Riad al Badia is a serene and peaceful haven in a busy, bustling city.
It’s nicely situated at the edge of la Mellah district in the south of the Medina, just two minutes off a main road, Rue Berrima, so convenient for visiting the Jewish quarter, Palais El Badhi, the Kasbah and the Palais de la Bahia. A leisurely 15minutes stroll along the shop lined Rue Riad Zitoun El Kedim via Place Ferbantiers takes you to all the action in the main Djemaa El Fna square.
All of the staff in the Riad are really friendly, kind and very polite. They make you feel very special. During our stay they would always come and greet us personally at breakfast and then enquired about our day when we returned late in the afternoon. It’s a long time since I have been cared for so well. Ahmed and Laurent cheerfully answered our many queries as well as expanding our knowledge of festivals such as Eid al Adha which happened during our stay.
We were warmly welcomed on our arrival with the customary cup of mint tea. An informative orientation tour then followed when Ahmed walked with us to Place Ferbantiers to get our bearings. Although never pushy, the Riad was happy to make suggestions about possible outings and booked restaurants for us and checked on opening times. They also arranged cars to and from the airport and to take us to the Atlas Mountains where we spent a wonderful day.
We had two delicious meals on the terrace, cooked by Samira, and also ate out in Le Tangia, Riad Monsour and Relais de France. Café des Epices in Place Rabba Kedima was also a good spot for a drink and snack whilst watching the world go by.
We stayed in the simply yet very comfortably furnished Amber room, opening onto the roof terrace. Finally, there was the bonus of free WiFi which enabled us to easily keep in touch with home and to sort through the many photos we took during our memorable stay in Marrakech. A great place to stay – thank you.
