“Amazing place for imagination to blossom”
Reviewed 19 August 2014 via mobile

We arrived at the souk around 4pm. The weather was beautiful. You could hear all the calling from each shop, stall and people selling on the floor. The first thing you notice is the beautiful array of colours every where your eyes touch. The aromas of different things people are selling from oranges of the juice kiosk to the leather of the bag shop. The souk is a wonderful maze of culture, food and exploration. Very child friendly and we had two prams. Good place to get fast food for kids of they don't like the morrocon cuisine.
A wonderful place for all.

Would of been ok if its was just adults but the kids were not all that impressed as it was way to intimidating for them.

“A great experience, very friendly”
Reviewed 17 August 2014 via mobile

We had to walk through the souks daily from our Riad as we visited various attractions around the medina. We did some shopping there, but not a lot, though we loved the feel of these places. Felt totally safe in there even at night, and the workers were friendly and always helpful. Wasn't as pushy as I remember Tunisian souks from years ago. It is very easy to get lost in the labyrinth of alley ways. We always headed back to the main alleyway and retraced our steps to leave, having got totally lost day one. Bought some great spices for my son who is a chef in the spices square.

“Constant harassment and no respect for tourists”
Reviewed 17 August 2014

You really need to have your wits about you in the market. My strong advice is never make eye contact with the locals as everyone is trying to extract money from you.
I lasted about 2 hours when there with wife and we were chased by snake charmers and people purporting to be guides.
Ended up getting shouted at by a guide telling us to "Fxxx off" when we told him we were not interested. Realised then that you just can't make any eye contact if possible.
The stalls just sell junk at overpriced markups and will always try and take you for a fool if you are from Europe. Also they get aggressive in bartering.
I haven't mentioned the smell or animal cruelty I witnessed either.
Suffice to say we never went back to the markets after this one visit.

“Heaven of souvenirs, tapestries, jewellery, artworks and household items.”

Prices are offered very high. Shop owners mostly are very aggressive and persistent but they do not get mad when we negotiated drastically like you often find in other countries.
