“Sensational in every way”

My partner and I have just returned from a wonderful holiday in Morocco which ended with three nights at the sensational Riad Kniza.

Our stay was perfect in every way thanks to the wonderful service provided by Kamal, Amina and all the staff at Riad Kniza. This Riad is so breathtaking - the design and decor is exquisite; the food and wine superb; the chic terrace relaxing; and the indoor pool and facilities including sauna and hammam luxurious.

We stayed in the most gorgeous room we have ever experienced in all our travels - the Royal Suite Bahia. Our stay also included a tour of Marrakesh - thank you Riad Kniza for making this part of your offerings to guests - our guide Mufasa was incredible - the tour he provided was so informative, friendly, relaxed and professional.

We can't wait to return with friends so they too can enjoy the wonderful hospitality and surrounds of this extraordinary, immaculate, luxurious and perfect Riad.

On arrival, we were upgraded and stayed in Room 8 overlooking the swimming pool. The room was sumptuous and luxurious, although it did take us a while to figure out how to work the lighting system. The food was wonderful. Breakfasts consisted of omelette, pancakes, breads, jams, porridge, cereal and freshly squeezed orange juice. Dinner was soup, 8 different salads, briouats, chicken and lemon tagine and milk pastilla. The staff were very attentive and the Moroccan owner actually took time to talk to us which was lovely. This riad is next to a mosque so be prepared for a very early wake up call.

We stayed at Riad Kniza on recommendation from people who had been staying at La Mamounia and were not disappointed .
The staff went out of their way to be accommodating and the rooms and whole hotel was beautifully appointed in typical Moroccan style not like a bland tourist hotel.
The meals were served in a beautiful dining room that was relaxing and also gave travellers a chance to chat with others if they so desired.
I was very impressed when due to the ash cloud from Iceland no flights were flying to Europe, the riad allowed people to stay on for a few extra days without charge.
The owners also own an antique shop in town that if you have time is worth a visit...lots of beautiful things but a bit out of my league this time.
Riad Kniza is on the expensive side but worth it

Room Tip: All the rooms are beautiful we stayed in the yakout suite and it is amazing ( just like the web pict...

We stayed in riad Kniza based on the recommendations of other Trip Advisor users, and I am very glad we did. It's a beautiful riad, very well taken care of by its owners. When we checked in, we were invited to a wonderfully appointed room for tea while our luggage was taken to our room. After the tea, we were taken on a tour of the riad by one of it's owners. Our room was beautiful, but a little noisy b/c of it's location. After my husband expressed his concern to the staff, we were immediately upgraded to a different room. Throughout our short stay, the service was impeccable, the breakfast was delicious, and the location is very convenient. I would not hesitate to stay there again or recommend this riad to any of our friends.

A unique place to stay. We were upgraded without even asking and our room was better than any five star hotel room we have ever stayed in. Staff were friendly and helpful. We were right in the heart of the hustle and bustle. We loved it for the three days we were there. Just go and see for yourself. You will love it.

A gorgeous property with every amenity imaginable, most of all the friendliest staff I've ever encountered. Immaculately clean. Not a single wrong note about the place. I can't say enough good things about it.

We booked a long weekend package via Luxury Link, after having read amazing review of this Riad here on Trip Advisor. Let me promise you - this Riad is everything everyone has posted - and more!

Our package included round trip transfers from and to the airport, a day trip to the High Atlas mountains, a ½ day tour of Marrakesh, dinner for two on one evening, and a welcome basket of fruits and bottle of champagne.

We booked a long weekend package via Luxury Link, after having read amazing review of this Riad here on Trip Advisor. Let me promise you - this Riad is everything everyone has posted - and more! This riad is a beautiful oasis – and definitely worth every penny! This is one of the few Riads in Marrakesh (I believe there are only 6) that are owned by Moroccans.

Our package included round trip transfers from and to the airport, a day trip to the High Atlas Mountains, a ½ day tour of Marrakesh, dinner for two on one evening, all non-alcoholic drinks and a welcome basket of fruits and bottle of champagne.

Every email communication we had with the hotel was promptly replied to, in excellent English.

We arrived late on a Thursday evening. It took over an hour to get through passport control, and we were concerned about the driver who was waiting for us. When we finally got finished and came out to the arrivals hall, we were warmly welcomed by our driver, who smiled and insisted it was no problem that he had to wait for us for so long. He also asked us if we needed an ATM before heading to the hotel, and showed us the ATM’s in the arrivals hall. He proudly talked about the city during our short drive to the hotel, pointed out some of the sites along the way and explained that the King had just been visiting for Ramadan.

