This hotel has a great location very close to the main square. The style of the hotel is a change from the large chain hotels and does feel tas if they have tried to have a Morrocan influence.

We had a junior suit which was spacious and kept clean. Think more high class rustic charm rather than perfect finish and the rooms should meet your expectations.

The staff where pleasant and helpful. There are plenty of nooks and cranies to hide away around the pool. And there are some good views from the roof top pool which is nicely heated.

One issue that should be pointed out is the hawkers outside the hotel who will tell you they have just finished their shift (they saw you earlier remember!). They will offer to take you to a little known exhibition (a carpet shop). They are very good at this scam so beware!

The four restaurants were excellent with varied choice of menus - remember to make a reservation particularly for the Moroccan and Indian restaurants. The central courtyard is beautiful with fig and orange trees as well as many rooms to sit in for reading, playing board games and cards etc. One room has a fire which is lit every evening - perfect for the time of year.
We were fortunate to have above average temperatures for our stay, however we were unfortunate to have a 'Medina' room overlooking the street as it was stifling and too noisy to open a window. After two requests to have our air conditioning looked at we discovered the heating is on at this time of year (February) in the hotel. So be aware that you are not booking an air/con room at this time of year!
Excursions are available from the reception - but lack any kind of information regarding itinerary or overall cost. Our four hour 'City Tour' turned into a one hour trip to a carpet shop - accompanied by Ali Babar! If heading to the Atlas Mountains wear good walking boots and warm clothes as you will be faced with a treacherous climb to a disappointing cascade of water! The price of the guide is additional and should be negotiated before setting off.
The peaceful haven in this bustling city is the El Badi Palace - well worth a visit.

Finding a central hotel with good facilities in Marrakech with consistently good reviews on Trip Advisor wasn't easy, so when we arrived at Les Jardins de La Koutoubia we were absolutely delighted and relieved that our homework had paid off.

The hotel is a wonderful oasis of calm, ideally situated just a couple of minutes stroll around the corner from the commotion and chaos of Place Jemaa el Fna and the souks. I would not like to stay further away from the square - especially when it's hotter in the summer - as it's quite a walk to the square from some of the hotels we saw in the new town, and getting taxis can be such a chore.

We found all the staff extremely friendly and helpful, although we wish we'd brushed up on our French to make life easier throughout our visit to Marrakech. The hotel facilities were good, although I would have preferred the pools to have been heated. There was free internet access in the basement and a shop off the reception selling souveniers, postcards (plus stamps) and international newspapers, plus an ATM cash machine. Next time this shop will definitely be my first stop on arrival in the hotel, in order to buy something before heading out into the city, just to get some small change which is extremely useful but can be difficult to come by.

It was fantastic having the Piano Bar to relax in before and after dinner (nice touch to give complementary nuts and olives, and the Koutoubia Cocktail was scrummy!), and all the food we had in the hotel's restaurants was delicious. We dined in all of them except Le Relais De Paris, which looks wonderful from the roof of the hotel looking down into the restaurant garden with the pool and huge mirror, but it's just around the corner in an alley which put us off a bit - to be fair, the alley is fully lit and has security guards on duty, we just ran out of time to go there.

The Les Jardins de La Koutoubia hotel is very photogenic and restful - lighting is everything - there is even plenty of seating indoors if it's too hot or raining. Check out the Moroccan chap in the blue outfit who sits by the fireplace in the evening rotating his fez to make that wierd noise whilst playing the guitar. The vases of roses and displays of rose petals (including on the sinks in the washrooms) add to the magic.

For me, the highlight of our stay in the hotel was having a his and hers hammam in the spa, followed by his and hers Moroccan Massage - absolutely the best massage I've ever had - an experience I shall never forget, in a hotel I will remember with great affection.

A lovely hotel admist the madness of old Marrakech and one which provides an oasis after the hustle and bustle of the city. With a variety of resturants and it's excellent spa, visitors can indulge themselves in the chaos of the souks/medina as much/little as they wish, knowing that there is the "safety net" of this retreat never too far away.
If one really must stay in the old part of the city, I would whole-heartedly recommend this hotel.

The hotel was 5/5 for location, 30 second walk from Jemma El F'na Square, and once in the hotel its peaceful and calm. We went out of season so the hotel lacked atmosphere due to it being so quiet. The staff had very poor English so we struggled with the little French we knew, thats not really a critisism just advise. The breakfast was awful, the one dodgy toaster didnt brown the bread and the Q for eggs was so long it wasnt worth the wait. The rooms got cleaned about 4pm daily which was always the time we were in there. The Clarins spa was nice and peaceful but again even though the surroundings were plush the hotel lacked atmosphere - it was deadly quiet and staff behaved like robots. We didnt feel like we'd had a 5 star stay and would advise going to a hotel in Hivernage for 5 Star luxury.

This is a lovely hotel in a great location. Just a few minues from the main square and an oasis of calm.

The main rooms are very nice. Service is sometimes a bit slow and haphazard (it can take several requests to get a full place laid forbreakfast) but always friendly and polite.

The only complaint from us was the bedroom. We had a standard room which was dark and cramped and we never got the air con to work properly. Even though we were there in January the room was constantly too hot. However the rooms were always absolutely clean.

Use this hotel but pay extra and get a better room

We booked this hotel because of the location as recommended here, but we were slightly apprehensive due to some of the negative reviews. Our experience was excellent. From the moment we arrived every member of staff was warm and helpful, from the guy that cleans the pool to the receptionists. Our room was spotless with rose petals arranged in the bathroom and the bedroom on arrival. We ate in three of the hotel restaurants all of which were great and the piano bar is terrific. There is a central swimming pool surrounded by a courtyard off of which are some 'random' soft furnished rooms where it's possible to escape with a book if you want to. At one end of the courtyard is an open area where you can sit and in the evenings this had a roaring log fire - the most romantic of settings. The location as mentioned before is perfect. Turn left and in two minutes you are at the Jeema square or turn right and in one minute you are on avenue Mohammed V. Yet despite this when you come back to the hotel you are into an oasis of calm. The spa area is first class with a large pool and many treatment rooms if you are into that. The hotel definitely has a Moroccan feel to it and I would certainly stay here again.
