“AMAZING FIND!”
Reviewed 5 October 2009

Just returned from the most relaxing 5 days at Jardins de la Medina.

It was such a hidden gem amongst the madness of Marrakech.

The service was very good on the whole however the language barrier was sometimes an issue - they mostly only understand French. So they said NO to some of our requests when they were possible. Occassionally forgot about our drinks order at the pool but we didn't mind as everything else was so perfect.

The only thing I would point out is the breakfast is not as good as it could be. They do offer eggs (found out from room service menu) however none of the staff seemed to be aware of this. We got them in the end!!

Lunch was fab.

If you're a sun lover, ask for a room with private roof terrace as pool area gets shaded by palms late afternoon.

Such charm and calming energies - and amazing pool area and gardens.

My wife and I spent four days at the 'Jardins de la Medina' in Marrakech, Morocco, and found the entire experience to be among the best we have ever had, if not the best, in regard to a hotel stay. This is to include the grounds, the hotel rooms, the service, the spa and hammam services, the treatment of guests, the food, the beverages, the pool, the help on any and all of our many many questions to the front desk, help with local restaurant recommendations, taxi services, et cetera. It is incredible to say, but there was never a moment at the hotel when we did not feel entirely cared for by a supremely attentive and thoughtful staff.

Though the grounds are a 10-15 minute walk to the medina-proper, it provides not only some time to gather your thoughts before you enter the insanity of the Jemaa El-Fnaa and the souks, but it also provides a most welcome retreat and respite from the craziness and overwhelming experience of the public squares. It is an entirely different world at the hotel, almost as if you have traveled to the middle of nowhere, and yet you are only steps from the markets and public squares.

Overall, we would recommend this hotel to any couple wishing to stay a few days in Marrakech and experience both the peace and tranquility that comes along with a perfect stay in a hotel, but also the feeling of being just proximate to the one of the most amazing cities in all of Morocco and indeed, North Africa.

I spent 3 nights in this hotel with a friend. It is a hidden paradise in the middle of the Medina. It is walking distance from the Djeema-Fnaa area. It was Ramadan when we visited the city but everybody was very kind and helpful in the hotel. The swimming pool y magnific and the food (served at the pool during the day) is delicious and not that expensive. Great experience

We had a great stay at Jardins de la Medina. The staff were all extremely friendly, courteous and helpful. Stepping through the door off the street is like stepping into another world - calm, cool, green, elegant. My daughters and I enjoyed the hammam experience and very relaxing massages! The food was excellent, the rooms comfortable, and the pool inviting! The location is great for sightseeing - the Saadian tombs and the Fnaa el Jamaa square are only a short walk away.

We arrived late in the evening from the hustle and bustle of the street to this oasis of calm. The gardens are beautiful, the restaurant was excellent and the staff were very helpful and friendly. BUT 2 days before the end of our week there a skirt was stolen from the wardrobe in our room. When this was reported the staff did not take any action. This really spoiled our holiday

We were in Marrakech for a 3 day break with our two 11 year olds.

The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, with good English. The quality of everything was very good. The wow factor was the gardens, which really are like they show on their web-site, complete with bird song. I'd certainly visit here again.

The hotel offers an option where you can get picked up from the airport in a horse and cart. This worked really well and the kids loved it.

A couple of things to think about. I got money out of the cash point at the airport, which worked fine expept that it all comes out in large demomination notes. What I saved on transaction fees I lost in giving the most generous sized tips in Marrakech.

We re-employed the excellent horse and cart driver for the afternoon, and he dropped us off at a carpet shop where we "lost" an hour and ended up buying a carpet. It was entertaining but I'm sure we paid well over the top, despite the haggle (a common feeling in Marrakech - they are expert negotiatorss, we just amatueurs). My advice is to make it clear at the start that you want sightseeing, not shopping.

Finally, there are no fastfood outlets or supermarkets, and none of the restaurants seem to have childrens' (plain food) options - so if you have a fussy eater with you (as we did) then you might want to take out a few snacks with you.

We re-booked the driver for a trip around the

We spent 3 nights here just after New Year & loved it. Would definitely recommend it as the place is beautifully decorated & the rooms are located around a mature garden & tempting swimming pool. The rooms are well equipped, elegant & functional - though our standard room did have a bit of generator noise at night, but then we didn't notice a call to prayer!).

Medina is well located in a residential area & handy for the Saadian tombs & walking distance to the Palaces (both recommended). If you've done the souq & Jem area this is an interesting alternative part of the city to base yourself in. Plus the restaurant serves up some delicious food, but be warned its not cheap.
