We stayed at Riad Charme D'Orient for 2 nights at the end of March. We chose it based on price, location, and trip advisor reviews. Laurence helped us to coordinate our stay and was very responsive over email. While at the riad, Said was also very helpful and doubled as our waiter at dinner as well as helping us with anything we needed. The riad is located in the medina and very convenient to anywhere you would want to go. We arrived from the airport in the early evening, and ate dinner at the riad the first evening. We had a delicious chicken tajine (despite being the first tajine of our trip, it was probably the best). Just make sure you email them before your arrival if you plan on eating dinner the first night. The Moroccan breakfasts on the roof deck were fantastic.

We stayed in the room “Aya”. It was above the ground floor so a bit quieter, though you can still hear people talking in other rooms and the courtyard (which is standard with almost all riads it seems). The room was very nice and comfortable. The shower pressure was low but manageable.

The following day, they coordinated a local private guide for us to take us through the city for a very reasonable price. I would definitely recommend hiring a guide to take you through the city, especially early in your trip or if you are only there for a short stay (it can be a bit overwhelming/intimidating, and having a local with you protects you from being hassled).

Overall a great stay and highly recommended.

My wife and I stayed at the Charme d'Orient for 4 nights at the end of March as a wedding anniversary break. We arranged through the Riad for a taxi to meet us at the airport and take us directly into town. We would definitely recommend this as it avoids the hassle of trying to negotiate on arrival and guarantees someone who knows exactly where they are going, not always guaranteed in Marrakech! It also means that as the final stages of the journey to the Riad can only be made on foot, someone will come from the Riad to be on hand to meet the taxi and guide you through the alleyways of the Medina.
Once through the front door you are transported to another world. Laurence and Alain have created a fantastic Riad that is spotlessly clean; calmness pervades throughout. The staff are always on hand to help - even providing mint tea without asking! Entertainment is provided by Coco the Parrot, ever eager to join in whatever conversations are taking place. Fortunately he does know how to sleep at night.
There are some really nice touches - rose petals on the bathroom floor, different ways of folding towels every day - that make the service feel very personal. We had an e-mail when we got home, asking about our journey home - not something we have experienced before.
We would highly recommend this Riad - and would definitely consider returning.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Moulay Ahmed room on the first floor. The room has shuttered windows that directly overlook the courtyard. It is at the end of balcony, so it never has anyone walking in front of it and is very private.

From the moment I booked a room at the Riad Charme d'Orient, the personal attention that was received was amazing. I made our reservation through Booking.com and in less than 24 hours, I had a personal email from Laurence thanking me for choosing the Charme d'Orient and asking if there was anything she could do to assist my fiance and I with our travels.

I took the advice of the many who had written previous reviews and arranged a taxi to meet us at the airport and take us to the Riad. It was wonderful to be greeted at the airport by someone who knew exactly where he was going. The Medina of Marrkech is a labyrinth of narrow alleys that one can easily get turned around in if they don't know where they are going. We were taken as close to the Riad as the taxi could go and were warmly greeted there by Said and Laurence who led us to the Riad. There we were greeted by everyone upon entering the Riad. Although Alain doesn't speak much English, just by his actions alone, we knew we were welcome.

I can't say enough about how beautiful the Riad Charme d'Orient is once you have passed through the front door from the alley. Laurence and Alain have lovingly restored the building and turned it into a gorgeous oasis (if you want to see the work that they put into the restoration, check out their Facebook page. They have photographs of some of the work that they have done).

Prior to the day of our arrival we had arranged to have dinner at the Riad. We are still raving about the amazing lemon chicken tagine that we were served. Just be aware of the fact that if you want to have dinner at the Riad, you have to let them know well in advance (we always arranged for dinner the day prior) since they shop daily for fresh ingredients. Breakfast on the rooftop each morning was lovely with a good selection of breads, jams and hot, fresh coffee.

We cannot think of a single thing that we would have changed during our stay. I could keep rambling about the Riad Charme d'Orient, but would only be repeating what previous reviewers have already made clear, you will not be disappointed if you chose to stay here.

Room Tip: We booked the Abdelhadi bedroom and it is a wonderful, quiet room. It's on the first level at the end of the hallway (corner room) so other guests don't pass by your doorway or windows on the way to their room.

My husband and myself stayed here at the end of February. Such a beautiful place to stay, the staff are welcoming and very helpful, it is spotless and we thank the owners for their hospitality and making our trip special

Room Tip: the small room at the top has it's own comfortable seating outside which is lovely for sunbathing or watching the sun go down

One can clearly see a theme developing with people's thoughts on Riad Charme d'Orient. Having spoken to other guests and from reading reviews on several sites it appears that this place is much loved by the people who stay there.

For us it was simply perfect. From the moment we arrived we felt very welcome. We were warmly greeted from the taxi and shown inside. The riad created a very striking first impression particularly as we arrived at night. Coming in off the dark street one enters another world, the courtyard of the riad, which is serene, beautifully lit, spacious and comfortable.

We had taken the room on the top floor which is the smallest of the rooms but perfectly created. For two people who travel light this room was ideal. With a delightful bathroom attached, we were very happy there. Furthermore, our room came with a separate private lounge on the roof terrace which is nice to just sit and slouch in during the evening.

Immediately it was clear how much thought and energy had gone into preparing this place. Everything is hand-crafted. Everything is so beautiful. Every detail is sorted. Not just in the rooms, but everywhere. This place is clearly the product of somebody pouring their heart and sole into it. It really is a pleasure to be in such an environment

Breakfast is served on the sunny roof terrace each morning by bright-smiling girls who are a delight to meet. Sa'id looks after the place day and night and can book you taxis or arrange whatever else you need to do.

Meeting Laurence and Alain, the owners of the riad, was a great pleasure. They made us feel perfectly at home and welcome. They pour there heart and soul into the care of there guests just as they have with the renovation of their riad and made our trip to Marrakech all the more memorable for it.

We will not forget the beauty and atmosphere of this place. I hope that one day we will have the opportunity to stay here again.

For any travelers staying here in the future:
The riad is in a good place and is close to everything you'll want to see but I strongly advise taking the taxi to and from the airport etc unless you already know the city. It saves a lot of hassle. The streets of Marrakech are tricky to navigate at first and the maps aren't always accurate in that they don't show every little alleyway! But after 1 day there it makes sense!
