Owner description: Tour Guide Marrakech is expanding southward! Now my focus is on day trips from Marrakech, as well as joining a day tour with a vehical in the city with a second day with the same driver in the High Atlas. Having seen the bustling souks of Marrakech, where the energy is full on, you can then relax to the tranquility of the Atlas, avoiding the heavy tourism in favor of a higher path. Here you can relax to the tranquility of the High Atlas and experience how people really, which to a great extent is much like it has been for centuries.. The path above Setti Fodma leads to trekking adventures going south (should you have more than a day to spend in the Atlas Mountains), and northward - a fairly level 25 minute hike - you can visit my village and have couscous on the terrace of my Berber house, the High Atlas Retreat, as a part of your day trip exploring the villages of the High Atlas.High Atlas Retreat is definitely a place to wind down with a view that is truly spectacular! I envision travellers coming to get an intimate view of village life where few westerners go even though it is just over an hour's drive from Marrakech; and others come in search of a place where there are discussions, as well, about East/West issues and where our world is going in this juncture where not only can you experience a thriving, indigenous culture and seek new ways to see our own lives outside the confines of globalization. And...the High Atlas Mountain Retreat is a great place for birdwatching!

Tod arranges a personalised tour of city to suit your tastes. We did a day tour and were guided through the labyrinthe of alleyways and mazes with personal observations and anecdotes. City was still a little tense post-bombings: Tod recognised the issues and expertly guided us away from the more volatile spots. Tod - along with the attendant local guide- gives a fascinating and somewhat eclectic viewpoint.

A MUST if you are going to Marrakesh, Morocco. A friend recommended booking a trip with Tod. We took him up on the recommendation and couldn’t have been happier. Todd offers a peek into Moroccan life that you simply don’t see on your own. We booked the Old Town tour and the High Atlas tour and both were amazing. In the old town tour, Tod shows you the little streets, shops, and alleys, which you don’t see on your own. Doing the old town tour of Marrakesh is a great way to start a Moroccan trip. The high atlas tour was breathtaking. Tod and his colleague Sheboub take you up into the mountains to see a snapshot of daily Berber life. Walking through the High Atlas Mountains and visiting several Berber’s houses while enjoying tea and lunch will be an experience you will never forget. We were also able to meet a local artist who will write your name in Arabic for a great price! The whole day was such a memorable event that we’ll be telling our friends and families about for years to come! Tod was incredibly accommodating and was able to personalize our trip to exactly what we wanted. He exceeded our expectations and his customer service was top notch! Don’t second-guess taking any of Tod’s tours. This is an absolute must for your Moroccan experience!

Tod is a great guide. He is American but has lived in Marrakech for 7-8 years. He works with local guides in a team approach. His Moroccan official guide Kareem was awesome and really gave us a color of how it is to be a Morrocan.

I really recommend Tod and Kareem!

We spent 5 days in Marrakesh in March and whilst the weather was not good Tod had been booked and we were able to underake two tours with him. One around the Medina and Souks which was exactly as we wanted no reall shopping but a phototour and he had teamed up with Kasim who added to Tod s Knowledge and what a day of fun and laughter was had by all. Went to many areas of the souk that were fansinating and had a great lunch in a wonderful cafe also took in the a museam, and the Koranic school and literay cafe. Saw bread being made, the Artisan and Jewish quarters. Alos had a great explanation of all the rugs and how they are made with little pressure to buy.

The second day we visited a village home with the bread being made and watched the mint tea being created with tremendous views of the country side, then on to the mountain Village where Tod is buying a house and then on to a village where we had a traditional meal which superb and then back down the mountain to a 100 year old water mill that is used communially to grind their corn.
A fasinating trip if a lttle wet!!

We were a party of four visiting Marrakech February/March 2011.

Tod was our guide for a full day walking tour of the city, then a full day tour by minibus up into the High Atlas mountains. We discussed the itinerary ahead ahead of our trip, and he was happy to tailor the tours to concentrate on the things of most interest to us, He was also willing to adjust the schedule during the course of the day, at our choice, to spend a bit more time here and a bit less there to fit in the things we wanted.

If you want lots of detailed facts and dates then Tod may not be the guide for you. However, if you want a born English speaking guide who will not only take you round the usual sites/sights but from experience can also tell you about what it is like to live in Marrakech and up in the mountains, take you to some of the less travelled parts, and not make detours into lots of shops (unless you ask) then we can wholeheartedly recommend him.

A special mention too for Tod's helpful and knowledgeable colleague and driver Shaboob, who drove us safely along tracks where I would have given up long before!

A few words of advice - if you are going on the High Atlas tour and have any mobility problems do let Tod know as some of the walking was a little strenuous. Also, if you are on a tight schedule again do tell Tod as some of the timings were a little elastic. A final tip - the culinary argan oil at the co-operative where we stopped seemed at the time expensive at 400 dirhams per litre, but is still fhalf the price payable in London
