“Relaxing Sojourn”
Reviewed 13 July 2014

This was a last minute All Inclusive 7 day break and we had a pleasurable time.
The hotel was 25 minutes from the airport and during our stay we did not hear or see any other aircraft. The only avian things seen were cranes and stalks and some delightful song birds in the gardens of the hotel.
Accommodation is good with daily cleaning of the rooms and the staff there were always pleased to help with requests, etc and most spoke English or French if you wanted to make yourself understood.
The food at the hotel was good and well presented and there was plenty of choice although some patrons complained about the repetitiveness of the morning selection. I couldn’t see a problem, there was at least 15 different types of breakfast being served, so I believe, it was only lack of imagination that caused these individuals to moan. Staff served the hot drinks for breakfast and serviced your table after each course.
There was provision for you to ask the maître d' if you were vegan to have foods prepared for you and as an omnivore the restaurant was ideal. All meals in the hotel restaurant were buffet style. Staff provided you with the alcoholic beverages during the evening meal, soft drink was a help yourself item.
The hotel as a Moroccan theme restaurant which you have to reserve a table through the maître d' there are two sittings per evening 7pm and 8:30pm and the restaurant serves around 30 people. It is part buffet, with the main Tagine (traditional North African Berber dish) course served by staff. Places are booked and you are provided with a ticket and there is no restriction on the number of times you can attend.
The pool and snack bar serves the holiday makers during the day, however the main restaurant is available too.
There are two main bars in the hotel of an evening, the Zanzibar at reception level and one downstairs where entertainment is put on for those wishing see whatever was showing.
The hotel technically does not organise trips for their guests, these are booked through the reps.
At Hotel reception you can obtain local currency but please be sure to get the counterfoil endorsed with the hotel and guest name to ensure you can exchange it to GBP at the airport without any hassle.
Reception staff are really helpful and the hotel runs a shuttle bus into Marrakech between 9am and 5pm with a fixed put down and pick up point sort of mid way between the Old and New City sections. You also get a supply of 2 litre bottles of fresh water from reception too.
We took the guided tours of the City that were on offer and the guides provided were very good, the day tour was excellent value and gave a good overview of the Old city labyrinth of the souk and the history and the vibrancy of the old city is fascinating. After taking the guided tour we used the hotel shuttle to explore the city ourselves.
Good hotel and gardens an ideal retreat for some rest and relaxation from the world at large.

Room Tip: Hotel rooms were not affected by the pool as the pool area closes a 7pm All buildings have lifts an...

This is my first all inclusive and first trip with Thomson and was very skeptical due to hearing a number of negative reviews about Thomson and their package deals. However I have to say I was fairly surprised.
The hotel itself is really well kept and maintained by the staff. The pool is always clean and the only negative I would say about the pool is that I wished it would open earlier for length swimming etc. the seating around the pool is as stated in other reviews cramped - around the pool itself the sunbeds are very very close to each other and further back from the pool they are still close but a little more spaded out. Shade is hard to find unless you mange to scoop one of e umbrellas early in the morning - I found this a slight issue as it got up to 43 degrees which is extremely hot without any shade!!
I would also agree with other reviews about the food not inspiring or exciting but nothing disgusting/awful either. Plenty of salad and fruit available.
The rooms are clean and a good size and the balconies are a welcome addition. However wifi is a problem they cannot advertise fast speed wifi as the wifi is either nonexistent or extremely extremely slow.
The entertainment team were nice enough - I didn't participate in any of the activities or evening entertainment so I couldn't comment further. However it does get a little tiresome having 2/3 different people wanting to high 5 you throughout the day!
Overall had a lovely and relaxing holiday and would recommend to others as for the price you pay and the service/facilities you receive you couldn't ask for better.

Had a nice quick weeks break at short notice with a bargain at the hotel but as i have been to other riu's previously this may not may good reading but its my opinion.

The airport is a slow process which didnt help as filling in visa's we hadnt been given on the plane, and the guys outside who try and take your luggage expect £5 per case they carry so be aware!

First impresions on arrival from manchester was nice, friendly staff on reception and check n was pretty easy. the buffett had been kept open a bit longerwhich is always a nice gesture but to be honest to was pretty poor but again late at night i cant expect much more.

Quick drink in what looked like a nice little bar and to wait for friends to arrive then off to the room we went.

The room was nice and clean what i would of expected apart from one issue was the seperate toilet! Might seem trivial but if your on the large size to may have to reverse in and still would struggle to close the door for privacy!! The bathroom is ok with a shower over the bath.

First morning it was off to breakfast and far to say a nice selection of food and fruit. The usual you will get in an all inclusive!

Stuggled to get a sunbed and ended up at the very back close to the gym, and a wasps nest and yes they annoyed most people all day. You have to get up early for a sunbed but beware you must sit on it until 8.01 then you can move knowing the pool guy wont remove your towels! Annoying having to get up early to say the least! Pool area is clean and snack bar close, pool is nice and refrshing!

Lunch soon came and only the pool snack bar open with a varied selection of food which i found poor and bland and no allergy adivce so be careful if gluten free or in fact any allergy!
The animation team were friendly around the pool but the pool really isnt big enough for water voley ball every day, one lady goy whacked in the face and you get soaked on your sunbed, didnt bother me too much as i jolined in, but other people found it annoying and i could see their point!
Water aerobics everday and other stuff you find in other resorts all pretty much similar.

