This is a fantastic place - no need to pick any where else to stay in Marrakech!

We have stayed in many large, luxury hotels but the level of service that we experienced here surpasses any of those hotels. Valentina and Yajaira are amazing - the owner is very lucky to have these 2 fantastic ladies running the place along with all the other staff who work there. Nothing is too much trouble and when they found out that the trip was for my birthday they went to great lengths to make it a special stay.

Whilst our room was small it was spotlessly clean and after the new rooms are completed it will no longer be used for guests.

Whilst the Riad is in a slightly out of the way location, you are given a phone in case you are lost and the staff really do make sure you are well looked after.

I only wish that there was more opportunity to sample the amazing food - it was truly fantastic but this is only available to sample at breakfast and at dinner on arrival.

This is a wonderful place to stay. I tried hard to think about what it is that makes it so very special and the answer may be that the owners have hit upon a remarkably simple concept - employ top quality staff and train them to treat their customers with genuine kindness and respect.

We enjoyed every minute at Riad Kheirredine, it is such a nice little oasis from the hustle and bustle of Marrakech life. But in order to appreciate life outside this oasis the staff equip you with maps and mobile phones, and insist on escorting you to anywhere that they might feel you would otherwise get lost finding. The fact that we never actually got lost is mainly thanks to Elena (Helena?), who is the true backbone of the Riad - it was she who 'trained' us how to get to jemaa el fna and back again. Contrary to the report below, there is absolutely no problem with the Riad's location - we went out until late at night and didn't feel remotely threatened when we returned (unpleasant neighbourhoods? Rubbish, everyone we encountered even at 11.30pm was friendly and jovial). There is a major extension currently being undertaken which will include a swimming pool - whilst this should be welcomed, I hope it doesn't affect the distinctly personal nature of this wonderful hotel.

Room Tip: Eucalyptus is a wonderful room as is Ambre.

Riad Kheirredine is really something special, different and unique, an experience worth having!
It is a place with character, a beautiful oasis in the middle of the magic Medina: a shelter for peace and relax after a busy day in this amazing city.
Breakfast on the terrace was absolutely fantastic.
But the real added value is the staff! Those people are amazing, they will treat and pamper you like you were their best friend coming to Marrakech visiting them.
Valentina, Yajaira, Daniele, Helena, and everybody else went the extra mile to make us feel better than home, always with a smile and I tell you, sometimes it was not so easy as we were a family group of 15 of which 8 children and teenagers.
We will definitely come back! Grazie Infinite!

We didn't have any expectations before arriving. We expected another hotel amongst the hundreds we have stayed at. But this was really something else. The location, in the heart of the old city, is romantic and exotic. But the thing that really makes the whole thing stand out is the incredible welcome from the staff. Everyone says that they can't do enough for you, but few people comment on the charming informality of everyone. Everyone knows who you are, there is no question of having to sign for everything you want and the service is always impeccable.

We have travelled extensively in the Middle East, but I can imagine that some visitors feel intimidated by the arrival with the taxi having to stop several hundred metres from the riad with the rest of the journey made on foot through narrow passages. Always ask the riad to book the taxi from the airport and then you will be assured to be in safe hands.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Eucalyptus room which was very comfortable with a huge bed. But they are extending...

Reception
We paid to be collected from and back to the airport, this was quick and easy with no problems, where the taxi journey ends, the last leg to the Riad is with the luggage being pushed in a hand cart - all part of the charm of Marrakech.
Upon arrival in the Riad we were met by Valentina who sat us down in the courtyard with tea and biscuits to tell us the rules! There aren't any: apart from Enjoy Yourself, anything you want, just ask! She gave us a mobile phone to use for the duration in case we got lost - more of that later!

Room
We were then shown to our rooms which consisted of a bathroom with a shower, WC and sink and two fabulous towel gowns, up a small flight of stairs to the lounge room, big double bed type lounging area with wardrobe space, up another flight of steps to the bedroom, with big comfortable double bed. There are no tea or coffee making facilities - why- because by picking up the phone you can get anything in your room any time you like! 5 star service! We were given the code for the WIFI, the signal is really strong throughout the Riad, so if you need to keep up with work or home go ahead - it's all free.

Staff
The staff are all WONDERFUL, so helpful and obliging and willing and eager - there are 5 Filipino staff who take care of all the cleaning and waiting services, a number of local lads who act as guides and waiters and cooks and of course Valentino and Yajaira who are faultless in their management of the Riad. All the staff take pride in the Riad and in their work and it shows, everyone always has a smile on their face and it's contagious, so be warned!

Riad
The Riad itself is located away from the hustle and bustle of the Souk, so no real noise apart from what you would expect from living in an old town that has probably been in existence for many hundreds of years, there are no cars going past because the streets are too narrow and the corners too sharp, but the donkeys manage no problem toiling with their small carts behind them, carrying anything that is too heavy for a person to carry. Of course there are kids who only have the street to play in after school, the mosques of which there are quite a few in the area, the mopeds and motor scooters, the cats and a dog who sometimes barks like dogs do, so if you want a perfectly quiet place to stay, don't go to Medina, Marrakech! The owner has bought an adjoining property and that is presently being knocked about and re built with a swimming pool and about 6 new rooms. So, there is some banging and knocking, but never early in the morning and not late at night, it didn't disturb us during our stay - in fact it was hardly noticeable at all except if we were in the roof area and we found it easy to shut out. Most of the banging and knocking down is now finished and the rebuild is now going on, so it will be even better to stay here once the building work is completed.

