“Awesome hotel, great location.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 September 2010

We stayed for 4 nights at La Renaissance and thought that the limited reviews and pictures meant that we were taking a bit of a risk, when in fact it exceeded our expectations massively.

The Hotel has been recently refurbished to an amazingly high standard, the rooms are gorgeous, beds are really comfy and all communal areas (especially the rooftop pool & bar). The staff were incredibly helpful (even to the extent that the doorman trekking round Marrakech on a Sunday to find a pharmacy that sold medication for my friend!).

We wanted a beautiful ornate hotel but with air-conditioning and a pool to cope with the heat, so we decided to stay in the new town and not in a RIad in the old town. For us this was the best decision. You can get a taxi to the old town for 15 Dirhams, and our hotel was close to loads of great restaurants and the Majorelle (YSL) garden.

We toured round Marrakech & ended up in Essaouira which we didn't like (bad hotel choice at the Ibis!) so we left early & came back to the Renaissance for our last night.

The bar & restaurant were nice, good choice of breakfast (included a cooked menu which was all inclusive). The bar food was not cheap (about £8/10 for main course) we chose to eat in local restaurants in the vicinity. The hotel is also close to one of the only supermarkets in Marrakech (Acima) which is really handy.

We visited Marrakech for my partners 50th birthday. What a Brilliant hotel and the staff was always helpful with a smile. We were upgraded to a suite, and the room was immaculate - bright, clean the the linen wonderful. I had a massage and slept very well. The hotel is in the heart of the city and the views were wonderful. We sampled every part of the hote, the sky bar, 6th floor restaurant etc etc. Thanks for making our stay in Marrakech wonderful!

We really enjoyed our stay in this modern clean hotel. The breakfasts were fabulous and the roof pool really relaxing. The room was very clean and the walk in shower was great after a day exploring the city. The bed and bed linen were some of the nicest we've had in a hotel. The problem we had was the noise. It was a toss up between noise from the road on the lower floors or noise from the top floor restaurant on the 5th floor. Our mini bar wasn't working and it took 3 complaints to get it fixed but other than that the staff were really helpful. There are some great restaurants around this area and it only cost 20 MAD to get to the old city in a taxi. Would recommend but stay on the 4th floor with a room with a shower.

The Sky Bar on the very topmost terrace of this hotel is a very stylish addition to the Marrakech bar scene. Take the lift to the 6th floor and walk up a last staircase and you are on top of Gueliz. I went there last week for drinks and they also serve finger food, one portion is enough for two. It's windy up that high so take a sweater at night! Amazing views though and the drink prices are similar to most upmarket bars in town. The restaurant wasn't open when I visited but they said it would be by the end of the month.
