I'll start by saying this was a surprise trip for me. And I had no input on choosing this hotel, so its a real non bius opinion.. And I had no idea what to expect!
Firstly, we got a transfer from the airport to the hotel which took about 10-20 mins, was really quick! When I saw the hotel (at night time) it looked really nice from the road. Then the reception area was equally as pleasant.. I was excited it seemed to be traditionally Moroccan :)
The hotel staff are helpful when you ask for help. But I didn't get the feel they would go out of your way to help. But all was fine!
We had our bags taken up to our room and didn't feel obliged to give a tip either.. Which was thumbs up!
The room was clean, spacious, well equipped with a mini fridge, air con, heater (which we used at night time, as it was very chilly at the time of year we went) flat screen tv, wardrobe space, and rye bathroom was large and posh feeling :)
We took a taxi to and from the souks at the main square area.. Just because we are lazy and would rather pay to get taken there than use our legs! But be careful not to get ripped off, taxi drivers accepted us bartering the price of the trip.
The markets were so much fun, but a little scary at the same time, but that was expected, if u say no most people are happy to accept that and stop hassling you. We bought lots if stuff at over half the original price; they expect you to haggle.. The first price is always to high!
We went on a camel ride that we booked from the hotel reception, we got picked up and dropped off to and from the hotel door. And had s two hour long crazy fun camel ride.. I'm an animal lover, and was a bit worried about the welfare of the camels, but they did seem happy and well looked after at this particular place.
Overall I would recommend the hotel, the good part was that the breakfast was nice and full! And the rooms were clean and cosy, and the decor was traditional. However.. The bad side was that it was about a half hour walk to the main square, but could be avoided by taking a taxi. And the sleep quality was not the best, the pillows were hard and the noise from the adjacent street was pretty loud throughout the night :( but obviously the hotel cannot help that.
I was happy and had a brilliant birthday trip :)

Our trip to the Diwane Hotel Marrakech was a birthday treat for my wife and flew there with an airline most people like to hate, but like it or loathe it; it gets you to your destination and back mostly on time. The Diwane Hotel is located on the corner of Rue de Yugoslavie and the other end of the main shopping are of Ave Med V with its main Plaza. All the same it’s nicely place to get you from and to the airport by bus or taxi and very easy to get to the Medina and visitor attractions, Marrakech main area of activities.

The Diwane has many lovely features and fine qualities, but the first impression of this pretty building is the warmth you receive not only at its main entrance by the security and porters, but the reception staff in Mounia, Ouiada and their colleagues. I personally found Moroccans friendly people, but staff at the Diwane makes you feel as if you have known them as friends.

If you are lucky to get one of the room with overlooking balconies onto the swimming pool which is not heated, but sure would be nice to use when it's hot. Nonetheless looks very clean and well maintained.

Another lovely feature of this hotel is its lovely dangling chandelier with a lovely ceiling looking down on a nice foyer and rest area. The double room with its balcony we got was quite comfortable and no complaint about the shower or its cleanliness. The support staffs really do a good job. Personally, breakfast was more enjoyable than the dinner but both were of good quality. The restaurant was quite large but clean and the staff were very adequate.

If there are negatives, I can find only two; and the first is the Bar that is not only pricey, but full of smoke since most people smoke in it. The second is, parts of the decor in the rooms and restaurant where the tiling of beautiful mosaic if anything, amateurish. It is the finishing on the tiling and paint that lets it down. The Diwane like all tourism products is going through its Product Life Cycle and this 7 year old hotel is no different. If anything it's a bit tired in parts and nothing that a small bit of attention can't fix.

The questions to ourselves - would we return and would and recommend the Diane to others? The answer is a resounding YES. It's a trip well worth repeating - good value.

Well we've just come back from our short break in Morroco having stayed at the Diwane.
Well what can you say, don't be put off by nagative views as we all know us British like to moan! A very pleasant hotel, with a Riad feel about it. Very helpful & pleasant staff.
For 138 each half board for 3 nights(4 whole days) thank you squeazy jet you cannot go wrong. Beakfast was the usual continetal style, lunch was a 3 course meal every day or you can swap this for dinner if staying half board which was normally a buffet based upon lunch.

