How wonderful! Even came back, which felt like coming home again. This hostel seems to attract exactly the right people and gives one the chance to socialize with same minded travelers, or to withdraw oneself. Compliments for the staff.

Room Tip: Pay 20 more for the six bedded dorm.

Mama Marrakech has to be one of the best places you can visit in Morocco. I loved it the first time I visited as a solo traveller, so went back again with friends and will certainly be back again and again.

It has something none of the other Riads and hotels can offer, a sense of comfort and total peace. Perfect for groups and solo travellers alike.

The location is perfect, situated in the heart of all the main sites,it is safe and calm. Clean and comfortable no matter what room/ bed you opt for. Wi-Fi access, Mint tea on tap and a constant up beat and friendly smiles from everyone who works here.

The welcome I received from both the owner and the management was great, they are truly wonderful people and will make your stay in Marrakech memorable and one you'll always look back on with a smile.

Thank you Mama for your wonderful hospitality, you will always be my first stop in Marrakech :)

Book at MAMA and enjoy every moment.

Room Tip: All the rooms are super comfortable and wonderfully different: Go for the 4bed (Bob Marley room) Gr...

Mama Marrakech is a simple but wonderful hostel with a great roof terrasse with a lot of sun and a lot of shade, many plants in pots, table, chairs, big (sleeping) sofas, a shower. Just take care, that you don't step on one of the two about 15 centimeters big turtles....

Breakfast is excellent -for a hostel: Pancake with Omelette and maple sirup, two rolls of bread. Coffee, milk and tea as much as one likes. Breakfast times where between 8 and 10 o'clock. The whole day Yunes served me mint tea for free. Yunes was the very goodhumoured and helpful young allrounder. (Except maybe in the morning, after his alarm clock - which is heared in every room- woke him up each day at 6 o ' clock and he got up a little disheveled about an hour later.) Yussef, the owner of the beautiful Riad, is easy going, too, stayed a few times for a few hours in the week, I was there.

The hostel is situated quietly in a small side path of the rue Fatima Zohra, at the left (coming from Koutoubia) angle where Dar el Bacha street starts. The hostel has no indication at all at the main door, so you have to hold yourself to the street number (= 18).

I loved sleeping on the good matresses on the ground (and not in bunk beds) and happily I am not sensible to snoring, talking of other guests, of music from the lounge. The sleeping quality is ok, considering that Mama Marrakech is an inexpensive hostel. At the times when I was there there were no only-women room's available, they were all (about 5 or 6 rooms?) mixed. Guests as also staff were very easygoing, interaction with everybody is a big plus like also that eating Picknick anywhere is ok, there is also a frigde for guests aviable. I wonder, if in winter the hostel will be warm enough for me, for I did not see any heaters - I get cold quickly.
Safety was good, too, for every guest had a compartment with own key in the room. Overthis all the international guests (mostly between 20 and 30 years old) seem to be honest and reliable.

The decoration is cosy and warm, the good fay and house-clean-keeping Hàvida was every time every where in great modesty, always smiling. Too bad, that I don't speak her language.

The situation is excellent, 800 meters between Koutoubia and Bab Doukkala and about 400 meters east of Cyber park. in 100 meters distance one can buy water, bread, snacks, yoghurts etc. The closest warm-food-stall is situated 200 meters from Mama Marrakech.

I liked this hostel.
It was good value, hot showers, cheap beds and free breakfast.
It can be hard to find the first time but the location is actually great. It's walking distance from djemaa el fna and close to many banks, cafes, shops and restaurants.
Great staff, Afrida and Karim are friendly and helpful despite Language barriers.
Most of all I appreciated the terrace as a place to escape the city and chillax.
Worth it.

Impossible to find on your own - we went with someone who had stayed there before which helped. There isn't even a sign on the door with the name, so you have to pay a local to show you to it I guess.
Breakfast was ok - msemen, fried egg and 'coffee'.
We stayed in the 6 bed dorm on the first floor, with the mattresses on the floor, with a sheet and a fleece blanket on top. We were there for 5 nights and DIDN'T SEE THE SHEETS GETTING CHANGED ONCE. The cleaning lady would come and remake the bed after the guest had left, just tucking the sheets in :/ yuk.
Rooftop terrace was ok, questionable erotic paintings on the walls.
With all the awards and great reviews I expected a lot better, but this was a hostel that seemed to have as little effort invested as possible

Finding Mama was just awesome! I needed to take the train to Tangier in less than an hour and just had enough time to get the quick tour through the hostel and leave my backpack there to go to the train station. So I had the chance to enjoy all that is Mama when I came back a couple of days later. Karim is the greatest host ever!

The location of the hostel is also great, you can go to Jamaa El Fna by foot within minutes, and get a taxi to wherever you want to go. There are good places to eat around, and the hostel has a kitchen if you prefer to cook your food. Beds are comfortable and you can have warm/hot showers with abundant water. Moroccan breakfast as soon as you wake up and mint tea all day long!

I enjoyed chatting with other guests from all over the world and the environment of the hostel helps you to do it, starting with the staff which will make sure you feel at home. Im planning on going back to Morocco soon and for sure I will be staying here again.
