“Friendly, cosy, relaxed....highly recommend staying here”
Reviewed 19 December 2013 via mobile

I came to Morrocco in November for my boyfriend's birthday. We decided to book to go to marrakech after finding a cheap flight with Easyjet from Manchester. What a holiday!!! With 26 degree weather at that time of year, who could complain?

Nari could not have been more welcoming and helpful. He advised us brilliantly on everything. He helped us organise a day trip before we arrived to the Ouzoud waterfalls where we jumped off the edge of a waterfall and fed wild monkeys :-) If we saw something at the souks which we were keen to buy but were not sure on how much to bargain for, all we had to do was take a photo, go back to the Riad and Nari would tell us how much it was worth maximum. He also walked us to an amazing restaurant that served fantastic food and organised for us to have a hammam followed by a full body massage (highly recommend to do this with your partner, as it was the most relaxing and romantic experience you could wish for!).

We were so sad to say goodbye but plan on going back to Riad Chez Lea in the future. I just wish we had chance to stay longer. Thank you Nari for helping make our trip easy and enjoyable.

Marrakech is a MUST go to place!! Full of friendly people. If you wish to ask someone on the street for directions, they are more than happy to give you a tour....just make sure you have some change to give to them as a tip afterwards as they are clued up on how to make money from tourists! Also, in the main square, if you are approached by Henna women, make sure you don't allow them to draw ANYTHING on your hand or they WILL demand money. Same applies to the snake charmers and men with monkeys.....once they place the animal on you, they will encourage you to take a photo for 'holiday memories' and then ask you for a ridiculous amount of money. Hope this review helps :-)

We booked this Riad through the internet and it was our first place in Morocco and it was a very good choice. Our emails prior to arrival were all answered quickly. We organised a transfer from the airport for 150dhs which is more than a taxi but someone is waiting for you and there is no hassle in negotiating and trying to explain where in the medina you are staying.
We were dropped at the nearest parking station and met by one of the staff members who helped with our bags.
Check-in was quick and easy with mint tea and snacks provided. The manager gave us a run down on Marrakesh and a map. They were relaxed about us paying later and didn't mind if we payed in Dirham or Euro.
Our room was charming and a decent size. It had an ensuite (no door just a sheet). We had a few initial problems with the shower not working and the lights. The manager quickly fixed them whenever we asked but it was slightly annoying that the light broke every day - I guess some problems like this are to be expected in such an historical area.
Breakfast was included - pastries and breads - very plentiful.
The common areas were very nice with a rooftop terrace and a ground floor lounge.
Wi-fi worked well.
The riad can organise trips, hammams, spa's and help with shopping.
Only the manager spoke English but the rest of the staff were still lovely and very helpful.
Location was good being about a 10min walk to the main square but very close to the palaces in the south of the medina.
Only slight negatives were that although the manager spoke great English and always fixed any issues we had we just felt he was a little short at times and wasn't great at giving advice on other travel arrangements. We overcame this though when we realised that the Riad was part of a group of hostel/riads and visited the main one (marrakesh rouge) where the staff gave us great advice and help and even told us about another one - riad layla where we went and had free tea on their terrace overlooking the medina and mosque at sunset - the manager here was lovely and so helpful.
We also had some confusion over our room and price when we extended - when we booked on their website our nightly rate was different for each night but it doesn't show that is because you are getting different rooms so we didn't understand that we were supposed to move rooms, so in hindsight we realised they let us stay in a "better" room for our stay but when we extended they initially wanted the higher rate again but it was settled calmly. Not a big deal just a little confusing.
Would definitely recommend this as a good option for budget travelers looking for a quiet location with a good "Morocco" feel.

Room Tip: some were definitely better than others but difficult to explain which ones, i think avoid groundflo...

We spent 3 nights in a standard double room and were really happy with our selection. We had great communication with the owners from the booking stage and they were happy to help us arrange an airport transfer with a driver for our arrival at midnight. The owner met us at the medina gate and helped carry our luggage to the Riad at 1am!! We didn't have any cash on arrival and it was no dramas to pay later. The staff were really friendly and spoke perfect english, which made conversation very easy.
They must own other Riads so are very experienced with tourists and had a well set up travel agency where you could book ongoing trips or just ask for advice. They would even help you with bartering if you took a photo of what you wanted and bring it back they would tell you how much it is worth. Very helpful.
The breakfast was typical moroccon, pastries, breads and tea, so filling enough and a good way to start the day.
The rooms were great, being a long size meant there was enough room to place your luggage, they were very clean and well decorated. HUGE bath towels was a bonus and great air conditioning The only negative was that they didn't leave you with the air conditioner control?!.
The location is perfect in a quiet street in the Medina but only one street away from the main street heading into the square. So close to the action but peaceful and safe.

Room Tip: All the rooms are fine and located around the central opening
