“A little haven”
Reviewed 16 September 2011

My two girlfriends and I stayed here for a week at the end of August. It took about 20 hot, sweaty minutes to walk to the main square but although at times this was inconvenient, we felt we got to see the 'real Marrakech' on the walk. Besides, you can always take a taxi.

We had a triple ensuite room which was beautiful and clean with much-needed air con and plenty of hot water. Our beds were made every day and clean towels every other day. The plunge pool was brilliant in the scorching heat.
The owners of the riad were very friendly though we feel we would have struggled a little if I hadn't been able to speak French. However, the lady made sure we had everything we wanted and warned us of the dangers of being 3 young women in this city, as well as giving us a map, directions, and info on places to visit.
Breakfast was adequate- coffee, mint tea or orange juice, and crepes with jam and traditional bread, but we would have liked some fruit too. There was the option to eat in the riad for dinner but we were slightly disappointed so I wouldn't recommend this- you can find much cheaper, tastier food locally or in the square.

All in all, a lovely place to stay, I would thoroughly recommend it, and brilliant value for the price!

We stayed with 3 persons in the top-room. Comfortable and cool with a small terrace. Nice view on the bath. The owner was very friendly and helpfull. The riad is situated in the heart of the north-medina. The rooms are very nice, but don't expect to much of the neighbourhood. This is Marrakesh, not Monaco. Expierence the Morocco way of life in the medina. In august it's hot, don't walk to much if your older. Take the small taxi. There are a lot. Pay 20 dirham to get to the center of the city.

very nice guesthouse. the owner is very friendly and the place is beautiful. we had a double room and stayed there for one week. it was really hot but we had a AC so it was no problem. and we had a little pool in the yard which was very good for cooling off. when we left for the mountains we could leave one of our bags there and when we got back, later than we expected we could stay there one more night without a problem. breakfast could change more though, but that is just a minor thing.

We booked this riad on a recommendation from some friends and stayed there for two nights.

The good:

- Lovely riad, really well done, clean and good facilities, an oasis of calm after navigating the streets of Marrakech.
- The owner is very helpful and charming and speaks a few languages
- There is a plunge pool which was perfect after walking around in the 40+ heat.
- It's slightly out of the main tourist drag - about a 15 min walk - so you get a real feel for life in the less touristy parts of the medina.
- The breakfast is simple but filling.

The bad

- It's very hard to find on your own. We took a couple of buses from the airport to where we thought we had to go and despite our friends' instructions we still got lost. We ended up having to pay a local guy to take us there. A map with some instructions on the website would be a good idea.

- The owner wanted us to pay in advance. Fair enough except that the only method was western union which charges you to send money. A better system of payment is needed. Paypal?

Overall though we enjoyed our stay and would go back again.

This riad has been refurbished very recently, so all rooms are new, clean, very well decorated and have en-suite bathrooms with hot water. Breakfasts are generous and included in the room price. It is situated in a residential but very lively area, great to stand somewhere inconspicuous and watch the real Moroccan life go by. It is 15 minutes walking from Djema El Fnaa, or less than five by bus or taxi.

Souhaila, the manager, was most helpful and accommodating to our needs throughout our stay. As many riads in Morocco is slightly difficult to find if you have never been there, but if you take a taxi to the parking lot in Bab Taghzout and give them a ring from the payphone there they will come and pick you up. It is just a minute away!

On a short trip to Marrakech we stayed 3 nights at Riad La Perle de Marrakech. The Riad exceeded all expectations. The hosts were some the nicest people we have ever met and provided warm and friendly hospitality all throughout the duration of our stay. Small things like fresh linen daily, couch syrup for my croaky girlfriend and mint tea and tasty olives on arrival made our stay for us and when I return to Marrakech I wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Hidden away in a neighbourhood north of the main square this hostel is a gem. Newly refurbished, clean and comfortable. The neighbourhood is full of locals rather than tourists) which was a big bonus in our opinion), yet still only 15 minutes walk or a few minutes taxi/bus ride into the heart of the action. And once you've experienced the craziness of Dja El Fna, you'll be glad to retire to this oasis of tranquility. Our hostess met us from the taxi and welcomed us with olives and Moroccan mint tea - very welcome after a long journey from Fez.

Bring an eye mask if you don't want to wake up with the sun as there was a small window without curtains or shutters in our room - We found this to be the case in most rooms we stayed in throughout our trip though.
