“Good if you have a tight budget”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 September 2011

The hotel was good value for money, but in no way a 4 star. Rooms were clean and comfortable and the air con worked. Also we had hot water 24/7. The swimming pool area was spacious and had plenty of sun loungers with a well staffed bar (although the staff didn't always treat your request with urgency and on one day they had run out of wine and beer!). The food was at best average, but there was a reasonable selection. We stayed for 4 nights on a bed and breakfast basis and made the mistake of having dinner at the hotel on the first night which was massively expensive for the standard of the food and the quality of the service. Staff at the hotel were on the whole friendly with reasonable English, but obviously as with any place we did encounter the odd staff member who didn't seem to love their job! We found the hotel to be in a great location as it is approx midway between the old town (Medina) and new town areas - that's if you don't mind a bit of a walk as it's about 15-20 mins to each. Once again, it's really not 4 star but on the money we paid we really can't complain. If we visited Marrakech again on such a tight budget we would consider staying there again but again only on a B&B basis.

I've just got back from a four day trip with my family and had slight reservations about this hotel having read some of the reviews on here. Actually this hotel was completely fine, clean rooms, friendly service, clean pool. All I'd say is double check your air con works when you arrive (ours was quite clunky and noisy so difficult to sleep with it on), guard your bathroom towels with your life, if you want to go for a shower around midday your old ones will have been taken and new ones won't arrive until early evening; and bag your sun beds early as when it's busy you can't always find one! The beers in the bar are cheaper than if you buy outside by the pool and there are local places for a very hearty breakfast for 30dh instead of the 200dh the hotel offers (!). If reception staff recommend you visit the 'fantasia' evening - I highly recommend you don't! It cost about £35 each but as soon as you get there, 'entertainers' are asking you for tip money, the food is awful, slow in coming and you have to pay extra for drinks. The show itself is confusing, poor quality and definitely not entertaining... The '15 minute drive' turned out to be half an hour so all in all we found it a huge waste of money and one of our evenings! This hotel is not a 4 star in the european terms but it's absolutely fine! My final tip is to only pay max 100dh for a taxi to/from the airport - it's very close by!

Some previous reviews have been a bit scathing about this hotel - and about the staff. We found all the staff to be professional, friendly, and helpful; the rooms are good, very very clean, bed comfy, nice quality bed linen, pool and surroundings well cared for and clean - and the pool is big enough for a proper swim especially as children had their own pool. Yes sometimes the clean towels weren't delivered till after lunch - but no big deal, and pool towels are freely available. Yes our bathroom was a bit tired (altho v v clean) but hey, its north africa after all, not Europe, so judge it accordingly. Its well located in a very green area, always taxi's outside if too hot to walk, and for us it was extremely good value for money (and yes, we would return).

Room Tip: all rooms the same size, with same balconies, so basically its about which way you like to face or h...

We found the hotel was a little below the standard expected for a 4 star hotel. It was built in the early eighties and not much has been done to it since. The food was plentiful and adequate but not very exciting. The pool area was very clean and well maintained. We found all the staff to be pleasant and helpful. English was spoken to a good standard. It is about a 15 minute walk into the main part of town or 20 dirhams in a small taxi. Go expecting a 3 star hotel and you will not be disappointed.

El Andalous Hotel was not bad. Spanish theme. maybe, 1 mile from the train station and a little over half a mile from the medina. Staff was friendly, rooms were spacious enough. Two full size beds, swimming pool, spa and restricted access.

We stayed four nights it's no where near 4 stars the rooms were fine and we had no problems with towels etc, pool cleaned every other day and was great. Food yuck!! The only tip I can give you is if you have booked half board then swap dinner for lunch which is a set menu but cooked to order and much nicer than the food served in the evening. The staff were at times surly however when u asked a friendly barman why his collegue was so miserable he spoke to him in Arabic and the man instantly became much nicer!! I believe one if the reason that dome staff where so undamn helpful was they were all starving dying for a drink and desperate for a fag as it was Ramadan during our visit I expect we also would feel a bit fed up! Over all we had a great time and would stay again on B & B basis as it's a great location and the pool is great ( hamman in hotel spa was VERY hard scrubbing but fab massage)

I stayed at the El Andalous hotel for 4 nights in August and the standards were way lower than stated on various websites. Starting with the free airport to hotel transfer, this never happened, they took all my flight details and never even turned up to pick us up! Then at check-in, they give you a form to complete, which is in French, and the reception staff don't help you unless you ask! Overall some of the reception staff are very rude, while others are friendly, but unhelpful. The lady at the desk is very nice and helpful, and speaks good English.
Rooms - we had 5 rooms, all facing the front of the hotel, the beds and linen were clean, as was the bathroom (although I did request a room change as the shower in the first room didn't work). It seemed as if the hotel cleaner had a vacuum cleaner, but didn't use it very well, the carpet and rugs in all our rooms were dirty. They have an odd system where they clean your room and take all the used towels, and then the fresh towels are bought round a lot later, so you have to wait for a towel. The cleaners and maintenance staff don't speak English either, so communicating with them is difficult unless you speak French. The air condition in all of our rooms had to be reprogrammed, but again, you have to ask at reception to do this! You have to pay to use the safe, which I think is silly.
Wifi - apparently it should be available in all the rooms, but the hotel are fully aware that this isn't the case, its only available in the reception area.
Pool bar staff - they unbelievably rude and unhelpful, they had attitude when taking your order and refused to give us any ice when we had a bottle of water that wasn't bought from them.
Breakfast - the food was very poor as well, but you can request for them to make you an omelette - they will say that you need to pay for it, but you don't have to!!
Room service - is so slow and the quality of the food/hot drinks is very poor - save your money!
Location - its located close to the main square, probably about a 30min walk, but a taxi is much quicker, and will only cost around 50dh.
Excursions - if you plan to book any excursions through the hotel, they only give you the basic information, you have to ask them lots of questions to get more information about them.
Swimming pool - its a deep pool, so if you can't swim, there isn't much of a shallow area. You have to pay a deposit of 100dh for a pool towel
Currency exchange - there were a few occasions, where the hotel didn't have any of their own local currency!! Its quicker and better to take some money out from the cash point there.
Overall, is should not be rated as a 4 star hotel, its more of a 2.5-3 star hotel. If you don't pay much for your stay, and your not very bothered by their service, then the location is great and you get a comfy bed. If you are looking for more comfort, then this isn't the hotel to stay at, I personally wouldn't stay there again!

Room Tip: If there is anything wrong with your room, have reception change it!
