The hotel is rated 5* but it is more like 3*. That said it was clean, beds were comfortable, I enjoyed the food and the service and friendliness of the staff was first class. Considering the cost of the holiday I reckon it was very good value for money. Don't expect to get 5* for 3* prices. I'll go back - total relaxation!

Had stayed here last year and yet again was impressed with what we actually got for our money. The food is reasonable--- better than a lot of restaurants, the beer was good though the spirits were cheap local stuff and the wine was drinkable. The rooms were very clean and pleasant. The shuttle bus was on time and first run is 7.30 am and last back was 11pm. The grounds are very well looked after though the outside of the building is showing wear and tear. All in all, not bad for £60 all inclusive for 2 of us.

We returned from this hotel yesterday. We originally booked for 4 nights but owing to Ryanair cancelling 450 flights on Saturday 4th December we had no option but to find accommodation until Tuesday at our own expense, so we returned to the Kenzi Oasis. The hotel is set in lovely, set in well kept grounds. For the initial part of our stay we were in a ground floor room which had no balcony or patio and was quite dark, but as we should have been there for only 4 nights thought it not worth complaining. When we returned for our enforced extra 3 nights (for which we had to foot the bill) we were allocated a room on the first level which was light and furnished much better than the original and it had a balcony. The hotel is very traditional in design, spacious and quite beautiful but is in need of a little TLC. We arrived at night in heavy rain and the hotel is poorly lit. Once we found our way around it didn't seem so bad but on first arriving the lack of light was daunting.
We can not fault the staff at this hotel, they really do all they can to make your stay a pleasant one and the animation team are one of the best I have come across. They are very hardworking, talented and friendly. My only criticism is that they do not translate enough into English, but when I pointed this out they did their best to oblige. Most of the guests were French but they were so friendly language was not a barrier and the staff in my opinion do not differentiate between nationalities.
There was always something that suited us at mealtimes and plenty of it. The bread is to die for! Dinner was a different theme each night .
I had a hammam (possibly the equivalent of a Turkish Bath) during our stay, it cost about £26 and was worth every penny. The treatment would cost far more in UK.
The Hotel runs a much needed shuttle bus every day into the centre of Marrakesh as it is 12km away, so the hotel is rather remote. No bars or shops nearby so "Oasis" is quite apt.
I think 4 nights is enough to spend at this location as there are limited things to do and see. Nice experience and winter break, escaped a lot of the snow here!!!!!

all the reviews for this hotel are so conflicting.. one extreme to the other. i cannot understand to begin with how anyone can fault the food here, it was excellent. my friend is a chef and very , very critical about food, she really enjoyed the meals, lots of variety, and even asked the chef for the names of spices he used as the morrocan dishes were totally delicious. we ate well at every meal, usually having thirds.. and didnt get unwell. the wine was basic but drinkable.
on arrival we were greeted by friendly, polite staff, who were polite during our entire stay and very helpful. i speak basic french, which of course did help, however my friend spoke none and was treated exactly the same as me, with politeness and kindness.
the gardens were lovely and well kept, yes, it was bit dark in places at night but we managed. this is north africa! they have problems with electrics.. its normal. we live in spain and its exactly the same... its not the uk, things are diferent and you just get on with it. our rooms were large and very clean. bizarrley we were told that there was a 'problem ' with our room and they would like to move us to another.. there was nothing wrong with our room at all, we were very happy with it, however the hotel staff insisted moving us to a beautiful suite, which was absolutley huge with two lovely balocnies and lovely (dim)! lights and rugs.
most of the guests were french, and we made an effort to mix with them and met lots of people, had fun, and just got on with it. we even sang along to french songs.. we had no idea what we were singing, and danced every night to very bizarre music.. often in french, and learnt new dances.. and made fools of ourselves who cares! it was fun.
the entertainment staff were great, and did lots of diferent activites all day, and worked very hard. they were funny and polite and made such an effort to get EVERYONE involved, young, old, english and french alike. the theatre produtions are quite strange (very actually.. i wont ever forget them for all the wrong reasons.. )! ... i warn you now, but have a couple of glasses of wine before you go in and you will be laughing in bewilderment. they are all mimed so everyone understands. you will need an hour to recover and wonder if they really did do that stuff??!!
the shuttle bus was on time and safe. we didnt get any hassle from anyone at all. we were polite and firm when approached and made an effort to not be rude to anyone, and in return no one was rude to us. we heard stories from other travellers which made us shake our heads in disbelief. i think at times the fault lies with the tourist, not the locals. we even wandered out of the souks into the slum areas to see the leather tanning area, where everyone was still polite, and no one bothered us or asked for money. yes, we were led into some shops but we chatted with the owners and enjoyed their time and company and were not hassled in any way to buy. we covered ourselves up (we are two middle aged white women) we didnt take inappropiate photos and we were not disrespectful. we got totally lost and a small child led us out of the slums, he didnt ask for anything, and was delighted when we gave him about 2 euros.... it was nothing to us, and he was delighted. some of these people have nothing, but they have their pride. we are in their country and should respect their ways. an example... dont' eat bars of choclate infront of small children in rags and expect them not to ask for some!
we met other british tourists at the hotel too, some were having an amazing time, others were findning fault. we all had the same holiday.. its what you make it. we had a great time. oh,, it rained nearly everyday too,,was very cold, and we were trapped there 3 days more due to the air strikes with no return flights for weeks to alicante where we live, and we winged our way home via a mad route with planes, trains and automobiles...and we still had a wonderful time. we will return.

