In a city of contrasts, a constant is the exemplary service of the Riad L’Orangeraie. Nestled in the Moussaine area of the city, this oasis of calm is a prime location to enjoy the ancient urban cultures and the mystique of Marrakech.

Prior to our arrival, the communication with Cyril and his hard working staff ensured our stay was a truly memorable one. The transfer from the airport and check in couldn’t have been simpler. The rooms at the Riad were spacious, clean and cool. Dimitri & Marianne soon made us feel part of the ‘family’.

Our first night, we dined at the Riad and the food was delicious. A first course of salads & home cooked vegetables followed by chicken tagine and couscous and then a wonderful orange & cinnamon desert.

Breakfasts are served either by the pool, the courtyard or on the roof terrace. They consist of tea, coffee, fresh juice, fruit salad or yoghurt and various breads, cakes & preserves. The staff are very courteous, polite and extremely hard working. The majority speak English but an Anglo/Francais mixture usually does the trick. Nothing was too much trouble and we were constantly offered drinks and pampered during our stay. The service given by Dimitri & Marianne was always first class; making reservations at restaurants, arranging travel, offering advice and at times walking with you to ensure you reached your destination.

The pool and shade offered a welcome escape from the summer heat and sun chairs, towels etc. are provided. Each room has a range of toiletries, hairdryer, AC unit and safe. There is a lounge, hi speed wifi and the Riad is only a 5 minute walk to Jeema El Fna and 2 minutes to the souks.

During our stay we visited Le Fondouk, Al Faissa & Cafe Arabe restaurants and would recommend them all. We spent a day at the Beldi Country Club enjoying the swimming pools, spa and lovely gardens. At 350dh with 3 course lunch included, it was a most enjoyable day.

Would I recommend the Riad L’Orangeraie to friends and family... I have numerous times.

Would I return.... I did.

My husband and I stayed here for three nights with our 17 year old son and couldn't have been happier with our choice of riad. Cyril and his staff were utterly charming without being intrusive and went out of their way to ensure that we had an enjoyable stay. Unfortunately our son was unwell with travellers' tummy while we were there and was unable to join us for dinner one night but, without us asking, a large bowl of rice was produced alongside our delicious meal which he was able to enjoy. My husband and son wanted to try a hammam but, as this didn't really appeal to me, the lovely manageress suggested I go for a Moroccan cookery lesson which was right up my street and hugely enjoyable. Everything was booked for us (at no extra cost) which removed all the hassle. I would recommend this riad wholeheartedly and very much hope to return.

We’ve just returned home from Marrakech and had a wonderful stay at this Riad. Cyril and the staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating, whether it was in regard to guides, food, or suggestions as to where to go and what to do. All arrangements went off perfectly, whether arranging for cars from Casablanca or Essoureia, or a trip to the Atlas Mountains. While the sights and sounds of Marrakech seem like a distant dream now that we are home in New York, we will always remember the special time we had and the gracious hospitality we received. Also, the food was so good that we actually ate dinner at the Riad two out of three nights. Last, we were concerned about it being so hot, but the air conditioning was excellent. And, the high speed internet access worked perfectly in our room. We look forward to our next visit, whenever that may be!

L'Orangeraie made Marrakech! A peaceful and stylish nest in the better part of Medina and just minutes from Jemaa El Fnaa. Apart from the location - we enjoyed everything in that Riad - the decor&design, the style of the room (Paprika was it called), the care everything was done with, the breakfast, the courthyard and roof sundeck and the turtle who always paddled around:)
But the most special thanks goes to Cyril, who was a lot more than just helpful - all the tips and suggestions and efficient communicating, L'Orangeraie was right from the start!

We always take a city break in March and this was a great month to visit Marrakesh. The weather was perfect...not too hot, but hot enough. What a beautiful restful elegant place this Riad is in this crazy busy city. The madness of Marrakesh is almost forgotten as soon as you pass though that big front door! Cyril, the owner is extremely helpful and friendly, always making sure you are being looked after by the lovely Morrocan ladies who work for him. A tasty continental breakfast can be taken wherever you wish...your room, the roof, the pool.
We arrived in the evening and had already arranged to eat at the Riad. This must be booked in advance. Dinner was excellent and I would recommend you do have a meal in house. As our main delight is food, we asked Cyril to recommend restaurants for the other evenings. All were excellent. He will go to the trouble to book it for you and he even walked us to Le Foundouk...( we would never of found it ourselves!) He also made sure the maître d' knew we were returning to his Riad and they kindly escorted us to a taxi at the end of the evening.
We spent three nights in the Riad and one night at Dar Imlil in the Atlas mountains, roughly 60 minutes drive in a taxi. This was a lovely contrast to the Medina and I would recommend this if you have time. We hired a guide for the morning to take an easy but interesting trek into the mountain. He took us to a berber village where we took tea in a locals house.
We will definatley return here. There was alot we didn't have time to see and I will absolutley be checking back into the Riad L'Orangeraie next time...It just won't be soon enough!

We stayed in this Riad for five nights in June 2010, and we could not have chosen a better place to stay in the Marrakech Medina. The location is very close to the exit to the Medina, so when we wanted to go out into the Nouvelle City it was only a short walk to a taxi.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by the manager Stephanie, who was amazingly warm and friendly, and she showed us to our room, which was spacious, relaxing and with everything we needed from a safe to wi fi and some cold bottled water on arrival.

The hotel arranged our transfer from the airport, and thank goodness they did, as our plane was delayed, the queue were long at immigration, and then we had to exchange money, and the driver waited patiently and helped us with our luggage.

We had a fantastic dinner on the rooftop on arrival and the meal was one of the best we had in our entire 14 days in Morocco.
The owner Cyril was also there on our arrival and welcomed us warmly. He is a font of information and extremely helpful and knowledgeable about both the Medina and Marrakech. Both he and Stephanie sat with us as we made arrangements with our our tour company for travel into the desert, and translated where necessary and just generally supported us through the process.

Breakfasts were a highlight in the Riad as they were served by very attentive and friendly girls.
The home made Moroccan pancakes, and freshly made mint tea, along with some fresh yoghurt, or fresh fruit, eaten whilst lounging upstairs on the roof terrace, with views over to the mountains, was a most memorable and terrific way to start to the day.

This is an amazing Riad and Cyril the owner goes out of his way to ensure that you are happy and that your stay in Marrakech and particularly in his Riad is everything you could have expected.

I highly recommend Riad L'Orangeraie to anyone planning a visit to Marrakech.

Riad L'Orangeraie was recommended to us by a friend who stayed there several years ago and I must say that we were not disappointed. We had a great time in this beautiful riad and were well looked after by their excellent staff. Cyril was a great host. He was always available and made excellent recommendations for things to see and places to eat . He arranged for a guide and our transportation to and from the airport. The riad is located in an excellent location, just minutes away from the souks and big square. After a long day of walking around, it was great to come back to the riad, soak our feet in the pool and then stretch out on the terrace and just relax. There was no set time for breakfast, it was served whenever you wanted and was great (they even had it for us when we left at 5:30 AM!). We had dinner one night at the riad and the food was fantastic and the setting was perfect. We had a great time in Marrakech and a lot of that was attributable to our experience at Riad l'Organeraie. We would definately recommend this riad to everyone. Many thanks to Cyril and his staff!
