We didn't stay here but had booked by phone and email hamman+massage treatments and dinner. I had printed confirmations and names of everyone i'd corresponded with. When we got to the spa reception, they couldn't seem to find our bookings but said they could squeeze us in at a later timeslot. What they failed to mention at that point or over email/phone was that the massage would be carried out by a man. We only found out when we went to look at the hamman. We found it highly unusual that a man would be giving a hamman massage to 2 ladies in a muslim country and curious that we were never advised of this fact nor told to bring anything to cover up. When we got back to the reception, they changed tack and said they couldn't fit us in for any treatments after all but we could stay there and wait till our dinner appointment (3hours away!). They never apologised nor offered any alternative. There were about 6 staff at the reception who just chatted amongst themselves while giving us condescending looks. We were disgusted at their behaviour and told them to get us a taxi back into town but had to wait for an hour! Imagine us sitting at the reception fuming for an hour and not a single explanation nor conciliatory cup of tea/water was offered. And this is a hotel that has a few private shuttle vans/cars at its disposal. The least they could do would be to offer us a ride back to town after all the inconvenience they'd cost us. Each time we asked where the taxi was, they kept saying it was coming. Eventually this taxi cost us 10€, five times more than what we'd paid to get there. No one walked us to the door, they just said the taxi was waiting for us outside.

This is a very expensive hotel and the Prada-decked guests we saw there would probably never read travel sites like this nor have any problems with the fawning hotel staff obsequiously tending to their every whim. Basic manners and common decency is obviously not on the staff's training program. Unless you have wads of cash to wave around, you'll probably be treated like a 2nd-class citizen.

The hamman treatments and dinner were supposed to be a treat to ourselves and we were more than willing to splurge to be pampered and fed. Instead, we left insulted and infuriated.

Doubtlessly the WORST experience we'd in Morocco and in any hotel in the world. You couldn't pay me to go back there.

Where to start?
Despite the generosity of our host on the last day 12 iPods, 7 phones, 6 cameras, valuable watches, jackets and money were stolen, often while the guests were still sleeping. We found that the hotel staff didn't care at all and did nothing to help whatsoever. The police also offered little help. We found some stolen goodies hidden on a roof and they said we must have put them there.

Don't go to Palais Rhoul! You will be robbed.
Random expenses were added to room bills, inculding €250 worth of missing towels.

Avoid Palais Rhoul.

Please.

My boyfriend and I and another couple decided to go to Palais Rhoul in Marrakech which has been recommended to us by friends. This place is truly heaven !!
The hotel is an ancient Roman Palace that has been completely refurbished and decorated to the most amazing taste.
The bedrooms are beautifull but the "must" is to stay in one of the luxurious "tente / suite" in the garden.
The hotel offers also high quality spa services.
The service was excellent, the staff very welcoming and friendly and the food gave us the best flavour of the moroccan traditional dishes.
It is definitely a place I would recommend for a quiet romantic week end or holiday.
The facilities can also be used for private parties or weddings.

wonderful stay, Great place and fantastic decoration !

The palais rhoul and spa is a beautiful boutique hotel and its decor and ambience are truly 7 star !

The decoration of the tent (la tente du Maitre) we booked was stunning, very big and spacious, king size bed, spacious bathroom, fire place, falt tv with a large choice of films, swimming pool inside the lounge ! and a great outside seating area facing the atlas montain. Even the room facing the garden, (we where with a couple of friend) was great, we loved it.

Quality is the key feature of this hotel; From the moment we arrived at the hotel we were impressed;

Outstanding wonderful service; the staff were all extremely polite, very personal and willing to help, nothing was too difficult special thanks to Adil.

The food in both restaurants was exellent, some of the best we have ever eaten. A perfect delicious breakfast where there was a huge morrocon choice. (includ in the price of the room).

We saw other riad in the old town but to us this was the best by far !

Overall it was everything we expecte, we really did not want to leave at the end of our stay...

We were very excited to spend a relaxing weekend in this highly recommended luxury riad in Marrakech. Unfortunately, we were let down. The venue was absolutely stunning from the rooms, to the pools to the property itself. The service and the management help with our daily excursions was mediocre. But, the absolute worst part of our stay was having to wakeup in the morning and discover we were sharing our lodging quarters with cockroaches. We had to dodge cockroaches first thing in the morning because they were running all over our room the instant I got out of bed!!! The first morning we woke up to a dead roach in our bathroom (I handled this one) but the following morning....we had a colony of roaches coming out from everywhere! We were surrounded! The door, the windows, behind the bed! the closet! I was shaking....I don't think anyone (even if roaches do not bother you) could have handled this situation. The manager was very apologetic and came up with the following excuses:
1. this is Africa
2. we spend over 5,000 euros a month on pest control
3. took 100 euros off our ridiculously itemized bill (could not understand the bill because there were no dates, no times, no signatures...no actual receipts for what we consumed during our stay...just a piece of paper with certain items that we were supposed to remember and of course pay...)

For the money one pays (we paid) to stay there, a family of roaches should not be living in the rooms and the service should be impeccable. I would not recommended this extremely over-priced (for the value it delivers) hotel to anyone.
