“Great Locatio, Lovely Hotel But......”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 February 2008

This is a lovely hotel in a great location. Just a few minues from the main square and an oasis of calm.

The main rooms are very nice. Service is sometimes a bit slow and haphazard (it can take several requests to get a full place laid forbreakfast) but always friendly and polite.

The only complaint from us was the bedroom. We had a standard room which was dark and cramped and we never got the air con to work properly. Even though we were there in January the room was constantly too hot. However the rooms were always absolutely clean.

Use this hotel but pay extra and get a better room

We booked this hotel because of the location as recommended here, but we were slightly apprehensive due to some of the negative reviews. Our experience was excellent. From the moment we arrived every member of staff was warm and helpful, from the guy that cleans the pool to the receptionists. Our room was spotless with rose petals arranged in the bathroom and the bedroom on arrival. We ate in three of the hotel restaurants all of which were great and the piano bar is terrific. There is a central swimming pool surrounded by a courtyard off of which are some 'random' soft furnished rooms where it's possible to escape with a book if you want to. At one end of the courtyard is an open area where you can sit and in the evenings this had a roaring log fire - the most romantic of settings. The location as mentioned before is perfect. Turn left and in two minutes you are at the Jeema square or turn right and in one minute you are on avenue Mohammed V. Yet despite this when you come back to the hotel you are into an oasis of calm. The spa area is first class with a large pool and many treatment rooms if you are into that. The hotel definitely has a Moroccan feel to it and I would certainly stay here again.

what a setting- after a busy day in the souks or sightseeing you walk through the doors of the hotel and enter another place! the hotel was really clean the staff were helpful and the room was airy and spacious. The breakfast were good with plenty to choose from and eat. We also ate in the hotel restaraunts which were equally as good.A lovely way to see Marrakech experience the local life and then end the day with a swim and a relax definately go again and would recommend to anyone.

We spent 2 nights here after a week's 4x4 safari and it was a real treat, didn't seem to be many people staying when we were there. Our room was the most basic one so it was small but beautifully furnished. From a design perspective, this hotel is beautiful and furnished well, it looks wonderful at night. We found the staff helpful, and the food was very nice, especially the Indian restaurant. It wasn't as expensive as we thought it would be. The spa is gorgeous, especially the pool and the treatments are all Clarins. They are having some work done to extend it at the moment. As other reviews mention you really can't knock the location (but be prepared for the early wake up calls from the mosque - no need for an alarm!) All in all a lovely place to explore Marrakech from.

This is a little peace of tranquil paradise in the midst of chaotic Marrakech - beautiful leafy landscaping frames the pool and the rooms are spacious, beautiful and opulent.

Check out the spa too - fabulous internal pool and great spa menu.

Have just returned from a 4 night stay at this hotel and have very mixed feelings about the place.

We had a mini suite (room 170) and it was lovely, having a seperate sitting room and further seating area on a balcony which overlooked a small pool ( didnt go in it as it was so dirty) a bathroom so big that you could have a party in it, 2 40inch flat screen tvs, complimentary fruit basket, water and toiletries

The down side is the sheer lack of service, we had to wait upon arrival almost 3 hours because our room hadnt been serviced, the breakfast lacks variety, bread always stale, coffee always cold.

Although the hotel has 4 restaurants their menus are bland, the staff on the reception area are constantly overcharging, we were overcharged on 2 occasions for room service and bar bills and on departure having settled our final bill the previous day they tried to charge us again and became very rude and intimidating with no offer of an apology

Although the hotel is a delight to look at especially at night when it turns into a fairy tale setting with all the lanterns it lacks atmosphere being very morose and sombre.

I certainly will not be returning to Marrakech (hated it) but if you put this hotel in another city not sure if I would book again

Just returned on Saturday from Marrakech after a really relaxing 5 night break at Le Jardins de La Koutoubia. The location cannot be faulted, just yards away from the square and everything that goes with it !! Our mini suite - room number 50 - was superb. This was on the ground floor and tucked away into a corner looking out on to a small patio area and only steps away from the exclusive pool for that area. The main pool is lovely, but we preferred the quiet of the pool beside the room, infact we were usually the only people in it. The terrace for the room was a welcome retreat from the hustle and bustle of the square and furnished with a group of comfy chairs looking on to the Koutoubia minaret....no need to set your alarm for an early wake up call !!! We enjoyed the food and ate in each restaraunt - the indian on the roof terrace was excellent as was the morrocan, french and the international which we ate in twice. We also had the Hamman which was good, the spa is undergoing some work at the present which will extend it quite a bit. the pool in the spa is stunning and very relaxing. I also had a massage which again was excellent. We have now been to Marrakech twice and cannot wait to go back. All in all an excellent time was had.
