room safe which we used regularly. But we were like all other guests in the Riad are unable to lock the rooms, each room simply has a sliding bolt to close, leaving every room effectively open for staff and other guests to access if they wish.

We experienced an issue with security of our personal possessions during our stay involving a member of staff (who we have been assured has now been dismissed). The doors have the ability to be padlocked, but there have apparently been issues with keys being lost, so this practice no longer happens.

On the whole the Riad is pleasant and clean, but it is basic, not luxurious and this lack of security for individual rooms is a serious problem that should be addressed by the owners so as not to put the manager and other staff in compromising positions.

Stayed at this Riad for 4 nights. We had an enjoyable stay, the staff were all very friendly and helpful, giving us directions and advice in where to visit and helping us with our flight times after the times changed. We had a lovely meal on the first evening and would recommend it to any guests. The breakfast was lovely and made specially every day. Our room was a little small but wasn't a huge problem as we spent time relaxing in the courtyard and on the terrace. Great riad at excellent price. Thanks for a lovely stay.

We stayed at Riad Karmanda for 7 nights during our trip to Marrakech and I was very disappointed in every way. We arrived after a busy flight at 8pm to be met by the cook who knew nothing about our stay. She made a call, guided us to our room and advised that the manager would be with us shortly. He never appeared and we were starving after our travels.By this time another gentleman was on reception who knew nothing of our arrival and then checked us in. The following morning the manager was in but he did not even greet us.He simply told us that we were in the wrong room and must move all our belongings. The room we moved to was awful. No shower on the wall, blocked drains and the toilet didnt flush!. We were shipped out for someone staying a couple of nights which it turns out later down the line were confused with ourselves. The Riad also arranged an expensive excursion for us which turned out not to have an english speaking guide at a cost of 35 euros each, on arrival at our destination we had to pay a separate guide followed by a charge for the boat ride, lunch with a choice of 3 things and then to end a long day we were all thrown off the bus in the middle of Marrakech with no idea where we were
We felt very singled out in this Riad and this appeared to be because we were not French although we did try our best with what knowledge we do have.
Awful experience and ruined our hard earned holiday.

Location is good, only 10 minutes walking to the main square. The riad is quiet and is decorated with elegance. We met with Ahmed in the skirts of Marrakech and showed us a place to park the car. At the Riad, we were given a map and were told about places of interest and what to avoid. We were also given a telephone number we could call at any time should we get lost, so someone from the riad could come and fetch us. Ahmed gave us a very warm farewell too, has he joined us by the car park. Very Good!

This place was far superior than expected the manager and staff are very friendly and nothing is a trouble. The meals and breakfasts are great and I they have beer and wine chilling in the fridge that's not expensive.
I got up before my friends most morning and the cook would ring me a coffee with a friendly bonjour as if reading my mind for the need of caffeine. The two young woman who keep the place spotless never stop laughing and this is very infectious and we often found ourselves laughing over nothing.
A five minute walk up a long straight road and your into the centre of the market square.I would e finally come here again it's cheap and convenient in every way.
