“A Flawless Gem!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 March 2012

My husband and I have just returned to New York from an unforgettable stay at Riad Kniza. This was our first trip to Morocco and we wanted to stay in a place that would enhance our understanding of Moroccan arts, culture and hospitality. Upon our arrival, as the door to the riad opened, we were greeted by the scent of flowers, the sight of the softly-lit courtyard with flowing fountain, and the soothing sounds of traditional Moroccan music coursing through the air, played live by an accomplished musician. The decor at Riad Kniza discreetly showcased the outstanding talents of local craftsmen employed during a recent, meticulous restoration of this home, which has been in the owner's family for 2 centuries. We were welcomed with Moroccan tea and later guided, along inlaid corridors, to our room, which was immaculate and tastefully appointed. That night, we enjoyed a delicious traditional Moroccan meal in an intimate dining room. In the morning, we were served a generous and varied breakfast on the beautifully planted roof terrace. Later in our stay, we were moved to the Royal Suite Bahia, with a scale and decor that took our breath away! Above all, throughout our stay, the owner and staff of Riad Kniza were always accessible and eager to provide or suggest whatever assistance would be helpful. Their knowledge, grace and cordiality cannot be over-emphasized. I would also note that this riad is easy to find within the walls of the medina. I would recommend Riad Kniza with confidence to anyone looking for a charming and genuinely gracious "home away from home."

Room Tip: The Royal Suite Bahia is huge and sumptuously appointed! However, all rooms are recently renovated.

My husband and I have just returned to the UK after spending 3 days at Riad Kniza to celebrate my 50th birthday. I can honestly say it was one of the most special experiences we've ever had. Our suite literally took our breath away (Yakout)...............The riad oozes pure Moroccan authenticity, the staff and service were absolutely exceptional. I hope we get the chance to visit them all again soon. I've read a few reviews here that refer to the noise in the Riad and the disturbance of the calling to prayer. We experienced no excessive noise in our time there (14-17 Mar). In fact, sometimes it felt like we were the only ones in the whole place!! And the roof terrace was positively sumblime in the afternoon. I don't know how we didn't hear the fantastic hub-bub in the lanes and alleys below us. And it does disturb me that someone would complain about the muslim calling to prayer being heard in a riad in Morocco??? I mean, come on, people, you should be embracing this kind of stuff there, shoulnd't you?

Our advice....................book it and enjoy it - it's absolutely wonderful!! Our best wishes and thanks to Kamal, Ashraf, Samir and the rest of the gang for treating us like a king and queen.

Room Tip: Room 9 (Yakout Suite) - a real treat and very private.

A Riad is a home, and we certainly felt at home in Riad Kniza. It is a very peaceful oasis in the middle of the noise and activity of the Medina. We loved having breakfast on the roof terrace in the sunshine every morning and the spread was so delicious we never needed lunch. We wandered around the city each morning and then returned in the afternoon to relax on the terrace with glasses of freshly squeezed orange juice. Our room was very comfortable and beautifully decorated in a traditional style and came complete with a bowl of fresh fruit. I enjoyed a visited to the hammam and a lovely massage from Syeda which I would recommend. We had several evening meals there and they were delicious and served in a really romantic environment, complete with roaring open fire and fresh roses. The staff were very friendly and attentive without being overbearing. We would like to thank Mohammed and his staff for such a fantastic holiday.

We stayed at the Riad Kniza for 4 nights and it was excellent in every way. We had the Yakout Suite which was lovely, with a large bathroom, wonderful ceiling above the bed, and good size TV.

Staff were excellent and nothing was too much for them, meals were served whenever we wanted and wherever we wanted - the roof terrace being a great feature.

On the day we were due to check-out, our flight wasn't until later that evening and the staff voluntarily gave us another room to stay in until it was time to leave.

Location is great, being a short 10-15 minute walk to the main square, but very peaceful in the riad itself.

Faultless, and we would certainly return.

Room Tip: Yakout Suite was lovely, and on the 1st floor, so possibly less noisy than those on the ground floor...

Riad Kniza is a beautiful small hotel that surpises you at every turn. Whether walking around from courtyard to courtyard bathed in sunlight or relaxing on the roof terrace it was all splendid. Our room was spacious and very tastefully furnished, pure comfort.

The decor throughout is exceptional and has been clearly a labour of love for the owner.

The breakfast is amazing, really challenging and such a choice. We ate in for three of our five nights and were not disappointed.

Last but no means least the staff. They were faultless, friendly, welcoming, caring and made a wonderful visit perfect. Nothing was too much trouble.Thank you we cannot wait to return.

Room Tip: It depend on how much space you want. We had a sitting room and bedroom. So peaceful on the first fl...

After being picked up at the airport we were greeted at the Riad Kniza like old friends. Our room was so lovely and so clean with toiletries in the bathroom and roses everywhere. The four day package was excellent value and Samira, Ashraff and all the waiting staff were very helpful and professional.
