It was my fiancé's birthday and we decided to visit Morocco for this occasion! We booked with voyage prive, we been guided through by Morocco Explored! Boy we were lucky! Amazing trip with an amazing driver ADNAN(highly recommended to pre book him!)
We traveled through the Atlas mountains, through the desert, visited small villages, up and down going further and further!
Visited film studios, ate camel, slept in a tent in the desert, saw the milky way.
This is a memory for a lifetime!
Thank you Adnan, thank you Morocco Explored!

Rachid is a pretty good and patience person. He is our friend and we have a great trip. Because of him, our trip is safe, comfortable and happy. We went a lot of places and he gave us a wonderful tour. Because of Rachid, I wanna back to Morocco again and again. We started our trip from Marrakech, and pass through the Sahara Desert and arrived at Fes. I will suggest all my friends who come to Morocco to find Rachid and his company. I will come back to Morocco and I will choose Rachid and his company again. For people who want to come to Morocco and want to have a wonderful trip, it is the best choice to find Rachid. Trust me:)

Morocco Explored (ME) tour agency: We communicated with Robbin before the trip. Responses were fairly prompt, some replies were received a few days later or required a follow-up e-mail. Out of several tour groups we compared, ME allowed for our exhaustive tour of Morocco - Marrakech, Essaouira, Sahara/Erg Chebbi, Meknes, Volubilis, Chefchaouen, and Casablanca. It was also the group that worked best for our budget. We had a lead member of our group communicate with Robbin who provided us with an itinerary. Our group of 5 had different arrival and departure times, which added to the cost of the tour, but was easily accommodated by Robbin and her team. Online payment was very easy, and we decided to pay in 2 installments. Confirmation of payment was fantastic and made us feel comfortable with how everything was handled. Itinerary, hotel accommodations, and travel information with ME handbook were sent before the trip. I did wish there was a little more communication with ME in the couple of days leading up to the trip. Also, it may be helpful for the local tour director and driver to know specific start times and expected drop off times if possible for group planning as well as to have our group's itinerary before we arrive. Overall, the tour was well organized, had a reasonable cost, and I would readily use them again for a tour of Morocco.

Driver: Youssef B. was our main driver for the entire duration of the 10-day tour in Morocco (the only other drivers were for a friend joining us a day later and leaving earlier than the rest of our group - this was easily arranged with Youssef to maximize my friend's time with all of us and in Morocco). Youssef was an outstanding driver. He's your best fit as someone fun, relaxed, and careful with his driving. He had a fun personality that worked very well for our group of friends in our 30s. For those of you who haven't been to Morocco, it has some of the craziest traffic and driving I've witnessed from my international trips, especially with the many roundabouts. Youssef was very careful with his driving and communicated very well with us and the other drivers. He speaks English well enough for the tour, but is also fluent in Arabic, French, and proficient in Spanish. As long as the group knows what they'd like to do and can provide time frames directly, Youssef always strove to accommodate us, and this included some detours. He was almost always on time for pickups (he'll usually give you a call 5-10 minutes beforehand so that you can meet him at a pickup location), and helped with opening doors and with our luggage at each stop. He also helped to lower the middle seat so that people could get into the backseat more than 50 times or something - great service. He would then walk us to our riad to make sure that everything was in order. At each destination, we would let him know how much time we would need, and he accommodated our times very well. For some tourist spots, like the Grand Mosque in Casablanca, we did wish we had a heads up about the tour times for non-Muslim visitors to enter the mosque so that we could get to the destination on time, but this could have been easily researched by us as well (pro tip: tours are available mostly in the morning, definitely before 4 PM, and are best with an official booked guide). We had appropriate stops along the long drives during our trip, which included coffee, food, and restroom breaks. We got to see his fun side as well - have him play you some of his Moroccan music (he loves R&B/rap). He'll readily allow you to be your own DJ and play your own music and charge your phone. He'll turn the music and his phone down when there are people sleeping in the car, which was appreciated. Food stops were at clean facilities, but if you want something local, he'll find places for you (he took us to a couple of Moroccan BBQ places, which were awesome, and it was great eating all together and learning how to eat with our hands!). The 4x4 car worked well during off-road trips to our destination - I did wish we had more A/C during some parts of the trip. Seatbelts were in working order and comfortably fit our group of 5 (total of 6 people including the driver). Having 6 or 7 people in the car will be very tight. We appreciated that he would freshen up the car with "rose water" and kept the car tidy. Luggage was stored securely with a mesh net on the top of the car. Youssef will stay locally (and should have accommodations through ME, but there was one night when he had to sleep in the car, which was unfortunate, as the riad could not accommodate him - he was still very patient and gracious, and had no complaints about this, which speaks to this good character!). He is easily reached through WhatsApp phone/text and responses promptly. One of our friends did not feel well during one of the days of the trip, and he has good intuition and reached out to make sure that our friend was OK. Later during the day, our friend needed more rest and after contacting him, he went out of his way to come to where were were touring and brought my friend back to the hotel without any complaints. We truly appreciated his efforts! Youssef also took took some GREAT photos on his phone (like us, he's an older millennial with good social media skills) and shared this with our group. He worked very hard during our long tour with some days requiring more than 7 hours of driving. He also took us to some nice spots for panoramic views of the city, including trekking with us up to the Spanish mosque in Chefchaouen for an amazing night view on his own time. He didn't expect a tip at the end of the trip, but we certainly wanted to show our appreciation for his 5 star service. We also treated him a couple of times to meals during the trip, which he was very modest and gracious about. I can't say enough about Youssef, and he really looked out for our safety, well-being and happiness. Ask for Youssef - highly recommend!

