We had a wonderful stay at this Riad. The staff are warm and friendly and while communication was limited, we got by just fine. We enjoyed everything about this riad! I would highly recommend staying here.

We really enjoyed our stay at Bab Agnaou and would definitely recommend it!

Good points:
-Great location. Out of the most touristy part of the city but close to everything. 10 minute walk to Jemaa el-Fna.
-Very nice staff. The woman who runs the riad is just the sweetest lady. She really made us feel welcome, made us mint tea and cookies on arrival, made a nice breakfast every morning, and was a pleasure.
-Beautiful riad. The courtyard is nice, terrace is lovely to watch the sunset. Our room was a little chilly when we got there, but there was a very good radiator/space heater that heated the whole room up in 20 minutes.
-Good price! We were on a budget and we feel it was a good value for our money.

Other points:
-The housekeeper who is mainly the one there speaks absolutely zero English. We also learned from a French couple there that though she spoke a few words of French, it was very difficult to communicate with her. We saw the owner a couple times, and he's very nice, but only spoke a little English. Bottom line: don't depend on the staff for directions or sightseeing advice.
-The jacuzzi on the terrace was empty/out of operation. We were there in February, so maybe they fill it in the summer, but it still was different than the pictures showed.
-When we arrived at the airport, we asked about six taxi drivers, and the woman at the information desk, if they knew where this riad was. Nobody knew. We showed them the address, and though they knew the area it was in, they didn't recognize the street name. We ended up being dropped off at the gate close to the riad, but we had to depend on a teenage boy to show us where the riad was, which in Marrakech as you might learn, is really not the thing to do. Always know where you're going. Bottom line: Try to get the riad to arrange a cab to collect you from the airport, as this cab would know where the riad is, OR maybe try to have one of the staff meet you at the Bab Agnaou gate upon arrival so they can lead you there. Most Moroccans don't have any idea where it is.

Also, I noticed another reviewer said that the staff hogged the "TV room" and sat in there all day. I just wanted to point out that it's not a TV room for guests that she's talking about, but the living quarters for the woman who runs it. She lives in the riad 24/7 on the ground floor to tend to guests. She has a kitchen and one room (with a TV) that she uses when she's not needed. So yeah....that's not a guest area.

Anyway, this is a great place to stay. A peaceful, beautiful, relaxing spot to come back to after days of chaos in Marrakech.

Rooms are smaller than pictured. First night cockroach in room. Bathroom shower arm didn't work. Shower flooded. Second night light in bathroom flickered. Third night slept with the smell of sewerage all night. Checked out next morning. Promised wifi - non existant. Staff excellent but spoke no English. To get to Riad, had to walk past the smelly fish markets. Would not recommend.

Room Tip: Try Riad Awa.

Nine of us had a short break at Riad Baba Agnou (our second visit) The accomodation is spotlessly clean and the decoration delightful. there is heating in all the bedrooms but we didn't need it. We loved the colour themed bed rooms. Breakfasts were yummy with fresh orange juice, crepes, pain au chocolate and fresh bread, local honey etc. Unlimited good coffee. the roof terrace is wonderful for sun bathing or watching the sunset with a drink in hand!
We ordered a meal in advance the first night and it was one of the best we ate...as good as Al Fassia but much cheaper! wonderful vegetable salads and starters and then a huge tagine and fruit. The proprietor kindly procured wine at a reasonable price and was unfailingly helpful. He also ordered cars to return us to the airport for 15 euros...worth it to have transport that arrived bang on time. We would throughly recommend for the location, the value for money and the pleasant and helpful staff
