Third visit to the Sofitel Lounge and Spa and Ive loved each one. Stayed in a junior suite overlooking the pool. The room was spacious, clean and luxurious. Fantastic pool areas, amazing breakfast and extremely helpful staff. Special mention to Rachida, Abderahim, Fatima,Brahim, Redwan and Chakira.

Already looking forward to ny next visit

We stayed in the sofitel at the end of january and can only say positive things about it. The hotel is beautiful- the outside pool area is stunning and we made great use of the heated outdoor pool. The spa in the hotel is well worth the price- had an amazing massage and you get the use of the spa facilities for the duration of your stay. We really enjoyed the hammam room in the spa which was a lovely escape from some of the bad weather we experienced in January. The room was a good size with very comfortable beds! The location of the hotel is perfect- it is a 10 minute walk from the medina but far away enough so that you can appreciate the relaxing hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff- in particular Fatima, Hicham, Rachida, Abderahim and Kamal who made our mornings at breakfast even more enjoyable. The only downside would be the price of the restaurant in the hotel which we felt was quite expensive compared to other restaurants we ate at in Marrakech. Thank you to the staff for making our stay so lovely.

Room Tip: Room with a pool view

We stayed here for about a week awhile back. Family of 3 (child age 3). Our main purpose was tourism and Marrekesh was about as "exotic" as we wanted go with a 3 year old in tow.

Public areas: All public areas seemed well maintained. Decoration is done quite well. It's a lovely hotel. Spaceous. Plenty of areas to sit and socialize. Outdoor lounge overlooking the 2 pools. The grounds are nicely done and well maintained. A couple of the obligatory "luxury" shops (Louis Vuitton, a wine shop, and a small clothing store?).

Babysitting: We wanted to take a few hours to do a couples spa and were pleasantly surprised to find out that they were willing to provide childcare for our daughter. While babysitting services aren't rare in luxury properties, very few take children younger than 4-5. From the few moments of observation I was able to get, it appeared that my daughter was kept amused and having fun.

Room: It served it's purpose but I found it a bit dissapointing. I think we had just a standard room with a king size bed. While the furnishings were decent, they weren't anything to write home about. The carpet was actually loose and wavy. The heavy glass shower door was off the bottom hinge. The sink plug wouldn't go up. Sofitel is supposed to be Accor at it's best, right?

Spa: The spa is nice. We took a few hours away from the daughter, got a "couples" massage and used the facilities a bit. Better than average for hotel spa but not overly special either it's certainly worth taking a few hours to get away from it all.

Staff:
Concierge was top notch and helped quite a bit with planning (to include a nice day hike out in the Atlas mountains to include driver and guide).

Reception: Professional but not overly friendly. Mostly seemed to be suffering from the old "Stick up the A*s" syndrome.

Housekeeping: I can't complian here. Housekeeping was attentive. We never had to request anything that was overlooked. Turndown service is provided. Rose petal configurations on the bed and in the bathroom were a nice touch.

Tea master: I don't know what title this guy really holds but he was always friendly and willing to enter into a conversation. One of the more memorable people there.

Terrace bar: O.K. amount of seating but can get competitive at busier times. Service was always slow. I usually like to have a quick coffee and cigarette before heading out with the family. As such, I'd leave the room 10 minutes before them (I don't smoke around my children)...Service was so slow that I started planning a half an hour..for a 5 minute coffee and cigarette break.

Breakfast: Good food. Fresh. Nice selection. Made to order area for eggs. Service was fine during slower periods but was a bit lacking during busier times. Option to eat on the patio is nice (should the weather permit of course).

Bar/Lounge: Nice area with a large terrace. Good for an end of the day drink. I think they had live music 2 nights during our stay.

Wonderful hotel, delicious food, very helpful personnel (sometimes too helpful: filling up glasses before you've drunk). Special thanks to Amal for delicious fruit juices, and also to Bourguige, Zanty, Karime, Anas, Afra, Harraaoui, Farah and Rachida!

A good place to stay being near the medina but in a quiet location. Restaurants, facilities and service are what you would expect from a busy chain hotel. They seemed to get very stretched at the weekend when it was fully booked, particularly at breakfast. Room was adequate but noisy due to a Peugeot convention that was going on down the corridor.
Lovely relaxing gardens to sit in, but why do they have the cruel practise off keeping exotic birds in cages dotted around the gardens as ornaments? Particularly heartbreaking were a pair of hawks who were clearly distressed cooped up in a tiny cage.

Room Tip: Ask for non smoking room as this medieval practise allowed everywhere in the hotel.

Lovely hotel probably the best in Marrakech , all staff were very helpful. The location is perfect just a short walk into the medina. The interior decor ,carpets, curtains, chandelier & furniture are superb . Rabi & Awa were very helpful in in the L,Orangerie restaurant . One flaw we found was the accounting system. On check out our account seemed to have unexplained items added to it which took several phone calls to resolve. A mystery .
