We stayed 7-14 Feb 09 and had a fantastic time at Dar Ayniwen. The level of service provided by the staff at this boutique Riad is first class. Breakfast is great! you can't beat freshly squeezed moroccan orange juice first thing in the morning accompanied by homemade yoghurt, fresh fruit, pastries, breads & preserves. A gentle walk around the riad's gardens is a pleasant start to the day and you may even spot one of the many tortoise wandering the grounds. We took advantage of the free driver service (everyday & night) to get into the heart of Marrakech. Dinner at the Riad is also very good, if a little repetitive, but there are plenty of excellent restaurants in Marrakech if you fancy a change from moroccan cuisine. We particular recommend 'La Villa de Didier Beckaert' in the Hivernage area. On our first morning we were dropped off close to the huge Jeema El Fna square where we boarded the open top tour bus to get a quick feel for where all the major sites were before setting off on foot into the medina. Yes, you do get hassled but learn these two words "La shukran" (Arabic for "no thank you"), it will be the most useful and regular phrase you will use use in Marrakech! Don't leave without taking a Caleche ride around the perimeter of the walled city. It takes 90 minutes and costs approx £20. We decided to break the week up with a trip to the Atlas mountains. Aziz organised an english speaking driver to take us into the Atlas mountains for the day (cost approx £37/person) which was a worthwhile & welcome departure from the hustle & bustle of the medina. We made planned stops at Kasbah Tamadot (Richard Branson's retreat) and The Kasbah du Toubkal (alt 1800m), which is situated at the foot of Jbel Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa. The peaks were still covered in snow when we visited and the views only are worth the effort of getting there. We whole-heartedly recommend Dar Ayniwen.

We have just returned from this amazing Riad. From the moment we arrived in Marrakech, the staff took care of us as if we were family. This hotel is set in beautiful grounds and the birds sing all day long. It is a boutique hotel with only a few rooms, and it feels so personal, as if it belongs to you. The decoration is very traditional and relaxing. There is a car and driver available for whenever you want to go into Marrakech [about 15 minutes], and they also organised a tour into the Atlas Mountains for us. Breakfast is a treat, sitting out in the sun on the lovely terrace. There are no set meal times, you just do whatever you want, whenever you want. Marrakech is chaotic, but charming [and expensive!]. We can't recommend Dar Ayniwen and its wonderful staff enough - we left our hearts there... Enjoy!

Once again, we were absolutely overwhelmed by the fantastic time that we spent in the hands of the staff of this beautiful villa hotel.

We feel that this is the ideal location to stay in Marrakech due to its balance f being at the same time near to the town (15 minutes by car) and in the quiet and beautiful palm groves.

We will certainly be back as soon as we can.
The shuttle service is a definite plus and makes going to and from the city an easy and carefree experience.

Dar Ayniwen is one of the most enchanting places we have ever stayed (and we are extremely demanding when it comes to luxury boutique destinations).

Never mind the beautfiul house and its sorroundings, the great home cooked meals, easy access to the hammam and sauna, as well as never ending provision of games and entertainment, what makes this place a true jewel is the fantastic service provided by the staff. My husband happened to get sick one of the days we stayed there, and the staff could not have been more helpful in facilitating solutions (fetching medicine at the pharmacy, preparing a light meal with no previous notice, and even checking up on us throughout the day to offer proactive help). They anticipated every single one of our needs and made the entire stay even more memorable.

First of all, if you are looking for your standard 5 star hotel this is not for you. If you are looking for a place with loads of style, character and the best service in Marrakech, this is where you should go. Lovely grounds, great food, very stylish rooms with huge bathrooms and loads of character. But the service is what makes it so very special. You feel like staying in your friend's villa with a good mix of attention to detail and respect for your privacy.