Decent enough food until they lay on a Morrocon tagine menu, I have to say that was the most amazing tasting Morrocon food I have every had with all dishes served from Tagines. unbelievably tasty & very glad we didnt wander off into the town that night.

Rooms were always clean/tidy witgh petals laid across the bed every day, they even foldign my wifes PJ's different every day, not essential but a delicate touch. A huge bowl of fresh fruit greeted us on arrival and the rooms are spotless. Nice to have a shower and a bath too (a huge bath!!)

The only downside was when pool facing there is an old derilict building where people dump rubbish or, we ended up noticing had a few visitors throughout the day, squatters we thought, but sadly not it appears that street & a few derilict places are used for 'paid for female entertainment' shall we say!! enough said.

We found the Souk about a 20 miniute walk away & on very opne roads so very safe, just simply raise a hand and say no for anyone offering to guide you there or begging, they will not harrass you after this!! Its very cheap to eat/drink in Marrakech and we simply spent a good part of the days having a coffee or mint tea 10-15dh (about 30p!!) and watching the world go by.....go back, absolutley & the Atlas mountains look stunning!!

Room Tip: pool facing

Spent 7 nights in a lovely garden-facing twin room with balcony. We booked the hotel as part of a flight + accommodation package and so had moderate expectations. Consequently, we were pleasantly surprised.

Really loved the riad feel to it and the proximity to the medina and excellent restaurants in the Gueliz area.

The service was more than adequate. The rooms were well cleaned daily. The pool was perfect during the heat of July albeit a little crowded at times.

So far as a recommendation is concerned, we would have no problems suggesting Diwane to friends as a suitable base for a Marrakech visit. We would recommend using the hamman and spa too.

Note to avoid the pizza restaurant next door to Diwane and in particular their four cheese pizza which presented us with our only bout of food poisoning and was kind enough to allow us to take home a bacterial souvenir from Morocco.

Room Tip: go for the top floor. The rooms seemed to get quieter the further away from reception. However the...

Stayed for 7 nights in the hotel in a garden facing balcony twin room which was very comfortable, albeit the beds and pillows perhaps being slightly too hard for my personal taste. B&B basis and breakfast was good start for the day. Very helpful staff. Location was excellent and easy walk from the train and bus stations as well as from the main bars, restaurants and the medina and the souk area.

me and my partner stayed at the diwane for a week and found we had a rather pleasant experience. Due to date amendments we had opted for diwane hotel at last minute therefore we weren't so sure what to expect. However on arrival we were greeted by a lovely door man and reception staff were friendly. The loaction was fab and a tour bus stopped right across from the hotel (great for sightseeing) and other attractions were not very far, we took a cab to the medina for a few days (be careful of being charged too much by the cab drivers) and then we found a man renting out scooters near mcdonalds so we decided to use that instead of cabs, although it saved us cab fare, petrol was cheap and the hotel had an underground car park, the road conduct was horrendous so would not advice it so much. Rooms were cleaned everyday and towels changed, the maids were very nice and none of our personal belongings were touched, there was a mini fridge, air conditiong/heating, flat screen tv, a few bath products, fairly nice view from balcony and we were able to convert our pounds into dirhams at a good rate at the hotel but i would recommend in counting the money while still at the desk as on two occasions the same man at reception gave us 100dirhams less than what he had written on the receipt. other than that staff were very helpful as to what should be visted, main attractions, good restaurants etc. we did have breakfast at the hotel but on some occasion we gave it a miss as the same food was served everyday and if you weren't up early enough most of the good stuff was gone. In the evenings the bar downstairs was some what entertaining as they had folk singers, instruments, music on some nights. only problem we had was on some mornings/nights you could hear the sound of heels stomping through the corrider and a dog barking continuously on a night or two. Last but not least, if like me and my partner you find it difficult to wake up in the morning the hotel is very reliable for a wake up call and are persistant if asked to be :) overall if the hotel wasn't reasonable enough our trip would have been in discomfort however it turned out to be a lovely week on holiday.
