This is in the new section of the city. The outside is attractive as is the entrance. We went with two other couples and each room had to be changed for various reasons (unmade beds, water on floor, etc.). The hotel was quite full on the day we were there and it took some time to get new rooms. Even after the switch, one of the new rooms had a defect in the heating system, which required that we leave the door to the balcony open to cool the room. The beds wer low to the ground and not comfortable. The staff was friendly, but harried and disorganized. The room decor was nice, but in need of some repairs. We had dinner there (OK) as well as breakfast (much better). There are better hotel options in Marrakesh.

Room Tip: Check out the room before doing anything else in case you need to switch rooms.

More of a 3 star hotel

We visited for 7 nights towards the end of December 2013 - beginning Jan 2014.

The hotel was booked through expedia in September 2013 and upon arrival to check-in it was apparent that the reception staff did not have any knowledge of our booking. Fortunately my husband had the email of the booking confirmation and this was swiftly resolved but it was quite funny when the reception bloke said that we were lucky they found a room for us!

Good points:

1. The room was cleaned nicely every day

2. The grounds are really pretty

3. The reception area is nice with a nice bloke serving mint tea

4. The restaurant staff were very pleasant and helpful despite the fact me and my husband do not speak French or Arabic. To their credit they tried their best to speak English which was appreciated.

5. The staff at the lobby bar were friendly and pleasant

6. The staff at the entrance were welcoming and friendly

7. A lot of the staff had relatively good English and credit to them for making the effort

8. The crepe lady who makes these in front of the guests for breakfast was awesome

Bad points:

1. You are expected to pay for a card to use the safe which is a complete joke! I have never been to a hotel where you have to pay to use the safe. This is a complete rip-off and we took our chances carrying our passports and tablets on our person then pay for a basic service

2. The reception staff let this place down big time, they need to learn the meaning of 'hospitality'. I don't expect to have my butt kissed by the staff but I do not appreciate being ignored when trying to get attention of the staff who seemed to go out of their way to not acknowledge you. The other hotel staff were lovely, the reception guys need training

3. Very noisy hotel, we could hear so much noise and conversations word by word. I don't expect dead silence because that's unrealistic but it was super noisy!

4. There was a complete lack of information around the reception area as to information regarding local attractions / things to do. We were only presented with a book of day excursions when my husband managed to speak to one of the ladies on reception who had a book of excursions tucked away behind the desk. Note to hotel - this information should be more accessible to the guests.

5. No bath robes provided and no ironing board / iron provided in the room

6. No complimentary coffee / tea with kettle in the room. You can get this at a bog standard travel lodge but not at a 5 star hotel?

7. Table cloths in the restaurant look like they could do with a good wash, they looked so grubby

8. We had a massage at the spa which was great. The French manicure Polish was shoddy from a supposed trained beautician who swiftly kicked me out of the room after she finished (most beauticians leave you to wait for sufficient polish drying time). I would not recommend having your nails done at the spa but the massage was good.

Having read some of the bad reviews it seems that the hotel has made some improvements but certainly not 5 stars, Kenzie Farah needs to splash more cash to bring it up to standards.

Room Tip: Try and book a room away from the reception area where we were closely located because it's noisy

Staff is not friendly and helpful. Be tenacious!!! One had to pay for gym access... ridiculous!
Ask for a room toward the inner yard (otherwise it is kinda loud)

BUT:

Rooms were good and clean! Location quite central: around 15-20 min footwalk to "Jamaa el Fna" or taxi (we paid 30 MAD). Breakfast was good!

Room Tip: room toward the inner yard

The reception staff were very unhelpful and unfriendly. None of them spoke English, only French or Arabic and they were very rude and ignorant. Room was ok although it could do with a lick of paint but was comfortable enough. Room was cleaned every day and the cleaner was really nice and friendly - the only one in the hotel. Indoor pool was nice but once again could do with a lick of paint. Food very below par. The best thing about this was coming back to the UK.

This hotel was brilliant all round. The hotel is located 15 minutes walk away from the main square and medina. The hotel indoor pool was lovely and warm and great to use. I recommend if you stay friday to try the moroccan night in the hotel orangerie restaurant on ground floor food superb. Buffet breakfast excllent too. I used room service twice in my stay and the food was perfect. ONly down fall is the poor wi fi service but apart from that everything was great. Staff was very helpful and service was great at reception. The hotel was clean and our room was comfortable and large sized. we had a great view of the gardens. This hotel has a huge garden attached which is great to walk around. We stayed christmas eve and christmas day and they made a real effort for christmas even serving turkey on christmas eve dinner in orangerie restaurant. I would stay again in this hotel.

Room Tip: Third floor rooms are comfy and spacious with good views