When we arrived at the hotel, it is a short walk from where the car must park to the Riad. Here, we were again met warmly by the staff and taken to the hotel. Expecting the "standard" check-in, we were completely surprised! We were welcomed in a way that made us feel like we were visiting a friend or family. We were shown to a lounge room with beautiful decoration and brought mint tea and pastries while they took the necessary passport information, etc. We were then walked through the details of our package, and decided when we wanted to take the day trips, have dinner, etc. We asked if they had opened the bottle of champagne yet, because since neither of us drink, they should keep it. We were immediately told that we should have something as a replacement, then! Expecting them to ask if we would like a bottle of Cola or water or tea, we were very surprised when we were offered massages instead!

When the formalities were finished, we were offered a tour of the Riad. We declined, as we were very tired, so we were shown to our room. We had Senior Suite Sultan – a ground floor suite. The suite consisted of a beautiful sitting room, with gorgeous Moroccan furnishings, and a 42” LG TV. The bedroom had a huge bed and was also beautifully furnished. The bathroom had a separate toilet, nice closet and bathtub (with both great water pressure and plenty of hot water).

The next morning, we were able to really take in the Riad for the first time. I cannot even begin to describe the beauty of this Riad. Just let me say that around every corner, there was something even more beautiful and calming. The carvings on the walls, the intricate wood work, the soft colors, soft lighting, the sound of running water... I could go on and on!

Even though our suite was ground floor, we were never disturbed by noise outside the room. The staff move quietly through the Riad, and our entire stay was very peaceful.

Our entire stay was amazing. I am an early riser, and together with the 2 hour time difference, this meant I was waking up at 0500 on the first days (and my partner is a late sleeper). Each morning, I went out into the open-roofed courtyard with my laptop and worked quietly while listening to the sound of the water in the fountain and enjoying the company of two beautiful sparrows who regularly checked to see if I had anything for them – even being so bold as to land on the top of my laptop screen! I was never sitting there for more than 5 minutes before someone realised I was there and brought me a pot of hot tea (which they happily refilled every time they realised it was empty).

Breakfast is served whenever and wherever you would like it (on the roof top terrace, in one of the lounges or in your room). The table is first beautifully set, and then they come with the food. It was far more food that the two of us could eat. Each morning there were eggs (cooked differently each day), crepes, “pancakes”, and a corn bread of sorts, plus yogurt, corn flakes, a selection of jams, honey, and spreadable cheese, and fruit. But the thing I looked forward to each morning was the freshly squeezed orange juice! We never ate lunch during our entire stay, since breakfast was so big. We were also able to get tea or water anytime we wanted – just ask, and it was there within minutes.

Our dinner for two was also absolutely amazing. The starters were so tasty, that by the time the main course came, we were already stuffed. The food was excellent, and was a very nice way to taste an array of Moroccan dishes. We were very glad we had this huge meal in our room, as we had to lie down afterwards!

The tours arranged by the hotel were also amazing.

We had our ½ day tour of Marrakesh on Friday. We were not certain if this would be ok or not, since it was not only Friday, but also since Ramadan had just ended and most people still had vacation. But it was no problem at all. Our guide spoke excellent English, and was able to ask all our questions. It was definitely a good idea to do this tour on the first day after arriving, as it can be difficult to find your way at first, and there are not many markings or signs pointing the way to the sites in the old city. Our guide spent 4 hours with us, and I think we walked 10 km! We were not quite ready to return to the hotel afterwards, so he pointed in the general direction of the hotel and said good-bye to us by the main square. When we headed back to the hotel, we managed to get completely lost and turned around… but ended up meeting some very nice and helpful people along the way, and finding a nice local restaurant for dinner where we had amazing tagines.

We had our trip to the High Atlas Mountains on Saturday. Again, the hotel had arranged an amazingly warm and friendly guide who spoke perfect English. The mountains are beautiful, and our guide proudly told us about the initiatives the current King has taken to ensure the Berber villages had clean water, electricity and schools. Again, everyone we met was warm and kind, and not as pushy as in many other destinations.

On our leaving day, we asked to have breakfast at 0600, due to an early flight. This was also no problem at all, and yet another beautiful breakfast arrived promptly to our door.

If you are traveling to Marrakesh, this is definitely the place to stay!
