“we are so glad we stayed at Riad de L'Orangerie”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 October 2010

When a hotel or B&B succeeds in making you feel at home, pampered for, listens to your every need, has an answer to all your questions, you know you found a gem. This is exactly what happend to us this week. Thanks to Folkie's skills, we had a fabulous stay. The place is immaculate, the decor is clean lines , subtle touches of marrocan colors and furnitures, just enough to feel you are a long way from home, the staff is smiling and caring and efficient, the food delicious. Yes, you do hear the call to prayers about 4 or 5 times a day and night, it's part of the depaysement. yes the Souck is crowded, but it's only a stone throw away from the Riad, and like everyone wrote, once inside, you enter a world of calm and beauty, and you even breath better. We highly recommand the Riad de l'Orangerie , it is a lovely place in the endearing chaos of the Medina.

This was our frst time in Marrakech and we couldn't have picked a better Hotel of which to stay at to have the perfect Moroccan experience. After the hurl and burl of the city streets finding your way to the hotel, and just when you think you've made the wrong decision coming to Marrakech you reach the perfect Oasis. This fantastically developed and uniquely decorated hotel was simply fantastic. All the Staff, Marianne, Dmitri, Nadia the cook and even Valentine the tortoise could not have been friendlier. They made our stay extra special and we cant wait to get back over here again and experience their hospitality. Would reccomend this to anyone.

Delightful garden oasis close to the bustle of the souqs. Excellent, personal service and great food, some of the best in Marakech. The room was amazing, like our own personal palace. Five star quality but with a five star price.

I definitely recommend staying in this Riad, once you are inside this charming, quiet and peaceful place, you won't beleive you are only minutes away from the hustle and bustle of the medina. The staff are discreet and excellent, you can have a late bfast even at noon if you sleep in, never any stress, we actually had a an excellent dinner there too - simple but one of the best meal we had in Marrakesh; the place is spotless; there's a little pool but it's enough to do the trick. The manager Stephanie was really helpful in giving tips for restaurants, organising day trips and transfers. Basically although you may pay a little more to stay at this place, it's worth every penny to have a stressfree and well organised holiday.

In a city of contrasts, a constant is the exemplary service of the Riad L’Orangeraie. Nestled in the Moussaine area of the city, this oasis of calm is a prime location to enjoy the ancient urban cultures and the mystique of Marrakech.

Prior to our arrival, the communication with Cyril and his hard working staff ensured our stay was a truly memorable one. The transfer from the airport and check in couldn’t have been simpler. The rooms at the Riad were spacious, clean and cool. Dimitri & Marianne soon made us feel part of the ‘family’.

Our first night, we dined at the Riad and the food was delicious. A first course of salads & home cooked vegetables followed by chicken tagine and couscous and then a wonderful orange & cinnamon desert.

Breakfasts are served either by the pool, the courtyard or on the roof terrace. They consist of tea, coffee, fresh juice, fruit salad or yoghurt and various breads, cakes & preserves. The staff are very courteous, polite and extremely hard working. The majority speak English but an Anglo/Francais mixture usually does the trick. Nothing was too much trouble and we were constantly offered drinks and pampered during our stay. The service given by Dimitri & Marianne was always first class; making reservations at restaurants, arranging travel, offering advice and at times walking with you to ensure you reached your destination.

The pool and shade offered a welcome escape from the summer heat and sun chairs, towels etc. are provided. Each room has a range of toiletries, hairdryer, AC unit and safe. There is a lounge, hi speed wifi and the Riad is only a 5 minute walk to Jeema El Fna and 2 minutes to the souks.

During our stay we visited Le Fondouk, Al Faissa & Cafe Arabe restaurants and would recommend them all. We spent a day at the Beldi Country Club enjoying the swimming pools, spa and lovely gardens. At 350dh with 3 course lunch included, it was a most enjoyable day.

Would I recommend the Riad L’Orangeraie to friends and family... I have numerous times.

Would I return.... I did.

My husband and I stayed here for three nights with our 17 year old son and couldn't have been happier with our choice of riad. Cyril and his staff were utterly charming without being intrusive and went out of their way to ensure that we had an enjoyable stay. Unfortunately our son was unwell with travellers' tummy while we were there and was unable to join us for dinner one night but, without us asking, a large bowl of rice was produced alongside our delicious meal which he was able to enjoy. My husband and son wanted to try a hammam but, as this didn't really appeal to me, the lovely manageress suggested I go for a Moroccan cookery lesson which was right up my street and hugely enjoyable. Everything was booked for us (at no extra cost) which removed all the hassle. I would recommend this riad wholeheartedly and very much hope to return.
