We have stayed 5 nights at this hotel.

On arrival ,the first impression was very good, tastefully decorated lobby lounge & initially felt we arrived at decent 5 star hotel.

Regrettably our room allocation was poorly maintained, was given as "City View" when in fact overlooked rear trades /and staff access to Es Saadi Hotel which was noisy both day and night, akin to busy rubbish clearing facility!

The room proportions were adequate with balcony, (unused for reasons above) the wiring to electrical sockets left hanging loose by bedside, room lighting very poor, inoperative ceiling light above wardrobe, shower gets cold/boiling hot suddenly, very loud extractor fan noise above toilet, soiled carpet in some areas and the lists go on ! Although staff were informed of these room faults, nothing was done for the duration of our stay indicating a "couldn't careless" attitude. Thorough room inspection by supervising staff is obviously necessary. That said, the bed was very comfortable.

The front desk staff seemed too engrossed in operating their computers than responding to queries, seldom acknowledged our presence in front of them, seemed totally stressed out ,even an occasional smile would have helped, alas no!

The exterior facilities were the Hotels best assets, lovely pools, comfortable double sun loungers, helpful staff and well managed gardens with abundant birds and residing ginger cat.

The breakfast buffet was superb, faultless in every respect with helpful cheerful staff and chefs, the best meal of the day.

Coffees /drinks /snacks at the terrace (Palais Darkum) was it seemed an inconvenient hassle for most waiting staff there, dour unsmiling faces . An unpleasing environment altogether .

Some building work and room redecorating was being undertaken in some areas but was not overly obtrusive.

The hotel has a 5 star rating, unworthy in our opinion, and would aspire to merit a 3.5 star rating in reality.

Lessons in good manners, cheerfulness, welcoming smiling attitude and guest recognition with efficient service are vital in this business, examples abound in Asia and the Middle East, where 5 star is truly merited. We travel extensively Worldwide and stay mostly in 5 star Hotels and unfortunately Sofitel Marrakech falls below expectations.

,

Room Tip: Currently, breakfast terrace area under construction for the next two months, If you book Pool view, it may be advisable to request away from construction site. It's vast complex, view from the room vary dramatically. We certainly got horrible one!

First visit to Marrakech and we weren't disappointed. Hotel was excellent and made more-so by the friendliness of all the staff. Rooms were very clean and comfortable, room service was prompt with food served hot by Atoul Mohammed who was most efficient. Facilities throughout are excellent. Particular mention should be made of the breakfast, choice was varied and catered for all tastes, staff were happy and attentive which set us up with a positive start to each day. We'd like to thank Fatima, Rachida, Karima, Hosni and Bagdour for all their smiles and good humour. Great ambassadors for the hotel. The Orchard restaurant is a bit expensive compared to similar eating places in town - not the best value. Also wardrobe was small and inadequate.

We were very excited to spend our third Valantine holiday in our favourite place ever ( sofitel Marrakech ) to meet again a lovely people like Farah , Fatma ( amlou lady) , Salah in Lawrance Resturant , and all sweet hearts in the So ( Sophia and others ) . However , we get disappointed with few points , first of all the room service was not as great as our previous experiences last years ( suprizingly , the cleaner was using our person stuffs like perfume or sweets ) . Secondly, we had half board and dinner menu was extremely limited , and even with booking the table we were waiting for 40 min to get a table :(
Well , we were really very disappointed and me and my husband were wondering why the stander is coming down , is it new management ??? Specially in the So , it was totally dead every night and was a great disappointment ....
We still gonna come back to Sofitel to see again all lovely people with a hope of improvement in the stander of a five start hotel in amazing city like Marrakech ......xxxxxx

We stayed in the sofitel at the end of january and can only say positive things about it. The hotel is beautiful- the outside pool area is stunning and we made great use of the heated outdoor pool. The spa in the hotel is well worth the price- had an amazing massage and you get the use of the spa facilities for the duration of your stay. We really enjoyed the hammam room in the spa which was a lovely escape from some of the bad weather we experienced in January. The room was a good size with very comfortable beds! The location of the hotel is perfect- it is a 10 minute walk from the medina but far away enough so that you can appreciate the relaxing hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff- in particular Fatima, Hicham, Rachida, Abderahim and Kamal who made our mornings at breakfast even more enjoyable. The only downside would be the price of the restaurant in the hotel which we felt was quite expensive compared to other restaurants we ate at in Marrakech. Thank you to the staff for making our stay so lovely.

Room Tip: Room with a pool view
