“Lovely Riad close to the Square”
Reviewed 25 April 2017 for a stay in April 2017

As the title says... lovely Riad just 10 minutes from the square, down a lovely street with lots of little places to eat. 3 good bedrooms and the added bonus of a bath tub, which is so hard to find in most riads. Would definitely return with my 2 little ones, excellent value for money.

“Great location”

This is a good place to stay if you want to be in the medina, about 10 minutes walk from Jemaa el Fna, yet in a quiet place - except for the call to prayer! Stuart answered so many of my questions, I think I was a real pest, but he was gracious about it. He arranged for a driver to meet us at the airport which was really helpful. We had asked for dinner the night we arrived and it was delicious. Breakfasts were adequate. My daughter took some little jars of flavored honey to give to people and she gave some to Atiqa and Kadijah who were just delighted with the small offering. (We did tip them, too, but the honey brought them real joy it seemed) I'd love to give this 5 stars for the service, but the paint needs a bit of freshening and really detracts from the otherwise wonderful spot.

Many thanks for the lovely review, I am really pleased you enjoyed your stay and made the most of the fantastic location. Atiqa and Kadijah will be very pleased to receive such glowing reports.
We do have an ongoing maintenance programme and see that the house has it's paintwork refreshed every 18 months or so and it will be done again ready for the Spring. The traditional open courtyard at the centre of the house is a wonderful feature but does mean the walls in this area are exposed to the extremes of the weather but many thanks for the comments which will be addressed.
I very much hope you will return, there will always be a very warm welcome awaiting you, and any future guests, at Dar Soulahfa.

“Beautiful Riad full of character and well furnished”

This Riad did not disappoint - well furnished, plenty of character, lots of space. The plunge pool and the terrace (including your own Berber tent) were a blessed relief from the hot hot sun at this time of the year. Lots of interesting areas to explore. We were spoilt because there were only two of us but we think this could accommodate a family easily. Little touches like a decent Dvd, music and book collection were a pleasant diversion if you pop back from walking around the Medina to the lovely peace and quiet of the Riad. The cook/housekeeper were a joy - very friendly and flexible around any breakfast or dinner requests. The only reason we couldn't give this five stars was the lack of self catering facilities in the kitchen. Not a huge issue as we were a stones throw from the Numerous cafes etc of Marrakech and we had the option of breakfast and dinner being prepared for us. A bonus is the option of a guide/driver for day trips we recommend the Atlas Mountains but personally the coast trip wasn't our cup of tea. Very friendly engaging driver/guide - highly recommended all round - Riad good value for money. Owner provided regular and useful communication from booking right through to departure.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a lovely review, I'm sure it will help future guests when choosing a place to stay in Marrakech.
I am sorry to miss out on a 5 star review, it is true we let the house as catered accommodation, I will look at the wording of our advert to try and make this clearer and apologise if this detracted from the enjoyment of your stay.
As you found, the house is perfectly located to benefit from countless restaurants and cafes just a few minutes walk away and our wonderful cook is happy to prepare any meals guests would like to eat at home. Atiqa produces the most delicious Moroccan dishes and takes care of everything from shopping to washing-up leaving everyone free to make the very most of their time in this wonderful city.
A very warm awaits should you visit again.

Really loved this place. A few streets away from the busy markets / centre of the medina yet the property was so peaceful.

The plunge pool is an excellent way to cool off after a morning on the souks and the terrace is v comfortable. Staff v attentive and helpful but discrete.

Would really recommend it - though tall people watch out for the bathroom door on the ground floor!

“Lovely respite after the bustle of the medina”
Reviewed 23 April 2016 for a stay in April 2016

My family and I stayed for 6 nights at Dar Soulahfa (2 kids, ages 8/11) after touring Morocco for 3 weeks. The dar is lovely and tastefully decorated in traditional Moroccan design. After looking at the photos of the building while it was being reconstructed, I truly appreciate how much effort it took to renovate the structure.
The housekeeper and cook were always warm and welcoming, especially with our kids.
It was always a great pleasure to come home to a quiet retreat after touring the energetic markets. The location is perfect for touring the medina and venturing into the Ville Nouvelle.

The only negative concerns the breakfasts. The ladies, even after requesting, would not come to the house any earlier than 8:30-8:45, with breakfast sometime around 9 AM. Also, the breakfasts were generally very basic compared to the other dars and riads we stayed in throughout our three weeks in Morocco.
We did, however, really enjoy Dar Soulahfa, and would recommend it to others visiting Marrakech.

Hi Lisa
Many thanks for your review, we are really pleased you enjoyed your stay and took full advantage of the fantastic location, I am also pleased to hear that the staff continue to make our guests welcome, the ladies are always a big hit with any children who stay.
Things at Dar Soulahfa are very laid back and relaxed with breakfast usually served around 9 am, for early risers there are a myriad of cafes very nearby and also the opportunity to prepare hot drinks in the kitchen until the ladies arrive to prepare a light breakfast.
We offer an alternative to shared accommodation and do not have 24hr staff or extensive breakfast offerings, however you will receive a wonderfully warm welcome, personal service, and exclusive use of our little holiday riad.
We very much hope you will return to visit us again in the future.

“How to stay in Marrakech properly with children”
Reviewed 21 February 2016 for a stay in February 2016

Why people go to hotels any more is beyond me. Stuart has a splendid Riad, centrally located with good staff and comfortable beds. He responds quickly and appropriately to queries and the Riad is as shown on the website. Atiqa is a good Morrocan cook and if you buy alcohol in the supermarket and eat in at night costs are very reasonable and the experience feels both bespoke and authentic. If you want a private experience in Marrakech, avoiding the global sanitisation of an up market hotel, I would thoroughly recommend Dar Soulahfa.

“Gorgeous Riad!!!”
Reviewed 27 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

An stunning Riad hidden away down a series of alley ways . Incredibly peaceful yet just a ten minute walk from the Djemma El Fna. Loads of space over three levels , a refreshing plunge pool, beautiful furnishings , a roof terrace with tented area and tortoises. Atiqa and Khadia made us some amazing dinners and we had a fantastic breakfast each morning to start the day. Stuart couldn't have been more helpful before hand giving us lots of useful information and being at hand to help plan our various trips. You will not be disappointed if you book this Riad!
