Last week my 2 daughters and I visited Marrakesh. Since its a close distance from the Atlas mountains we thought we would get off our sunloungers and do something active. I looked at Tripadvisor for ideas and found Atlas and Sahara tours. Mustapha, the owner, very promptly answered all my questions by email and helped with choosing the right trip. We chose a day trip to the Asni Valley. We were picked up by a comfortable people carrier car and the 3 of us set off. En route we picked up our guide for the day who was Mohammed. More about him later. There was no waiting, all worked like clockwork. On arrival to Imlil, our starting point, we had some tea and set off for a walk up to 2000m observing small villages and life of the locals and scenery which was breathtaking. Snow at the top in distance and air so pure. Mohammed (bless him) looked after us- we are not the fittest people on the planet, he helped, waited, explained, supported. His love and regard for his environment and us as clients was exemplary. he is genuinely a nice human being who values his work. At the top he treated us to tea in a local dwelling and we got our breath back! The way down took us past a waterfall, so many photo opportunities. Finally we got back to Mustaphas house on the edge of Imlil village, where we were treated to a fantastic lunch on a roof terrace- tagine so tasty and salad, all so clean and beautifully prepared. Fruit desert followed. We got back to the hotel at about 1700. I left my jumper at the house in Imlil and Mustapha emailed me about it and next day delivered it to the hotel, eventhough I told him not to waste his time making the 1.5 hour journey. Overall amazing day, amazing memories and a company that they all should be proud of. Next time( after some serious fitness prep we want to go for the overnighter up in the hills. There will be a next time as we will never forget how lovely it was.