My wife and I arrived on 30th November for a 4 night break. Arriving at the hotel at 2 a.m, it was in complete darkness with a perilous trip (almost literally!) to the room following a guy who didn't seem to know where he was going! The room was shabby with poor lighting and everything was really in need of an overhall - this was not what we would regard as 4 star standard rooms - perhaps 2. Breakfast in the morning was very limited with rolls, croissants, cereal and a small selection of fruit. Only hot food was eggs although these were cooked to order. The grounds were nicely kept it has to be said.

The shuttle bus into town was an absolute necessity although at the time we visited, we didn't feel the service was frequent enough with a 9.30 a.m. bus and not another until 2 p.m. As previous reviewers have commented, beware the "guides" as you get off the bus. They are there to take you to the shops owned by their friends in the souks as they then receive commission on any sales made. We did get caught with this on the first day and the "guide" was very agressive when we refused to go into the shop he took us to. Not a pleasant experience. On return to the hotel at around 8 p.m., it was so dark and the hotel had insufficient lighting which made it dangerous especially around the many steps. My wife actually fell twice and was lucky not to have seriously injured herself. Lots of other guests also commented on this aspect. The staff in the hotel were not unpleasant but I agree that it helps to try and speak some of their language - not too much to ask.

All in all, you do get what you pay for however, we won't be returning.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 days to celebrate my birthday. My only advice to any English travellers is not to stay here under any circumstances.

Firstly, it is NOT a 4 star hotel. The grounds on arrival are very pretty and the pool looks reasonably clean and well kept. Any further than that, dont look. For a start it is quite far away from the centre of Marrakesh. The taxi from the airport was 250DS £25 (after haggling). There is absolutely nothing around the hotel. Its barren wasteland so you have to either fork out on cabs to and from the hotel or wait for a "very hold" shuttle bus which only runs about 3 or 4 times a day.

The hotel staff have absolutely no interest in the English at all. We found the staff in the restaurant exceptionally rude. At one point they even came up to us asking us if we had had lunch (we were half board). They then told us (mid meal) that we were not entitled to lunch out loud and in front of all the other diners. - At this point we left our meals, walked away from the table and never returned. My husband complained to the front desk but nothing was done.

As for the rooms they are old and falling apart. Our lighting didnt work very well. The ceilings were cracked and the plaster falling off. We did have clean towells and the soap/toilet roll replaced but the floors were dirty and the ash tray still full of ash on arrival.

I could go on but someone else has probably pointed it out and its all true what they say.

Basically - if you are English - DONT GO !
