“The best possible choice in Marrakech”
Reviewed 1 July 2014

We stayed in this riad for 4 days in May 2014. The service and the attention given was outstanding. We really felt as if we were at home. The decoration, the breakfast, the terrace were beautifully set. If we decide to return to Marrakech again we will surely stay there.

Riad Al Bushra is in the perfect position for exploring the best bits of Marrakech. In a quiet but well policed section of the historic Medina, near a Royal Palace, it is easy to find from a south western gate (and so is easy to get back to by taxi) but is also right by the Souks and the famous Djeema El Fna. Thanks to the help and encouragement of Gary (the friendly owner) we had a lovely walk to the Majorelle Gardens ; that we otherwise may have taken a taxi to and missed out on some sights of "real Morocco" in the markets.
Gary made us so welcome and couldn't do enough for us, and the enormous breakfast spread Fatima presented us with each morning on the terrace really set us up for the day!

Room Tip: We had a "smaller" room and it was roomy, sumptuous and very well appointed. I would love...

This place is fantastic. We stayed 3 nights in May, during our holidays in Morocco. In one sentence: here you get experience like in 6star hotel! There are couple of things to mentioned what makes our staying in Riad wonderful:
1. Host Gary - so nice and helpful host, we enjoyed talking with him and he made our Morocco experience special! Not to mentioned the organization of transfers, suggestions about restaurants and shopping....Thank you so much Gary, so nice meeting you!!!!
2. Location - so peaceful, but in the center of Medina, so everything is reachable by foot
3. Amayzing decor - the whole house is just perfect (great rooms, peacful and enjoyable place for talking and meeting other guests), every single detail is well planed and just perfect!
4. Perfect breakfast prepared by Fatih (sorry for misspelling) - breakfast and cleanness just like 6star hotel!!!!!
This was our best staying ever (and we travel a lot) - thanks again Gary! We will definitely return in your perfect Riad!
Couple from Slovenia

Room Tip: All rooms are just great, to have more privacy choose a room in the upper floor.

Your review is amazing. Thank you.

We are delighted that you had such a good stay. It is always difficult knowing what to recommend to guests. One of the pleasures is that we try all of our recommendations for ourselves first and we also have a policy of not taking any commission; we want our recommendations to be fair and based on experience. We are delighted that they worked for you.

You say many great things in your review. Thank you it is really appreciated.

Hopefully you will return to marrakech and it would be a pleasure to host you again. See you soon.

We stayed here for a weekend and with the charming hosts this beautifully decorated Riad is ideally located for the medina. Understated luxury in each room, carved plaster and vibrant colours make this an oasis from the bustle in the medina.

Writing this review in June, but still talking about our amazing weekend in March 2014 at Riad Al Bushra. We were a group of 5 on a girlie birthday weekend and Riad Al Bushra was the perfect place for this special trip.

The riad is literally a few minutes walk from the souks and historical sites, but it’s all calm and peaceful once you step through the door. Everything’s been beautifully restored - hand painted doors, beautiful lamps and mirrors, intricate hand-carved plasterwork, etc. Breakfast is fantastic and as it was warm and sunny in March, we had this on the rooftop terrace, with views of the city’s rooftops and we could even see the Atlas Mountains!

We stayed in the rooms on the first floor. Comfortable beds, ensuite shower rooms with Moroccan toiletries – the white, towelling bathrobes and slippers were a lovely touch. Slight issue with water temperature and water slow to drain in the shower, but this is be expected in an old building, and it certainly didn’t detract from our fantastic time there.

The owners, Gary and Steve, are wonderful hosts. They manage to provide a very personal, but not intrusive service. Gave us lots of advice, including key Arabic phrases – very useful! – recommended places to eat, nearby hammams/spas and a very good place for curtain tassels! (Can’t thank you enough for that, Gary & Steve!). Can’t wait to return!

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. It is most appreciated. We are delighted that you had a good stay and that you liked the tassels from Hassan.

You mentioned the slow drainage in one of the showers. This has been a difficult thing to sort out as the drain is not blocked. Nevertheless, as we are closed for Ramadan we have decided to excavate the floor to access the pipe and see if we can improve this further.

Thank you for the personal compliments we are delighted that you found our recommendations useful.

Hopefully we will see you again at Riad Al-Bushra.

AMAZING - Gary the owner could not have done any more to make our stay so memorable.
The peace and tranquility of the Riad was top notch and the breakfast in the morning on the roof terrace with fresh croisants was delightful. We stayed in 2 different rooms which were furnished in a bespoke Moroccan style with such great attention to detail. I would only recommend one place to stay in Marrakesh and this is IT!

Room Tip: The Blue room - just the best!

We chose this Riad for a short break (3 nights) in Marrakech as the descriptions we had read promised good quality accommodation in a great location. This Riad undersells itself and is a worthy competitor of many five star accommodations. The building has been restored with no expense spared. Our room, the Jawzi Suite, had top quality furnishings and bed linens, luxuriously thick towels, lovely bathroom toiletries - shower gel, shampoo and body lotion - all changed and topped up daily. Our bed was deliciously comfortable and we slept soundly. Guests are supplied with slippers, bathrobes, a good hairdryer and even sunhats and a shopping basket for trips to the very nearby souks. A sumptuous breakfast is served each morning in a shaded área of the tranquil roof terrace and consists of huge quantities of fresh fruit salad, fresh Orange juice, a selection of yoghurts, breads, croissants and irresistable fresh pastries, tea, coffee and pancakes and omelettes and scrambled eggs are also offered although we never had the stamina to go that far. The host, Gary, was a wealth of information and was always available and happy to supply mint tea, coffee, anything required throughout the day. It is not possible to find any fault with this Riad and difficult to do it justice in a review. The location is just perfect in the Medina, quite literally a couple of minutes walk from the souks and a few more minutes to the Square. Could not be better. This is a very peaceful and tranquil setting and we found the ambiance very restful, as there are only five rooms, whilst being able to enjoy the personal experience in terms of interaction with Gary and other guests who happen to be staying at the same time. We will return!
