“Cheap and cheerful but uncomfortable hard bed”
Reviewed 4 March 2014 via mobile

Was ok, cheap and cheerful. Staff helpful and courteous but slept really badly as the bed was soo hard. A walk away from the hustle and bustle of the Medina but fine. Watch out for taxis at the airport not sticking to the fixed tariff, it's illegal for them to charge more so offer to get the police rather than pay more!

I stayed in this hotel for three nights with one friend. Bad points first...
1) The room was very basic which was fine as we weren't looking for anything like the Hilton! However, the noise was almost unbearable. The hotel is directly opposite a very busy bus station. The beeping and the horns were relentless, and there was no escaping it. In addition to the noise outside, the walls of the room are extremely thin. My friend and I heard everything...
2) The WIFI only worked on the bottom floor and even then was temperamental.
3) The management was not particularly helpful. I wanted to rent a safe to put my belongings in, but instead of organising it one employee protested that the hotel was completely safe and I would have no need for a safe. After eventually taking my money, he did not even organise it and it was almost an hour before it arrived.
4) If you want to book any excursions I would suggest not doing it through the hotel, as they take commission. You can book exactly the same trips in the Old City for a third of the price!
5) The pool is not a pool, more of a large puddle.
Good points...
1) The location is fairly central, about a 20 minute walk from the Old City if you don't get lost.
2) Breakfast was fine

In summary, I would not use this hotel again! Although it is relatively cheap, you can get something much cheaper in the centre of the old city for the same quality. I don't know where the hotel got its 4 star rating from, but this is most certainly not the case.

I was pretty dubious about this place after reading the reviews, but going in with a sceptical outlook worked!
The room was Ok, like other reviews said, it did feel a bit tired and worn, but was clean, the air con worked and the water was powerful and hot. We stayed at the back, but having glimpsed the views from the front, I would definitely have made allowances for the noise.
Breakfast was pretty decent, plenty of bread, pastries and salads. Several mornings there wasn't an awful lot of food, or in fact crockery, left, and it wasn't replenished quickly (but I may just be being picky having worked in the hotel industry!) - we had to ask for forks and glasses. The coffee wasn't really hot so after the first day stuck to tea! We had dinner one evening which was pretty dire - salads were good but the burners to keep the food hot on the buffet had gone out so food was cold. As we were the only ones eating in the large room it felt pretty soulless, and for 100MAD each you can get much much better food elsewhere!
Pretty disappointed with the pool being in the shade, but the salon de the was a lovely place to sit and chill out. Staff were pleasant, if a little laid back.
All in all, not bad for what we paid. But having stayed previously in a riad in the medina, if I were to go back I would pay the extra!

We were a small group staying one night here at either end of a week's trekking in the Sahara. I had stayed in Marrakesh before at a ryad which was very enjoyable but this hotel certainly was a disappointment. The staff were mostly quite sullen and the rooms were very tired and basically furnished. Both rooms we stayed in had woodwork that was decaying with paint flaking off. On the last night, my companion's bed sounded as if it would collapse at every slight movement. Breakfast was adequate and fortunately, we only "enjoyed" one evening meal there. The WiFi only worked in reception and even there, only intermittently. The location was good with the Medina just across the road, but rooms facing the city were very noisy all night.

In summary, I would not recommend this hotel, unless you really just need a cheap place to stay for the night. There are so many wonderful ryads in the city offering traditional warm beautifully furnished Moroccan hospitality for a few dirhams more.

The good-ish points:
Good location for seeing the markets as they are ten minutes walk away.
Not bad size double room
Staff helpful.
Cheap

That's it with the good points

I am not one to normally complain but feel I cannot keep quiet about this one!

The hotel is opposite the main bus station, so bring ear plugs as the constant traffic and honking of horns will keep you awake till 3am.

The hotel staff are quite helpful but seem to know that the hotel is very tired and do their best

The double room was dirty and had air conditioning but neither my friends or mine had any heating in the cold nights. Neither of us had a balcony.

i went on a full board and the food was appalling. First morning, no tea or coffee. Second day, the coffee and tea came out but the coffee "urn" gave out cold coffee. After complaining about this twice my cup of coffee was taken away and microwaved for me. The boiled eggs were green inside. After, the first day, we ate out every day and just used the "restaurant" as a meeting point. I have had some bad all inclusive's but this was just inedible.

165 rooms and two lifts - one was broken for our entire stay.

The pool is outside and in the shade so constantly cold...

Overall - bearable for a cheap over-night but not for a holiday

We stayed in Hotel Mogador for two nights in Marrakesh since our first choice riad was booked. The good - location is nicely situated between the medina and the new city. The Jardin Majorelle is only a couple blocks away which is worth a visit. The hotel is pretty basic and nothing special. As noted in previous reviews, it's definitely in need of a face lift to say the least. Wifi available in the lobby. For a longer stay, look for something else with more Moroccan character!

We booked for 10 nights. Unfortunatley we still have 2 left. When we arrived the first room smelt and was dirty. We complained and were given a diferent room (bit cleaner, no smell). Then found the balcony door did not have a catch, complained twice, ignored, until the room flooded when the cistern overflowed. Complained loudly finaly got it fixed. Food, is good food spoilt. Never hot, always the same and served on stone cold plates. The hotel is gruby throughout, though the housekeepers do the best they can. It needs a thorough renovation.
I did read the reviews and as it had an average score thought it should be ok, BELIEVE ME IT IS NOT I would not be surprised if the management put the good reviews on themselves.