Arrival: You should expect customs and luggage checks to take some time at the airport. Our driver waited about 4 hours (possibly more) for our group of 4 to make it. Salah, one of the local tour directors, called to check in on us as well to make sure the pickup was smooth. One friend who arrived the next day initially had some trouble finding the driver (not ME's fault), but Salah and our driver, made prompt phone calls and was able to find my friend and communicated this information back to our lead.

Riads/Hotels: Each riad and hotel seemed to get better and better during our trip. For our group of 5 (3 men/2 women), we had 2 rooms at each facility. Some quick notes about each:
- Marrakech, 2 nights: Riad Hamdane - very close to the medina's square (easy 1 minute walk). Tight fit for 3 persons in one room. Sinks and showers with drainage issue. Breakfast was great on the roof top. Service was fantastic.
- Essaouira, 1 night: Wind Palace - in the heart of downtown with great views during breakfast. Rooms were clean and slightly bigger than Riad Hamdane.
- Ait Benhaddou, 1 night: Riad Maktoub - awesome! Dinner and breakfast service were outstanding, and it is an easy 5 minute walk to the base of the old kasbah. The rooms all have a unique character.
- Tinehir, 1 night: Hotel Tomboctu - rooms were much bigger. Dinner was good. Breakfast is buffet style with an attendant to help you toast your food and will offer you drink service.
- Erg Chebbi, 1 night: Auberge Yasmina - you will leave luggage here and then depart on the camel trek to a desert camp. We did wish the camp we stayed at was more "natural" as fluorescent lighting everywhere detracted from the natural beauty of the desert and skies. The dinner was delicious (tangine, of course). The evening dance/drum performance was poor - the performers did try to make an effort to get the crowd involved, but the performers themselves lacked enthusiasm and didn't seem that into putting on a show. We heard much more lively music coming from a camp further away. When we got back to auberge in the morning after the sunrise camel trek, we were told that there were no rooms available for us to shower. There is a public shower located on the premises that we could use, but this was a bit disappointing for us.
- Fes, 2 nights: Riad El Yacout - great! Rooms facing the fountain and closer to the ground were a bit noisy for some members of our group. This was the largest accommodations we had for the group. Rooms could have been better cleaned, but that is a hotel issue and not ME's fault.
- Chefchaouen, 2 nights: Chez Hicham - in the hart of the blue city and close to the pick up/drop off point. Best location. Rooms were fantastic, but housekeeping was lacking. Good food and views.

