A lovely Riad run by a very friendly and helpful couple Gilles and Dominique. It is in the Medina and very close to the souks but also within walking distance of the bus station (we caught a bus there to Essaouira). The Riad is beautifully decorated and the room was large, clean and comfortable. The calm and peaceful atmosphere was lovely. Thought it was excellent value for money considering the location and comfort.

As soon as the door closes behind you, all of the hustle and bustle of the busy streets of Marrakesh disappear! This Riad is a beautiful oasis of calm, just 5 minutes walk from the souks. The hosts, Gilles and Dominique are so friendly and welcoming, nothing is too much trouble. Our room was massive and well air conditioned, with a large en-suite bathroom complete with lovely authentic moroccan toiletries. The breakfast was perfect, and the three-course Moroccan meal was the best we tasted during our whole trip! The roof terrace was absolutely lovely, we only wished we could have had a few more days to fully enjoy it. Couldn't recommend this Riad more highly, you will not be disappointed!

Room Tip: Our room, suite Fez, was great! Didn't really see the other rooms.

I would definitely recommend this riad. It had friendly and helpful owners, a lovely roof terrace with loungers and shady areas and great breakfasts served by the host Gilles. The bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms were very spoacious and clean. All in all a lovely riad located a 10 minute walk away from the souks and the main square. Definitely recommend.

The saying : it is people that make the business is particularily true with this very unique Riad / Hotel in Marrakech. Gilles and Dominique - the French owners - give their guests the feeling that all their needs will be taken care of. And actually they do it too.
Starting from the precise reservation ,the offer for help in transport to even waiting for us at the entry to the Medina at arrival on a holiday, good dinner recomendation to actually a really fine dinner experience at their Riad itself. All with a smile, casual and still stylish.
Gilles helped us even with online checkin on his laptop... Our room ,a suite was spacious with all amenities nd lots of room in the lounges . A lovely sun terrace with jacuzzi rounds it all off. another pleasant surprise is the VERY affordable cost of the stay. A tip : Try it -- you´ll like it !

Room Tip: suite on 1st floor

Friendly owners, nice location, beautiful riad! This is about all you can ask for in Marrakech. It is a beautiful riad, close to everything but just far enough out of the hustle and bustle. 5 minutes to the souks and 15 minutes to the square.

Rooms are large with HUGE bathrooms. Breakfast was great and a very nice touch to have purified water dispensers available to refill water bottles with COLD water.

Rates are inexpensive and you get great value. The ownes do a great job at making you feel at home and are extremely nice and helpful. I can't recommend it more highly.

We loved Riad Albaca Badra and it was perfect for our first visit to Marrakech. The hospitality is exceptional. Gilles and Dominique are really friendly and the perfect hosts.

Our room was beautiful and furnished in typical Moroccan fashion. It was very comfortable and the roof terrace is a lovely place to get away from the hustle and bustle and relax with a book.

The Riad itself is in an excellent location - very close to the souks and Jemaa el Fnaa. Gilles will arrange a transfer from the airport for you and I would definitely recommend this because it is not expensive and the Riad will be hard to find on your first visit.

We had a fabulous stay and will definitely be back!

Giving the Riad Abaca Badra highly deserved full marks in this review worries me. Why? Because next time we, or the family and friends to whom we will certainly recommend it, try to make a reservation they will surely be fully booked.

There are not sufficient superlatives to describe the friendly, kind, willing and attentive treatment we received from Gilles and Dominique during the five days we stayed at their Riad.
From the warm reception upon arrival to the affectionate farewells, we felt we were staying with friends. The Riad itself is centrally but quietly located near many of the sights of Marrakech. It is stylish, comfortable and extremely clean a quiet haven in the bustling city. Everything worked well; powerful warm showers, excellent air-conditioning, a welcome jacuzzi on the sun trap roof-terrace.

Gilles arranged our pick up at the airport and from that moment our stay was perfect, thanks mainly to him and Dominique. Even when we became hopelessly lost on our first morning there, we rang them, in desperation, and Dominique was there, ten minutes later, to pick us up and guide us “home”.
Every time we returned, tired and thirsty, from our sightseeing, Gilles and Dominique were there with a cold drink and a friendly smile. We ate twice at the Riad; the food was very good value and delicious.
The warmth and willingness with which Gilles and Dominque treated us made us feel more like houseguests than paying customers. They honestly could not do enough for us and it would be safe to say that, without them, and the home from home they provided, our stay in Marrakech would not have been nearly as enjoyable.

I really don’t know how they manage to make all of their guests feel as special but they certainly do, as evidenced by the guest book which was filled with glowing praise and thanks. It must be so tiring explaining, guiding, making small talk with new faces over and over again but we never felt that it was difficult for them. They and their Riad are absolutely charming and I do not hesitate to give them the highest recommendation.

Sometimes when I read such effusive reviews I am worried that the hotel will not live up to my expectations. But if you receive the same service we did you will not be disappointed!

When we return to Marrakech it will definitely be to the Abaca Badra – if they’re not booked up years in advance!

Room Tip: We were in the rooms on the first floor with the little atrium lounge between us, which, as two coup...
