I'll start by saying this was a surprise trip for me. And I had no input on choosing this hotel, so its a real non bius opinion.. And I had no idea what to expect!
Firstly, we got a transfer from the airport to the hotel which took about 10-20 mins, was really quick! When I saw the hotel (at night time) it looked really nice from the road. Then the reception area was equally as pleasant.. I was excited it seemed to be traditionally Moroccan :)
The hotel staff are helpful when you ask for help. But I didn't get the feel they would go out of your way to help. But all was fine!
We had our bags taken up to our room and didn't feel obliged to give a tip either.. Which was thumbs up!
The room was clean, spacious, well equipped with a mini fridge, air con, heater (which we used at night time, as it was very chilly at the time of year we went) flat screen tv, wardrobe space, and rye bathroom was large and posh feeling :)
We took a taxi to and from the souks at the main square area.. Just because we are lazy and would rather pay to get taken there than use our legs! But be careful not to get ripped off, taxi drivers accepted us bartering the price of the trip.
The markets were so much fun, but a little scary at the same time, but that was expected, if u say no most people are happy to accept that and stop hassling you. We bought lots if stuff at over half the original price; they expect you to haggle.. The first price is always to high!
We went on a camel ride that we booked from the hotel reception, we got picked up and dropped off to and from the hotel door. And had s two hour long crazy fun camel ride.. I'm an animal lover, and was a bit worried about the welfare of the camels, but they did seem happy and well looked after at this particular place.
Overall I would recommend the hotel, the good part was that the breakfast was nice and full! And the rooms were clean and cosy, and the decor was traditional. However.. The bad side was that it was about a half hour walk to the main square, but could be avoided by taking a taxi. And the sleep quality was not the best, the pillows were hard and the noise from the adjacent street was pretty loud throughout the night :( but obviously the hotel cannot help that.
I was happy and had a brilliant birthday trip :)