Tour guides (included) - if stops at local shops is not your thing, you can easily request not to visit them. Our group went along with our guides, and we ended up gaining some educational insight into the craftsmanship of various goods. Most of the places did not pressure us into buying something.
- Marrakech: Amin was outstanding and really knows the city well. He's also very charitable and friendly with the locals. He'll help with group photos. Best tour guide of the 10-day tour. We were taken to a rug shop, which was interesting to see and to learn about - we didn't feel pressured to make a purchase. We were also taken to a scarf shop, which was the only negative part of the tour as the shop owner was unpleasant and got angry that we were not making more scarf purchases than the 2 that we wanted).
- Essaouira: no official guide, but we did make stops along the way to see an Argan oil cooperative (no pressure to buy) and a stop to take pictures of goats in Argan trees (locals will expect a tip, as with any photos you generally take of locals or are geared towards tourists). I'd stick with the restaurants near the downtown area instead of the boardwalk, unless you want a nice view of the ocean.
- Atlas Mountain area: Our berber guide was great. It was very nice to walk through the gardens and learn about berber culture. We were taken a smaller rug shop (different than the one in Marrakech) and learned from one of the female berbers about how rugs are made from start to finish. This was very educational. We didn't feel pressured to make a purchase.
- Fes: We didn't have "Tommy" as mentioned in the other reviews and wished we did. Our experience with our tour guide was very different and did not jive well with our group. From the get go, the tour was rigid, and we felt that the tour guide was not friendly. Our perception was that he demanded attention whenever he was speaking and was short with us on several occasions. He did know the area well, was friendly with all of the locals in the markets, and was professional in his services. We were taken to Poterie de Fes (ceramics cooperative), which was educational, and we did not feel pressured to make a purchase. We were also taken to a leather goods shop that had an amazing view of the tanneries (again, no pressure to make purchases). We did request a lunch stop, and we were taken a nice place for tourists with great food and service, but it was quite expensive.
- Meknes: we wish we had an official tour guide and some more time here, but we had to get to our destination in time and Volubilis was much more interesting, anyway.
- Volubilis: no official guide, but we did pay for one at the entrance (200 dirham/hour was a steep price and could have been negotiated, but we were a group of 5).

Overall impression: Good, organized, reasonably priced tour for our group of friends in their 30s. Good accommodations in exceptional locations. Official tour guides included in tour were mostly great with a couple of exceptions. Our driver, Youssef B., made for a fun and outstanding trip! The memories created were priceless.

I'm not certain what my expectations of Morocco were going to be but I have to say that it wasn't what I expected - it exceeded my expectations in every way. Our guide/driver Abdul, was an absolute delight. He provided us with excellent recommendations (restaurants, etc. during our wander on your own time). We were a group of 5 women ( including a mother daughter combo) and he went out of his way to make sure each of us felt welcome and comfortable - not only would I recommend him as a guide but have already done so. He went above and beyond by even modifying on the fly based on the weather. The tour which was designed specifically for us was everything we hoped for and more. In addition the guides we had in specific locations were excellent as were the locations of Riads

Thank you Morocco Explored for an experience I will never forget

It is supposed to be our trip of a life time. Before we decided to use Morocco Explored (ME), I also contacted several other tour operators. Our objective was very specific: private photography tour. I communicated with Robbin to tailor a customized itinerary and to ensure we will have support from the more experience driver/ guide. Although we enjoyed our first time in Morocco, unfortunately ME does not really provide what we are looking for in terms of photography.

The driver is the most critical part of your road trip across different part of Morocco. Especially when you spend 9 days with him. In our case, we wish we had the driver who was great like many others had reviewed.

Worth to mention is Thammy, the candy man, who was an excellent guide in Fes. He is very knowledgable and pleasant guy. The highlight of the tour was the overnight in dessert camp, because we were very lucky to have Adhi as our camel guide. He was genuinely helpful and understand our need for photography.

Thank Jigrak