The evening came and went pretty quick ,looking for something to eat was a problem as it really wasnt up to standards, grilled fish most nights, pizza, chips seemed to be the in thing and recycled salad bar from lunch time, but on two nights their was a good selection so dont be put off this is only my take on things and like i said i may of been spoilt in other riu's.

The drinks on offer depending on which bar you went to were average, better outside in the snack bar then in the other two but at night you have nothing but those to choose from, soft drinks always flat and cocktails were disgusting(Outside very nice) The beer was nice though throughout the resort so i opted for that when others failed :)

The night time entertainment was very poor, the animation tream tried but not very good! We thought we may be saved by the singer who shows up but my god i think i cat being murdered would be better, he was absolute crap.
Then at 12 they rush you out the bar but you can take your drinks into the lobby but then the manager tried sending us to bed, unreal sent to bed at 37 yrs of age for having a chat with friends, the security guards also came and tried but left when seen they we about three foot to small to bully us (lol) In fairness we were not making a noise simply chating so a bit over the top manager who was a real miserable sod!

We ventured into town but if you say no the men and women who try selling you stuff are ok and left us alone but the mcdonalds was well worth the effort, nice food and milkshake! Free shuttle bus from the hotel is good!

Overall the people i met here and the friends already here made the holiday a good one, the hotel really needs a kick up the backside, it needs another pool to say the least, as no beach its so crowded around there. The food is average and needs looking at as do the drinks.

Thomson rep? Where were you? i had a better chat and information with the one travelling back to work who sat next to us on the plance!! Pretty useless Mr.Rep(Didnt get his name)

On departure they took us too early to the airport which is boring a not much to dom but the
processing was quicker than arrival(Guess wanted us gone lol)
They charge you to keep room on, one guy and his mrs werent impressed with this so ignored the check out and had luggage taken until bill was paid, imagine a little man stomping around which did amuse everyone and he made himself look a right plonker, saying that the tattoo of the tear by his eye did that too and the rows he had with mrs plonker in the bar!

Enjoy a bargain priced hotel as i would go again if £271 for a week but i would never pay over £300 for this hotel.

Just back from 10 nights booked through Thompson. As per most of the reviews, food was good, hotel clean, waiters etc very friendly.

The wifi was fairly useless, sitting in reception seemed to give the best. Alcohol measures very small, and only small cups for soft drinks. A couple had taken their own plastic cups for soft drinks in the day, not a bad idea if your luggage allows!!

Sunbeds, I can't add much to the other reviews, although I refused to get up early and put my towel out, but had breakfast and wandered out 10:30 ish and always got a bed, just not by the pool, more in front of the gym, and the beds left were never the comfy ones!

Moroccan restaurant ok and worth a visit, only went once. Food choice in the buffet was varied but by day 10 a bit repetitive!

Used the shuttle bus to town a few times. Only a 10 min walk to the old town and square when it drops you off. Also the drop off is right by the sky bar with great views of the town, although this is only open at night.

Trips booked through the rep were good. Pricier than using local I'm sure, but we did the day trip to marakesh and definitely worthwhile

Entertainment was ok. Singer in the main bar every evening has to be heard to be believed!!!

Would go back, might be tempted to go to the riu couples hotel nearer the centre instead as a bit closer to the action. Just personal choice and I can't fault this hotel.

Pool very cool but needed during 40 degrees temps. Entertainment is very poor during evenings with nothing for children. No lucky, lucky men or hassles around the pool. Daytime entertainments ranging from table tennis to aqua aerobics, boules and cooking lessons. All the staff were very friendly, very quick service on bars but measures of spirits smaller than the UK. A double or large measure is purely ignored. Lots of sunbeds around the pool but are all taken by 8:30 am. Further into the gardens you can "usually" get one but the garden size for the hotel is too small.
Food is buffet style and offers a very good choice for young and old alike, hot tasty food albeit lacking in seasoning but salt and pepper is readily available on tables. The house wine during dinner is very poor.
Crown tends to be 85% British with a few French holidaying.
Rooms are very clean, maid service 5/6 days a week, all with balconies and the ones facing away from the pool tend to have wifi available although this is very poor and the signal fluctuates much, although there is no charge for this...maybe a chargeable good system would benefit all guests.
There is a free shuttle bus to the souks but this stops around 16:30 it tends to be too hot to go before that time.
On the whole this is a great hotel, very clean, very few bougs and good service. Definitely will rebook.

Had a great few days at this hotel; the gardens, settings and rooms are lovely. We were welcomed with a cocktail and some food on arrival and given a ground floor room with a veranda. The beds are very comfortable! The food is lovely and the Moroccan restaurant is a must for its traditional setting and delicious food (also very friendly and attentive waiters, who made our night). The food in the buffet restaurant is also very nice indeed. The bar staff were also very friendly although the reception staff it has to said were not always as friendly; sometimes they seemed quite grumpy. We did have a small issue with a cleaner removing all our towels an hour before we had to leave to catch our flight.. We had to go to reception to get more and we did not get an apology. The main issue however is that you have to get up at 7.45 to reserve a sunbed, which I have never done before but its either that or you do not get one at all. We only did this when we were staying at the hotel, so returned after breakfast to our sunbeds for the day, but others do leave their towels out and disappear for hours.. We saw people looking for somewhere to lie during the day, in vain. The hotel either needs to get more beds (although I appreciate there's not much room left in the pool area), or maybe have staff checking and removing towels for people who leave the pool area to go offsite. All in all though, a nice hotel with a luxurious feel.

Room Tip: We really liked the ground floor ones, you may get a view of the lovely gardens.
