“Hotel review”
Reviewed 4 March 2014

We stayed a week at the hotel, Feb 2014, initial impression, hotel smacked of tired faded splendour.! Rooms, were clean, large, airy, but needed a makeover, Bathroom, lots of hot water, good shower, towels , grey and worn out, need to replace these. We have a super view of a fab pool and gardens, exterior pool area was lovely, swam in the pool, cold but wonderfully refreshing. Pool snack bar not open in Feb while we were there. We did enjoy our stay, happy with our choice ,calm oasis after the frenetic pace of the Old City.

Maybe we had built up our expectations too much, but we arrived early evening down a badly pot holed back street. We walked into a very dark lobby and my welcome at the reception desk was What?? That was all she said, super welcome. Check in complete, we were escorted to our room (203 possibly 204) by the doorman, who showed us into a very tired room with a badly cracked ceiling, stained carpets a bed with a massive dip in the middle. It amused us that the doorman pointed at the fridge and stated there is your mini bar. Once he left we opened the mini bar, it was an empty filthy fridge. I immediately went down to reception and asked for another room, as that one didn't look like the picture on their website, to which she replied with a perfectly straight face that is the exact same room. I asked if I could upgrade to a suite, first answer No, we don't have any free, second answer, we have one you can have for an extra £65 a night, third answer, ok we can do it for £50 a night, fourth answer £35 a night. I asked to see the suite (211) and it was ok and so accepted the extra charge of £35 a night. The suite had the same mini bar, just as empty and just as dirty. The decor, bedding, pillows and towels were all very tired and in need of either refreshing or replacement. Although the pillow cases were clean the actual pillows were yellow with age and other peoples saliva stains. Not nice. Plug sockets were hanging off walls, a danger if children were in the room. All the pipe work in the bathroom was on show for all the world to see and there was a big burn in the carpet the exact shape of an iron. We had been on the go quite a long time and decided to go for dinner, as we were very hungry, this would be about 9pm with dinner not finishing until 10.30pm there was dry bread and some salad, and that was it. I stood at the pasta station waiting for a chef to appear for 10 minutes before realizing it wasn't going to happen, so we went in the a la carte restaurant next door and had a very average pizza, which of course we had to pay for. Then the big shocker, we went into the bar and ordered a gin and tonic and a coke zero £8, couldn't believe it and in all honesty it wasn't a generous amount of gin. Back upto the suite, good film channel on the TV and quite a comfy sofa. Then to bed, if you like a firm mattress as in breeze block firm then this is the bed for you, we didn't sleep much but both woke with bad backs. Day two our first full day ... breakfast, nice orange juice and coffee, but the only edible thing to eat was a two egg omelette made to order. I want to know who eats lettuce tomatoes and olives for breakfast. Tried to make toast but after ten minutes was still waiting for it to brown off under the totally useless outdated one electric bar grill. we spent most of the day around the pool which was beautiful and very quiet and the grounds were very pleasant. We were on a half board basis and so we thought lets buy lunch. We had a bbq selection of beef and chicken skewers a small beer each and a half litre of white wine....just under £40. The cheap holiday was turning expensive, thank goodness we were only there 3 days. The hotel seems to have an abundance of staff, a lot of who just stand about doing nothing but whatever you ask for is passed from pillar to post and you might get it in 15 minutes as an average wait. The hotel needs a visit from the Hotel Inspector to show them how guests should be treated. Our advice find another hotel, and really check out the reviews in depth. We spoke to others who had a much more pleasant experience staying elsewhere.

Stayed on Dec 2013, this Hotel is 30 mns drive from the Airport, very accessible by bus 4 Dirham or taxi ( cheap 50 Dirham) to the famous Jam El Fna square. We stayed , half board 2 adults n kids for 9 days @ around 600 £. Swimming pool very lovely and exotic, our room just facing the pool, Staffs are very accomodating as well as the managers. Food are buffet a volonte , , Menus are changing every night , from classic Morrocans couscous, tagine, to Italians, campagnarde etc etc, they are having special event every friday night. They also have karaoke bar but only one singer can sing which is a little too boring for me as I frequent lovely pubs n karaoke spots in the world...The decoration is very Casablanca, we liked it , very nice old doors and lamps and jars and stairs everywhere, though lights a bit dim , maybe to add romance or saved electricity. I love the exotic Plants inside the hotel, for our kids they have a billiard and we enjoyed the Table tennis match. Just beware of the taxis waiting in front of the hotel some will screw you , will offer to go here n there and you will end up visiting unexpected shops where they get commissions. Better bargain or haggle , they love them the Marrakesh people. A camel ride in the Ourika valley is better than in the city.....or you can go further in the Essaouira to sea the Fishermen , birds and the Sea, ...or spent an arabian nights in the dessert. A taxi driver will bring you there for less than a hundred pounds for the whole day ! Marrakesh is beautiful and it is an exciting, exotic, surprising journey- it is fun, crazy, surprising, exotic trip never to miss in your lifetime,

Room Tip: better ask for a room near the swimming pool or far from the karaoke bar , avoid front rooms, Rooms...

We were over 400 English teachers at our annual conference at the Semiramis. The hotel staff was amazing. They were very helpful and very attentive. The hotel itself has everything you could ask for - even if you are staying for tourism and not for business. Rooms are large and airy and comfortable. The gardens are beautiful and include a pool, tennis courts, football field (half-size), and two outside bars. The hotel is also within short walking distance of many restaurants and cafes, and a bus ride away from the historic center of Marrakech.
One warning: do be careful with the Marrakech taxi drivers. Unlike drivers in other Moroccan cities, the Marrakech drivers do not use the taxi meter and tend to charge outrageous prices.

Room Tip: I've never seen a bad room!

We were 8 people including children and teenagers, we had a lovely and very enjoyable stay at the hotel. There were language barriers but the staff was extra helpful.
Food was very good , every night we had different menu. Breakfast was good, serving waitresses were brilliant. The lady who makes traditional flat bread in butter was excellent.
There was something for everyone in the group .

We stayed 3 nts half board. We found bedmattress was good (firm enough), clean bedding and spacious room. Great power shower and nice balconies, some overlooking the gorgeous gardens. I found our room noisy on the first night due to the extractor fan / vent being near the room so asked to be moved to a quieter room - I had put a request for quiet room which was overlooked by reception staff - it was not straight forward to move room despite staying off peak season but got there in the end.
Restaurant is basic and nothing amazing. The food is not being topped up so when its gone its gone! We booked half board and had to ensure we had our meals at the beginning of the service to have more choice. We missed out until we got more organised to come early. I wish we'd only booked B&B.
The staff around the hotel varies. Some are helpful, some will try if you ask (once or twice!), some are useless. In my opinion, other than the gardens – only area to benefits from being mature! - & pool which is extremely pleasant – the hotel itself is all a bit dated – Good enough for a tight budget though!
I would agree with a previous comment 'Don't have too much of an expectation, enjoy the cheap prices and don't eat in the hotel and you will have an enjoyable trip'.
The location is in the new town a bit away from everything it seems. The road to access hotel had building work when we went so not very pretty to approach on foot - we had to take a (cheap) taxi everywhere. But that's also because we did not spend too long at this hotel and did not have time to work out how to walk to places from there.
