This was the highlight of our trip all around Morocco. The staff were so friendly and always on hand to attend to any of our needs. The riad was beautiful and there is lots of attention to detail in the interior furnishings in all the rooms. We ended up spending all our time in Marrakesh buying things we had in our room!
The breakfast was the best we had in Morocco - not full of croissants and pastries, but hand cut fruit, hand made bread and yoghurt and yummy muesli. They give complimentary water and soft drinks, coffee and tea.
It is a 20-30 min walk from Djenna el Fna but we enjoyed being away from the chaos and hustle and bustle.
We would definitely come back here if in Marrakesh again.

First of all, I am a really spoiled traveller so it takes quite a lot to impress me. We just stayed in Dar Soukaina with my fiancee for four nights, after 10 days of travelling throughout Morocco. It is an oasis of calm and kindness in the middle of Marrakech medina. This is not your typical riad with tiles, fountains, and carved wood. Instead, it is a relatively small medina house, but very tastefully and elegantly converted into a chic hotel. We stayed in two rooms and both really nice. I would call the overall design French chic - relatively minimalistic but with very tasteful ethnic Moroccan items which give the place a real warmth.

All the staff here is really nice - helpful and unobtrusive at the same time - which you start really appreciating after your first moments in Marrakech, where husteling tourists seems to be a national past time. Service is great - I was particularly impressed when we were given two huge bouquettes of fresh roses into our room on our second day here.

Overall, I really recommend this place especially for romantic getaways.

Personnel extremely nice and attentif. Rooms carefully designed with a special attention for details. The price (80 euros for a std double room) is perhaps a bit high, but is a good bargain for such a nice stay.

We stayed at Dar Soukaina for five nights and found it to be absolutely wonderful. We were picked up at the airport and given a fresh glass of orange juice upon arrival. The hotel man was beyond kind, showing us the sights on a map and giving us directions. Breakfast was delicious, with bread, pancakes, orange juice and mint tea. On the days when we left really early, he insisted on giving us cakes and juice even though it was before breakfast time. We found Marrakech itself to be totally manic, so then coming back at the end of a long day to a quiet, calm and comfortable place was just perfect.

The hotel itself is clean and very stylish. The courtyard shuts out all the noise and in the morning you wake up to the sounds of birds chirping. There are two little tortoises that wander around the courtyard. That was what made this hotel so nice, I think - it wasn't just another Marriott or Holiday Inn which are the same everywhere. You really knew that you were in Morocco.

Totally perfect, in my opinion. Some people might say it's expensive but I thought it was worth every penny. The hotel man was the nicest man in Marrakech and gave us a bowl as a gift when we left. I would recommend this place to anybody and everybody.

I just wanted to say a very big thank you to all staff of Dar Soukaina! Me and my freind, thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Sesame at Dar Soukaina. The building was an oasis of calm in a busy Souk/Medina area! Dinner the first night was excellent and my daughter suggested it was the best meal she had eaten in Morocco! We were made to feel very welcome, and all the staff , Omar Rachid and Abderahim, were wonderful and friendly,
I will gladly recommend Dar Soukaina to all our friends! And, when we return to Marrakech we know where to look for our accomodation!

This Riad is in two halves; the owners own two separate properties directly across an alleyway from each other. We stayed for 5 nights in the newer property, with a small pool in the courtyard. Rooms were very clean, staff friendly and professional, and the place was quite peaceful when we were there, despite being fairly busy. They have internet access on a laptop in the older riad for free use by guests with a decent speed connection. We contacted the manager directly to book by mobile phone and SMS message and that was done very smoothly.
Downsides; the riads are quite a walk from the main square so perhaps a little far "from the action", though you do walk through the main souks to get to the square. Other people have commented that the staff are helpful; I found they were all very nice but generally helpful mostly for things that they could provide or sell to the guests, just as you'd expect in any hotel! They did not know (?) any information about services that they couldn't sell you themselves. Also, the place did seem a bit expensive to me, though Marrakech has got more expensive in the last few years and it was a busy time, I think there's definitely better value places around in this town. Nice enough, but we won't be going back.

Marrakesh is a wonderful, facinating, busy, noisey place, not to be missed. Dar Soukaina is an absolute oasis of calm - we were welcomed with fresh orange juice, pepermint tea and cakes.
It is wonderful and the rooms authentic Morrocan style.

The breakfasts were lovely and there were guides and maps in each of the rooms to be used during our stay.

I would highly recommend a stay at Dar Soukaina.