Location
The Riad is located about a 10 minute walk from the Souks, or market stalls, we were guided from the Riad to the large square area which is the focal point for Medina by our Riad guide who took pains to point out the key areas to look out for if we were to find our way back to the Riad, but we got hopelessly lost on our way back! We walked for miles and must have seen the whole of the Medina before we decided to call on the mobile we had been given and ask to be guided back to the Riad. After about 5 minutes, two of the staff turned up on their mopeds and whisked us back to the Riad like two modern James Bonds, it was quite an experience and a lot of fun. After that, when we went out next we took photo's on our mobile phone of the key points and turns we had to make on our way to the Souks, so that on the way back we just followed the picture trail and we never got lost again on our way back.

Effort
The staff at the Riad all make a tremendous effort to ensure you are treated fabulously during your stay, as one of the staff said, it is our aim to make you feel like a king and a queen during your holiday - and they certainly did that.

Meals
We had a traditional Moroccan Lamb Tagine cooked for us one evening, which was delicious and a lighter Italian Turkey dish on another evening which was equally delicious. Breakfasts are made to your request and can be changed every day if you wish. There is enough to last you all day and even more if you pig out, but why would you, if you are in the Riad and want something - just ask!

Riad Kheirredine is a hidden gem that provides spectacular views, a great location, beautiful rooms and the best service I have encountered at a hotel. Anywhere!

Location-wise it is perfect, being inside the walls of the Medina, only a 10 minute walk to the infamous souks and a further 10 minutes to the palaces and the main square. Although the riad is situated close to the busy souks you must walk through some winding passages (which provided a great back drop to photographs!) and means that when you are inside the riad it is very peaceful and quiet.

The riad arranged for us to be picked up from the airport and driven to the nearest taxi point to the riad where we were met by someone who walked us to the riad and a boy who took care of our luggage. The other couple that were meant to be travelling with us lost their luggage (Valentina, you know who!) and as a consequence meant that we waited for around 40 minutes at the airport before we left for the riad - this wasn't the riad's fault at all but they were extremely apologetic and didn't charge us for dinner/drinks on the first evening!

Throughout the stay we ate breakfast on the rooftop terrace each morning which provided a panoramic view of Marrakech. The food was always great and because the riad is so intimate, with few rooms, at times felt like we were the only guests with all efforts directed on us. Every morning and evening one of the men from the riad would walk through the winding alleys to the road, even though we knew the way after a couple of walks and felt perfectly safe - it was just simply a nice touch! We were also given a Moroccan mobile phone at no charge in case we wanted to call the riad to ask any questions/ directions! The surrounding area by no means seems dangerous and we often walked around on our own at midnight with no one accompanying us; it is just nice to have the option for a guide/ mobile phone if you do so require it.

Valentina and Yajaira made our trip extra special and our experience in Marrakech would not have been the same had they not been there. Every morning we were greeted with smiles and they helped us organise our day with lots of enthusiasm, ranging from restaurant bookings, to tours of the Atlas Mountains and camel rides! If only every hotel had a Valentina and Yajaira!! Everyone at the riad was extremely friendly and made us feel special - this is something that is impossible to experience at a large hotel. This truly is a boutique hotel!
At the end of our stay we were asked how the riad could be improved but the experience completely surpassed our expectations (despite having chosen to stay there based on it being #1 on trip adviser). Just two notes to other travellers: there are no televisions in the rooms - this was not a problem for us at all as we spent as much time as possible outdoors but if you are expecting this then you may be disappointed; the pool in the courtyard is beautiful but slightly too small for doing lengths and is more for splashing around or just relaxing and cooling off in the heat. This however should be expected from a small riad so central to the city.

If we return to Marrakech there is no doubt that we will stay at the Riad Kheirredine. In summary this charming riad is clean, subtly luxurious, boasts world class service and most importantly offers a taste of what Marrakech is really like.

We were 2 couples in our fifties and wanted to experience Medina life rather than New City and hence chose this riad, largely after reading the many positive reviews. We had a 3 night stay in early March. Happy to say, and to confirm, that it was a great experience - from being met at the airport to the warm welcome on arrival. The rooms were extremely well furnished and comfortable although we spent much of our time there on the lovely terrace areas, where we were very well looked after by the staff. The location is an essential part of its charm and we were always offered a guide to negotiate the surrounding maze, but prided ourselves in getting around ourselves quite successfully! Valentina, Yajaira and their staff were brilliant and unfailingly cheerful, helpful and courteous at all times. We particularly appreciated being able to have the use of our room on our last day there until we left at 5.30pm, having picked up a bug that morning! A huge thank you to all at the Riad and we would look forward to returning.
