Like review above, we had a Hamman and lunch. Staff could not be more rude. On time for our appointment, we had to wait without any courtesy. Like previous reviewer we were surprised to have a male attendent for my wife and I. His main comment was to "ask for a big tip". The food was overpriced and mediocre. The desk wouldn't give me change for 100MAD as "they don't have any 'small bills". Our driver had to wait outside the gait without anyone telling us he was there. Awful in everyway.

When we first arrived in Morocco we were told that we could expect to be very well treated and to have no problems at all during the course of our visit as tourists were supposed to be treated as if they were "guests of the King". That expression turned out to be a very good description of how we felt while staying at Palais Rhoul. We thank Hicham, Noura, Pierre and all the staff of Palais Rhoul for making our stay so enjoyable and are looking forward to staying at Palais Rhoul again in our next trip to Marrakech.

We discovered this hotel by serendipity on the internet, and loved their website so much, that we decided to go. The hotel not only met our very high expectations, it exceeded them. The location is outside of Marrakesh and is thus very peaceful and quiet - a true oasis. We stayed in one of the tents, which was an incredibly luxurious experience, with beautiful furniture, rugs and the most amazing linens. It stayed the perfect temperature even in the heat of August. Our tent faced onto a lovely pool with a pavilion where we ate lunch every day, served by a very kind and gentle waiter - at a moment's notice he would bring us the best pommes frites ever!. The director, Pierre, was so nice and hospitable. He arranged our meals every day, as well as a lovely guided tour to Yves St. Laurent's gardens and the medina to go shopping. All in all it was the best experience we've ever had at any hotel - the location and the service were impeccable, and we will definitely return when we need more TLC. Don't miss the treatment by the Hammam - mind-boggling!

We didn't stay here but had booked by phone and email hamman+massage treatments and dinner. I had printed confirmations and names of everyone i'd corresponded with. When we got to the spa reception, they couldn't seem to find our bookings but said they could squeeze us in at a later timeslot. What they failed to mention at that point or over email/phone was that the massage would be carried out by a man. We only found out when we went to look at the hamman. We found it highly unusual that a man would be giving a hamman massage to 2 ladies in a muslim country and curious that we were never advised of this fact nor told to bring anything to cover up. When we got back to the reception, they changed tack and said they couldn't fit us in for any treatments after all but we could stay there and wait till our dinner appointment (3hours away!). They never apologised nor offered any alternative. There were about 6 staff at the reception who just chatted amongst themselves while giving us condescending looks. We were disgusted at their behaviour and told them to get us a taxi back into town but had to wait for an hour! Imagine us sitting at the reception fuming for an hour and not a single explanation nor conciliatory cup of tea/water was offered. And this is a hotel that has a few private shuttle vans/cars at its disposal. The least they could do would be to offer us a ride back to town after all the inconvenience they'd cost us. Each time we asked where the taxi was, they kept saying it was coming. Eventually this taxi cost us 10€, five times more than what we'd paid to get there. No one walked us to the door, they just said the taxi was waiting for us outside.

This is a very expensive hotel and the Prada-decked guests we saw there would probably never read travel sites like this nor have any problems with the fawning hotel staff obsequiously tending to their every whim. Basic manners and common decency is obviously not on the staff's training program. Unless you have wads of cash to wave around, you'll probably be treated like a 2nd-class citizen.

The hamman treatments and dinner were supposed to be a treat to ourselves and we were more than willing to splurge to be pampered and fed. Instead, we left insulted and infuriated.

Doubtlessly the WORST experience we'd in Morocco and in any hotel in the world. You couldn't pay me to go back there.

Where to start?
Despite the generosity of our host on the last day 12 iPods, 7 phones, 6 cameras, valuable watches, jackets and money were stolen, often while the guests were still sleeping. We found that the hotel staff didn't care at all and did nothing to help whatsoever. The police also offered little help. We found some stolen goodies hidden on a roof and they said we must have put them there.

Don't go to Palais Rhoul! You will be robbed.
Random expenses were added to room bills, inculding €250 worth of missing towels.

Avoid Palais Rhoul.

Please.
