We stayed in Riad Radia in November 2013. We booked via last minute.com and weren't sure what to expect but we were pleasantly surprised. The Riad is located down a small road off of Square Jamal El Fnaa which takes you away from the noise and hubbub of the square. The Riad is traditionally decorated, cool and air conditioned and the staff are all friendly and helpful. Our French was lacking for communication with the staff, but we managed to get by. The rooftop terrace is beautiful, you can see right over the city and the sunsets are fabulous up there. The riad has quite thin walls, so you can hear everything going on in the other rooms, so privacy can be an issue. Added to that, it is centred between four mosques, so if you like a lie-in you may well be woken up at 5.30AM. Other than that, it was a very nice stay at Riad Radia, the weather was gorgeous and we will definitely be back. For future travellers to Riad Radia we would strongly recommend booking the airport transfers, as the Riad is hard to find if you have not been taken there yourself, and any taxis you pick up from the airport will just drop you off on the edge of the square leaving you to navigate masses of people by yourself. You do end up paying more by the airport transfers, but its definitely worth the lack of hassle of trying to find your way there (about 20 euros).

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and would definitely recommend to Riad Radia to anyone wanting to see the 'real' Marrakech from inside the medina amidst all the souks.

P.S HAGGLE FOR EVERYTHING! (unless it has a price tag, then you just look silly.)

Disappointing as had booked and paid ahead via Last Minute only to be told there was an over booking issue and was offered alternative accommodation in a villa outside the medina. Only when went to leave did the owner say she would sort something out and move someone else (which I thought was an unusual practice and felt very uncomfortable about). Ended up staying two nights. Riad was nice and some of the staff lovely but marred by the experience and it appeared other guests had the same over booking issue. I understand that this may be common practice in Marrakech for some places to overbook and then offer an inferior alternative so would advise to be careful.

Nice enough little place with some friendly staff. But they do the old airline trick of over-booking and then moving you to either their villa outside the town or a grotty hotel round the corner.
This "error" seems to have happened to every guest and although some enjoyed the change of scene, others were frustrated at not getting the room they paid for. Lots of dramatic apologies from the manager, but I wouldn't recommend Riad Radia if you want a reliable booking or a peaceful stay.

I had a fantastic stay, as for the staff, essentially “Houda” she never stops. My school boy French and Houda’s more advanced English got us through, but it’s as well to learn a few phrases. The place is 30 seconds from the square, perfectly placed in fact. You will get early morning call from the Mosque, but you know; that s the point! Go tomorrow if you cannot go today.

I shared the suit on the top of the Riad ( I strongly recommand it) with my fiance for our first trip in Morocco. The place is great, the staff is great, the location could not be better to feel the real life of Marrakech.

I recommand to anybody who wants to discover the rich moroccan culture and the medina in a safe and casual way.

It was lengen ... wait for it Dary : )

This was our first time in Morocco and we found this online. It is a fantastic place to stay. The riad is beautiful and the owner and the staff could not have been more helpful. We stayed a week and it was the most relaxing and enjoyable holiday we have ever had. Rajaa the owner said ‘Our home is your home’ and meant it. Every time we came back from exploring the souk or further afield, they asked if we needed anything, and produced tea and coffee whenever we wanted it. They arranged a pick up from the airport, negotiated with a driver for a day trip and even cooked dinner for us when we were too tired from sightseeing to venture out again. We are both pensioners – in fact the holiday was to celebrate one of us reaching 75- but I would say to any older person thinking of visiting Marrakech, just do it, but stay here where Huda, Mohammad and Rajaa really do look after you. For us, this is the only place to stay in Marrakech.

The Riad is beautiful with many intricate hand crafted doors, mosaics etc. and is based incredibly centrally in the old Medina part of Marrakech. The place, itself, is serenely quiet (apart from at call to prayer times, when everywhere in the Medina gets blasted with a megaphone). The owner is lovely, kind, and will speak French as clearly and simply as she can so that even those with a very basic understanding can get by easily. Oh, and the wifi is nice and quick. All in all, I cannot recommend this Riad more highly. Ask beforehand for the Riad to arrange an airport taxi pickup for you as, otherwise, you'll have difficulty finding the place on your first arrival (which is true of most Riads on the cramped streets of the old town).
